The European Council summit begins today in Brussels. "I believe that Chairman Banaś and all politicians are interested in the quickest possible clarification and conclusion of this matter. We know from media reports that the Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA) has presented a report to Chairman Banaś, to which he must respond within a week. - I am not a member, but I am aware that yesterday, at the board meeting, a rather significant declaration was made regarding PO itself, meaning the elections will take place within the statutory timeframe. Grzegorz Schetyna's term ends in January, so we should expect rather quick elections within our party, which I consider to be very beneficial. And of course, there is a significant group within PO that says such elections should happen quickly at this moment - stated Joanna Mucha in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News's "Polityczne Graffiti" (Political Graffiti).

- I have no doubts that Grzegorz Schetyna will stand in this election, but I am also deeply convinced that he will have a rival, rivals, or a female rival. I think it's too early at this moment to talk about names, because conversations are ongoing, and these discussions between potential candidates are currently taking place, so it is certainly too early to say what those names are, but there will be rivals – stated Joanna Mucha in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News's “Polityczne Graffiti”.

- I think rather for a counter-candidate. Because I believe there's a huge expectation from our electorate, from Platforma's people, for a change to occur here. We could have won these elections. The recent ones. The ones that have already taken place. I think there's a deep conviction that these elections could have been won. They weren't won. What's more, I believe we've truly tested both scenarios: the one where we go together as a united opposition, and the one where there are separate blocs, and in both of these scenarios, we haven't won. "I hope so [the Senate will be retained by the opposition]. If any of the senators seeks fortune on the side of the ruling party… I’m not surprised [by PiS]. It is their right [to conduct talks]. If they do not cross standards, if they do not corrupt senators, if they do not buy them, but that they want to gain a majority, I am not surprised. They are short one or two votes. I hope the Kałuża case does not repeat itself in the Senate. I vouch for PSL senators" - said the leader of PSL, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, in an interview with Karolina Lewicka on Radio TOK FM's Poranek.

• There are certain programmatic issues that are important to us, and there are certain programmatic adjustments that we believe should be made. Yesterday I confirmed to both my interlocutors that Porozumienie will not vote for the abolition of the 30-fold limit, and I think this issue will be taken off the agenda - stated Jarosław Gowin in an interview with Marek Kacprzak on the WP program "Tłit".

- I can name the politicians from Civic Platform who are talking about running in the presidential elections. I don't know who will run, I don't know if Donald Tusk will. I read it yesterday, because I didn't have the opportunity to watch Donald Tusk's interview, but I read it and had ambivalent feelings. Here we are 90% in agreement, and personal agreements, and here I think we are 100% in agreement between PiS and Porozumienie. Specifically, we had a very good conversation with President Kaczyński. „In the new term, matters in the Senate will proceed in a completely different way. We consider the convening of this Senate session a very dangerous precedent, much like the session of the Sejm, because although it falls within the boundaries of the law, it is inconsistent with previous parliamentary practice and may be used in the future for ill intentions and bad purposes. This is a bad precedent, and this precedent should not have happened in the case of the Sejm and the Senate” - said Bogdan Klich, head of the Civic Platform's Senate club, at a press conference.

„I appealed today on behalf of the club, together with Marshal Borusewicz, at the meeting of the Convention of Seniors to Marshal Karczewski, so that this Senate session would not take place” - he added.

- A huge success for Polish diplomacy. It is very good that behind the scenes of these difficult negotiations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Szymański, acted very effectively to achieve such a compromise. Therefore, we are very satisfied here – added the head of the Polish government.

- Poland points out that it is important to find new sources of financing for new priorities and areas, such as an aviation tax, a financial transaction tax, or a digital tax, because they will allow us to break out of the impasse we have been in for 18 months. - Yes, I am prepared to run in these elections because there must be some choice. This was clearly stated yesterday at the board meeting, that we are fortunate that PO is the most democratic party. Every member has one vote. However, I haven't made any decision yet, as I will be speaking with my colleagues. The most important thing now is to oversee what's happening in the Senate, to well organize the club's work, and introducing these emotions into the public sphere and shifting the entire burden onto internal elections now could end badly for the Platform itself. Let's conclude a certain stage, constitute the club, elect the Marshal of the Senate, the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, and then quickly conduct the electoral process - stated Borys Budka in an interview with Justyna Dobrosz-Oracz, when asked if he was prepared today to run in the elections for the leader of the Platform.

When asked if it was a strategic mistake by the Platform that the elections within the party could not be accelerated, as he had proposed, the PO politician replied: - I think someone misunderstood that statement. I'm not talking about shortening anyone's term. Grzegorz Schetyna's term ends in January 2020, this is stipulated in the statute, we all know this, and now it's purely a technical matter of when the elections will be held. And that's all. These elections can be held, the process can only begin in January. I believe it can be done as it was four years ago, meaning these elections can be held at the turn of the year, or by the end of December. These are absolutely not accelerated elections. This is important. No one wants to shorten anyone's term. This term is expiring, but one can be prepared for either Grzegorz Schetyna to confirm his mandate for another term, or for there to be a new leader, but for this transition to be very smooth.
