If We Win, We Will Aim to Form a New Government That Better Implements the PiS Program, Through Strengthening the Prime Minister's Position or Reorganizing Economic Ministries
- We want to win these elections, of course, and if we win, as is also stated in our program, we will aim to form a new government that is even more efficient and better implements the Law and Justice program, for instance, by strengthening the Prime Minister's position or reorganizing economic ministries – said Jacek Sasin in a conversation with Piotr Gociek on "Sygnały dnia" (Signals of the Day) on Polish Radio One.
07:34
- As I suspect, based on my knowledge of political backrooms, the reason this decision has not yet been announced as final is because President Trump has announced he will be in Poland soon, and I believe he wants to announce this good news for us in Poland - said Jacek Sasin in an interview with Piotr Goćek on 'Sygnały dnia' (Signals of the Day) on Polish Radio One.
07:38
- These are standards that our political opponents wouldn't even dream of. In a situation where, everything indicates, we are dealing with a pseudo-scandal, with another dud that was meant to hit Law and Justice - said Jacek Sasin in an interview with Piotr Goćka on "Sygnały dnia" on Polish Radio Jedynka.
07:53
Dworczyk:
Pre-audit analysis is not a procedure that excludes a politician from public life
- The pre-audit analysis, as the Minister of Justice stated, is not a procedure that excludes a politician from public life. I did not have such knowledge [that the Central Anticorruption Bureau decided it needed to initiate an official audit] and it probably would not be good if all politicians had detailed knowledge of the CBA's actions - stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".
07:59
Dworczyk:
It was good that Banaś decided on unpaid leave
- It was good that President Banaś issued his statement. If the information was manipulated, then I understand that he will file a lawsuit in court today as he announced, and I also believe it was good that he decided to suspend his function as President of the Supreme Audit Office (NIK) and decided to take unpaid leave until the matter is closed and clarified. For now, we are dealing with media information, and based on this media information, I believe that one should not draw overly far-reaching conclusions – stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".
08:02
Dworczyk:
I Have No Reason Not to Believe Banaś. His Life, Both Before 1989, When He Had a Distinguished Opposition Record, and Later, Fighting Various Pathologies, Has Proved He Is an Honest Man
– I am basing my stance on what President Banaś says. I have no reason not to believe him. His life, both in the times before 1989, when he had a distinguished opposition record, and later, fighting various pathologies, such as VAT mafias or building the fiscal system, has proven that he is an honest man, and I currently have no grounds not to believe his words – stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".
08:03
08:07
- Certainly, this matter [of the NIK head] will be a subject of discussion among the country's most important politicians. I don't want to talk about procedures and specific actions that the Prime Minister is taking or will take. If you are asking about the CBA's actions, I encourage you to discuss that with the spokesperson - stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's 'Piasecki's Conversation'.
08:07
- It's possible to manipulate any media or press material to portray almost anyone negatively - Paweł Mucha said in an interview with Wojciech Dąbrowski on Polsat News's "Graffiti".
- Are you saying this is manipulation? - the journalist inquired.
- Marian Banaś says so directly - Mucha replied.

„This situation yesterday with Madam Speaker Lubnauer, essentially with a representative of a state body like the Marshal's Guard, sent shivers down my spine. The letters I receive or the threats, it has never been proven that they are sent by someone who is appointed to protect citizens or MPs. Something is wrong with us, with us as a society. And the fact that state bodies, those who influence public opinion, who govern hundreds of souls and minds, do not react or react with a wink is terrifying. If an MP cannot feel safe, what about an ordinary citizen?” - said the Mayor of Gdańsk, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, in an interview with Karolina Lewicka on Radio TOK FM's Poranek.

Accusations by one station need clarification, though NIK President's statement yesterday personally convinces me
- I am convinced that Minister Banaś is telling the truth. Therefore, let's wait for explanations. He acted in the way he should have in these circumstances. He requested a quasi-suspension from his duties, meaning unpaid leave, he asked the Marshal of the Sejm for it, and he will not hold this position until the matter is clarified. That is how he should behave when there are such doubts. In the case of Civic Platform, for instance with President Kwiatkowski, such standards were not observed, nor in many other cases - stated Piotr Müller in a conversation with Krzysztof Ziemiec on TVP1's "Political Quarter Hour".
- These accusations, which have been formulated by one of the stations, need to be clarified, although what NIK President Marian Banaś said yesterday personally convinces me - added the government spokesperson.

