President Andrzej Duda continues his visit to the USA. The head of state will speak today – around midnight Polish time – in the general debate of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly. Earlier, at 3:00 PM, he will participate in the opening of the general debate, at 4:00 PM he will meet with journalists, and then with the President of Estonia at 5:00 PM and the President of Kazakhstan at 6:00 PM. The last scheduled item is the participation of the Presidential Couple in a reception hosted by the President of the USA and his spouse at 1:00 AM.

At 4:00 PM, the Senate committees on national defense and territorial self-government and state administration will review the act on flights for key state officials, also known as the VIP flight act. - We want to win these elections, of course, and if we win, as is also stated in our program, we will aim to form a new government that is even more efficient and better implements the Law and Justice program, for instance, by strengthening the Prime Minister's position or reorganizing economic ministries – said Jacek Sasin in a conversation with Piotr Gociek on "Sygnały dnia" (Signals of the Day) on Polish Radio One.

- As I suspect, based on my knowledge of political backrooms, the reason this decision has not yet been announced as final is because President Trump has announced he will be in Poland soon, and I believe he wants to announce this good news for us in Poland - said Jacek Sasin in an interview with Piotr Goćek on 'Sygnały dnia' (Signals of the Day) on Polish Radio One.

- These are standards that our political opponents wouldn't even dream of. - How is it that a gangster operates a business in the tenement house of the Minister of Finance and doesn't pay VAT, doesn't print fiscal receipts. So much talk about VAT drain from the budget, and here we have clear evidence in a journalistic report that this was happening in this building - said Jan Grabiec during a press conference.

Public opinion demands answers, and this is a very serious matter. We talked about this earlier, we talked about it over the weekend, I spoke about it on Sunday. Immediate resignation. This is a European standard, not from Latin America or far-off Asia. Immediate resignation, because the head of NIK must be like Caesar's wife: beyond all suspicion. And in this case, he certainly is not. Therefore, we expect decisive action – stated Grzegorz Schetyna at a briefing in Brussels.

- Of course, it is important [the rule of law]. This will be at the level of agreements with Commissioner Věra Jourová. We are here proponents of a very strong link to this situation, but this will be a debate among parliamentary groups, individual delegations. "I want to emphasize that President Banaś has strongly and unequivocally assessed this as slander, what has appeared in the media, and defamation. He also informed me that he will take this matter to court. Let's also allow the court to decide this matter, who has the right here. The media not only has the right, but a duty, to investigate all possible areas of politicians' actions, but a politician also has the right to defense against potential slander. Let's also give President Banaś the opportunity for such defense. He acted very appropriately" - Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said at a press conference.

- This opinion, and I'll remind you, that of the [Advocate General of the CJEU that preliminary questions from courts regarding the disciplinary system are inadmissible] is consistent with the European Commission's previous stance on this matter, and if we can talk about anything, it's certainly the embarrassment of the judges who submitted these questions. Because - firstly - this response demonstrates a lack of sufficient legal knowledge on the part of the judges who formulated these questions, and secondly, it confirms the politicization of these judges who instrumentally use the cases they are handling for de facto political warfare against the government, which is carrying out judicial reform. This is happening to the detriment of the cases that were being handled, as they have been suspended. One case I am aware of, a criminal one, the so-called 'finger-cutters' thread. “There is still a great deal to be done regarding the reform of the Polish judiciary and the Polish prosecution service. When it comes to the prosecution service, we have already achieved quite a lot. Facts bear this out. If we compare the effectiveness of the prosecution service in seizing assets of criminals during the period when the last Prosecutor General was a representative of Civic Platform, the total for the entire year was PLN 160 million. This year, by the end of August, the prosecution service had seized assets amounting to PLN 3 billion 300 million, and the year is not yet over.