I Didn't Know Banasi's Financial Statement Was Being Investigated by CBA
“The president addressed this – I saw it yesterday evening. I think he explained everything. However, there is a CBA investigation concerning financial statements, I believe” - said Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.
“I didn’t know [that Banasi’s financial statement was being investigated by CBA]. The CBA doesn’t inform everyone about that” - he added.

I Don't Fully Trust the Services. Not Then, Not Now. There Are Still Many People from the Previous Team There
- I think it's a shame that the checking [of Marian Banaś] didn't conclude before his appointment. However, the calendar was what it was, and the services operate as they operate. I observed how they functioned during the work of the services committee and the Amber Gold affair; there was a war within the services then. Some forbade others from handling the Amber Gold case, and people were even dismissed from the service. Given how that service operated, I don't have full trust in it. No, I don't [have full trust in the services]. Not then, not now. That's because there are still many people from the previous team there – stated Marek Suski in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.
10:21
Suski:
"Our Lives Are Full of Question Marks. Only God Knows the Truth. Our Services Are Investigating. We Will Wait Until the Investigation is Complete."
- Perhaps [Marian Banaś received the tenement house]. I understand that in an election campaign, every detail will be used, and question marks – our lives are full of question marks. Only God knows the truth. And our services are investigating. We will wait until this verification process is finished, and then something can be said - stated Marek Suski in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

Witek:
I Haven't Met with Banaś. I Also Have No Leave Request. I Can Speak in the Highest Praise of the NIK President
"I have not yet met with President Marian Banaś. I also have no [leave] request. Without a conversation, there will be no credible answer from me. I have known President Banaś for a very long time and I can speak of him in the highest praise. Every matter must be clarified. This one too. The President made such a decision or proposal that he would like to take unpaid leave until the CBA completes the investigation into his financial statements. I know this should conclude in mid-October, and then we will know everything" - stated the Marshal of the Sejm, Elżbieta Witek, in a conversation with journalists in parliament.
10:35
"I did not have [information about the criminals who rented Banasi's Krakow tenement]. I was the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration for two months and a bit. In fact, I took office around the time the police celebrated their centenary. I was not aware of this type of matter. Had I been in the Ministry of Interior and Administration for longer, such knowledge would certainly have reached me. But it was too short a time for me to find out about it. It's not the case that the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration is informed about every single case during their two months in office" - said Sejm Marshal Elżbieta Witek in a conversation with journalists in parliament.
10:35
“This is egregious, scandalous. I have stated this. This is an officer with 19 years of service. I will be meeting with the head of this service shortly. Actions will be taken immediately. They have already been initiated. There is disciplinary proceedings underway. There is no place in service for such individuals. [Guards] always undergo psychological examinations. This gentleman also had psychological examinations. There are also periodic examinations. This gentleman passed his periodic examinations positively. This certainly needs to be analyzed” – said Sejm Marshal Elżbieta Witek in a conversation with journalists in parliament.

We Would Like Poland to be a Crystal State, Governed by People Painfully Honest. Perhaps Some Scratches Have Appeared, But It's Not a Pile of Stones and a Cardboard State
– We would indeed like Poland to be a crystal country, governed by people who are, let's say, painfully honest. I can say that some scratches have appeared, but it's not a pile of stones and a cardboard state. If accidents happen, and among thousands of people working in various central, state institutions... Such things can happen. Only in our case, there is a reaction. If we verify something, people leave. From the other side, there was the building of a protective wall, and that's how we differ. We are not angels. It's not that we suddenly have some apparatus here for X-raying everything – stated Marek Suski in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

Grabiec:
We Demand Immediate Information from the Central Anticorruption Bureau on Control Results, Presenting to the Public the Source of the NIK President's Assets
- We demand immediate information from the Central Anticorruption Bureau regarding the results of the control, the conclusion of this control. We demand that the public be informed about the origin of the assets of the President of the Supreme Audit Office, and previously the Minister of Finance. We demand this information before the upcoming elections - said Jan Grabiec during a press conference.
11:00
- How is it that a gangster operates a business in the tenement house of the Minister of Finance and doesn't pay VAT, doesn't print fiscal receipts. So much talk about VAT drain from the budget, and here we have clear evidence in a journalistic report that this was happening in this building - said Jan Grabiec during a press conference.
11:04
- Firstly, the Civic Platform has nothing to do with this profile. I want to emphasize this very firmly and clearly. All other issues are superfluous when it comes to these kinds of discussions and explanations, because they will always be fuel for those who accuse us of completely irrelevant matters - said Mariusz Witczak during a press conference.

PiS's View: Pre-Judicial Questions Posed by Judge Tuleja et al. are Purely Political and Pretextual Actions to Wage War Against PiS in Poland
– The opinion of the Advocate General [of the CJEU that pre-judicial questions from courts concerning the disciplinary system are inadmissible] aligns with the Polish government's stance, although we must remember that, as always, we are dealing with the Advocate General's opinion. Just as in the ongoing proceedings before the CJEU, we argued that the Advocate General's opinion is not binding, the same applies this time. We must calmly await the conclusion of the proceedings before the court. However, in PiS's opinion, these pre-judicial questions posed by Judge Tuleja and others are purely political and, in reality, pretextual actions aimed at waging war against PiS in Poland. Therefore, we will present this position before the court, but of course, only its judgment will be binding – stated Radosław Fogiel at a press conference.

The Budget is Very Well Tailored. It's a Development Budget

Jachira apologized for the incident, and I know it will never happen again
- This slogan is from the Youth Climate Strike. She stood next to this slogan and these participants of the strike. The photo is unfortunate. Of course, the background, the monument of the Polish Underground State - a sacred thing that is beyond all question and discussion for all of us. Klaudia Jachira apologized for this incident, and I know that it will never happen again. One needs to be very careful here, not only during a campaign, but on a daily basis - stated Grzegorz Schetyna at a briefing in Brussels.
13:04
- You ask me about "Beetroot Juice" every day, several times a day. I will answer once more: the internet is indeed a great tool, we can share various information, joke, and laugh. Let's take care to ensure the internet is friendly, that we don't use hate speech or insult each other. Let's remember that everything on the internet is recorded, and everyone will eventually have to admit if they have done something wrong. But let's treat this as a substitute topic, because we came here to talk about health - stated Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska at a briefing in Brussels.

PMM:
We want to leave the Earth as clean as possible for future generations. We are introducing the 'ekoKPRM' program
- We want to leave the Earth as clean as possible for future generations, Poland as green and ecologically cared for as possible. That's why we are introducing the 'ekoKPRM' program. We want to start with ourselves, because it's known that examples are best when someone shows in their own backyard how to clean it up - said Mateusz Morawiecki during a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).
- Let tens of tons of plastic used by the government administration itself be eliminated as quickly as possible. In 2020, we want the entire government, the entire public administration to be as ecological as possible - added the Prime Minister.
13:11
- That's a rather absurd explanation for this outrageous matter. If someone, after such serious accusations that have resounded in the media and continue to echo in Poland, says that the answer is unpaid leave, and the CBA adds in the second paragraph that the audit of his financial statement, which has been ongoing for 4 years, will conclude in the second half of October, meaning after the elections, it's simply pathetic. Normally, I'd smile, but there's no reason to laugh when a person who was the head of KAS [National Revenue Administration], responsible for all control systems and mechanisms concerning the tax office and taxes, then Minister of Finance, and today heads the Supreme Audit Office (NIK), is unable to explain themselves, to submit a financial statement that is beyond discussion and suspicion. They explain themselves in an absurd manner and are effectively asking for unpaid leave to wait until the elections and then address the issue – it's a joke. Public opinion demands answers, and this is a very serious matter. We talked about this earlier, we talked about it over the weekend, I spoke about it on Sunday. Immediate resignation. This is a European standard, not from Latin America or far-off Asia. Immediate resignation, because the head of NIK must be like Caesar's wife: beyond all suspicion. And in this case, he certainly is not. Therefore, we expect decisive action – stated Grzegorz Schetyna at a briefing in Brussels.
13:17
Schetyna:
We Advocate for Rule of Law to Be Considered When Allocating EU Budget and Support
- Of course, it is important [the rule of law]. This will be at the level of agreements with Commissioner Věra Jourová. We are here proponents of a very strong link to this situation, but this will be a debate among parliamentary groups, individual delegations. Our opinion here is unequivocal and we are not changing it. Yes, yes, meaning with funds. Not to take them away, but for these rule of law issues to be taken into account when allocating the budget and support for EU member states - stated Grzegorz Schetyna at a briefing in Brussels.

This Government Acted Efficiently and Eliminated the Sewage Discharge from the 'Czajka' Treatment Plant. I Haven't Even Heard a Thank You From Their Side
- This government acted efficiently and eliminated the sewage discharge from the 'Czajka' wastewater treatment plant, which was constructed incorrectly and the Warsaw authorities couldn't cope with it. I haven't even heard a thank you from their side, but perhaps they will reflect on it yet - said Mateusz Morawiecki during a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).
13:35
“President Banaś acted very appropriately at this moment, because he himself, in a way, suspended himself under these circumstances, leaving room for the Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA) to act, so that they could thoroughly investigate the procedures they had previously initiated. Let me remind you that the explanatory procedure has been ongoing for several months and is due to conclude in October. In literally a couple of weeks, we will know the opinions from the independent services assessing the entire situation” – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.
13:36
PMM:
Banaś Deems Media Reports Slander and Defamation. Media Has a Duty to Investigate Politicians' Actions, but Politicians Also Have the Right to Defense Against Potential Slander
"I want to emphasize that President Banaś has strongly and unequivocally assessed this as slander, what has appeared in the media, and defamation. He also informed me that he will take this matter to court. Let's also allow the court to decide this matter, who has the right here. The media not only has the right, but a duty, to investigate all possible areas of politicians' actions, but a politician also has the right to defense against potential slander. Let's also give President Banaś the opportunity for such defense. He acted very appropriately" - Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said at a press conference.
15:10
- This opinion, and I'll remind you, that of the [Advocate General of the CJEU that preliminary questions from courts regarding the disciplinary system are inadmissible] is consistent with the European Commission's previous stance on this matter, and if we can talk about anything, it's certainly the embarrassment of the judges who submitted these questions. Because - firstly - this response demonstrates a lack of sufficient legal knowledge on the part of the judges who formulated these questions, and secondly, it confirms the politicization of these judges who instrumentally use the cases they are handling for de facto political warfare against the government, which is carrying out judicial reform. This is happening to the detriment of the cases that were being handled, as they have been suspended. One case I am aware of, a criminal one, the so-called 'finger-cutters' thread. I do not believe it is appropriate for criminals to in any way benefit from the inaction of a court that is seeking pretexts in the legal bases of the EU, which - as we hear - do not exist - stated Zbigniew Ziobro at a press conference in Września.
15:13
Ziobro:
Much More to Be Done in Judicial and Prosecutorial Reform, But Initial Actions Are Yielding Results
“There is still a great deal to be done regarding the reform of the Polish judiciary and the Polish prosecution service. When it comes to the prosecution service, we have already achieved quite a lot. Facts bear this out. If we compare the effectiveness of the prosecution service in seizing assets of criminals during the period when the last Prosecutor General was a representative of Civic Platform, the total for the entire year was PLN 160 million. This year, by the end of August, the prosecution service had seized assets amounting to PLN 3 billion 300 million, and the year is not yet over. This best demonstrates that certain actions we have already taken are bringing results,” said Minister Zbigniew Ziobro at a press conference in Września.
15:20
- [The Advocate General's opinion at the ECJ] confirms our diagnosis that these judges' decisions to suspend specific cases were dictated by political motivation, a desire to obstruct the government's efforts in undertaking a difficult judicial reform, and we learn that judges lack elementary legal knowledge, which is, after all, essential for the effective application of Polish and European law, given that both the European Commission and the ECJ Advocate General state that these questions are unfounded – Zbigniew Ziobro stated at a press conference in Września.

We didn't discuss these topics in detail, and frankly, we didn't have much opportunity to talk as we met in the hallway. - There was no discussion about it at all. On the contrary, as you may have heard, one of the American journalists during our meeting with the media, when I was together with President Donald Trump, said that an Iranian politician had come up with an initiative for a peaceful resolution of the armed conflict in Yemen, and President Donald Trump said that it would be very good if it were true that such a signal had come from the Iranian side - said President Andrzej Duda during a press briefing in New York.

Today, I informed the Speaker of the Sejm of this decision - wrote the head of the Supreme Audit Office, Marian Banaś, in a statement.

- I think that in this situation, it was a minimal, but necessary decision [by Marian Banas to take leave]. We will see what the results of all these inspections or investigations will be, including journalistic ones. Because what we know is undoubtedly, to put it mildly, outrageous - stated Aleksander Kwaśniewski in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program 'Gość Wydarzeń' (Guest of Events) on Polsat News.
19:47
Kwaśniewski:
25-27% for Civic Platform is Realistic, but a Significant Loss to PiS, Which Will Have its 42%
- Elections have a way of being unpredictable until they actually happen. However, for me, a reliable poll was the European elections. That was a genuine vote with high turnout. And the result there was that PiS got 42.5% or something around that, and the entire coalition that has now split got 39%. So, I think 25-27% for Civic Platform is a realistic result, but it is still a significant loss to PiS, which will have its 42% - stated Aleksander Kwaśniewski in a conversation with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.
19:48
Kwaśniewski:
The Banaś Case Won't Be a Game Changer
- The Banaś case will probably harm them, but only fractionally. It won't be a trend changer, it won't be a game changer, as it's popularly said nowadays - stated Aleksander Kwaśniewski in a conversation with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń" program.
19:54
- I believe it was the right decision at the right time. Please remember that in an election campaign, surprise, the element of surprise, matters, and PiS was surprised by this decision - said Marcin Kierwiński in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" on Polsat News.
19:58
Kierwiński:
Poland's real threat is losing 100 billion PLN due to the ineptitude of the PiS government. Today, the opposition must act as Poland's ambassador to the EU.
– The role of politicians is to discuss important issues. Today, the real threat to Poland is the loss of 100 billion PLN, due to the ineptitude of the PiS government. Today, the opposition must play the role of Poland's ambassador to the European Union. Grzegorz Schetyna and Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska must play this role – said Marcin Kierwiński in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" on Polsat News.
20:02
Kwaśniewski:
There's likely a Kidawa-Błońska effect, though I wouldn't expect a fundamental one. A shift from the coalition to the Left is possible due to the Left's ideological clarity.

Kierwiński:
Banas's Resignation is an Obvious Necessity. After What We've Seen, More Should Follow. CBA and ABW Failed to Detect It
- Mr. Banas's resignation is an obvious necessity. After what we've seen, more resignations should follow. The CBA failed to detect it, the ABW failed to detect it - said Marcin Kierwiński in a conversation with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News's "Wydarzenia i Opinie" program.

The Polish state is not paper and artificial, it is not cardboard. It correctly calculates our political actions, including in international relations, and thanks to this, it can resolve long-awaited issues such as visas to the United States,” said Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński in an interview with Edyta Lewandowska on “Gość Wiadomości” on TVP Info.

If 'Beetroot Juice' is a Hateful Profile, I Don't Know What to Call the TVP Info Portal
- I don't like many of the contents there. However, if 'Beetroot Juice' is a hateful profile, then I don't know what to call the TVP Info portal. I really don't know. The haters would have a lot to learn from TVP Info - said Marcin Kierwiński in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" on Polsat News.

"I would propose that we don't even talk about it. We can sympathize with all of us that this is offensive to us. We shouldn't discuss such acculturated, amoral episodes at all. These individuals should be excluded from public life. We do not agree to this. It should also probably be assessed in terms of, I don't know, whether it's not a violation of the law," said Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński about Klaudia Jachira's happening "Beans, Hummus, Vegetables" in an interview with Edyta Lewandowska on "Gość Wiadomości" on TVP Info.

HEADLINE:
Facts: NIK President on Leave Won't Escape Questions; Events: PiS Holds Strong in Polls for Now
Gliński on Jachira's campaign: We shouldn't even discuss these kinds of acculturated, amoral episodes. These individuals should be excluded from public life.
Kierwiński: If "Sok z Buraka" is a hate profile, then I don't know what to call TVP Info's portal.
Gliński on visa abolition to the USA: After many years of waiting, something that should have been done long ago. Once again, it turns out we succeeded. The Polish state is not paper and artificial, it's not cardboard.
Kierwiński: Banaś's resignation is a foregone conclusion. After what we've seen, there should be more. The CBA and ABW failed to detect this.
Kwaśniewski: There is likely an effect from Kidawa-Błońska, although I wouldn't expect a fundamental one. There's a possible shift from the coalition to the Left, due to the Left's ideological clarity.
Kierwiński: The real threat to Poland is the loss of PLN 100 billion because the PiS government is incompetent. Today, the opposition must play the role of ambassador to the EU.
Kierwiński on Kidawa-Błońska's candidacy: It was the right decision at the right time. Surprise matters, and PiS was surprised.
Kwaśniewski: The Banaś affair won't be a game changer.
Kwaśniewski: 25-27% for Civic Platform is a realistic result, but it's still a significant gap behind PiS, which will have its 42%.
Kwaśniewski on Banaś's decision: In this situation, it was a minimal but necessary decision.
