- There are no independent individuals in PiS. I believe that if the party leader calls, he [Marian Banaś] will resign. This matter is of enormous magnitude, it's a very serious crisis. It concerns a person who headed the tax and customs administration for several years, and now serves as the President of NIK (Supreme Audit Office). Someone like that should be beyond any suspicion - stated Tomasz Siemoniak in a conversation with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- PiS members are above the law. They believe nothing will touch them, and indeed their passion for real estate is quite astonishing. It turns out to be a party of developers, of millionaires. How many people have tenements in Krakow that can be rented out for such purposes? - The problem is that under PiS rule, there is a caste of untouchable people whom no one can touch or investigate. And Mr. Banaś is an example of this – the Civic Platform politician continued.

He is a man who has saved us all tens of billions of zlotys annually, which previously flowed to VAT mafias. "It wasn't PiS that appointed anyone, but the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. That's how it was, is, and will be. Democracy is constructed in such a way that there is always a parliamentary majority, and yet until recently we said that it was the Sejm and the Senate that appointed various officials. I know the President’s history as someone who fought determinedly and ruthlessly against various pathologies: VAT mafias, a leaky tax system. Previously, he had a distinguished opposition record. Journalistic material accuses him of specific actions. The President, Mr. Banaś, presents a different version of these events and announces a lawsuit. To my knowledge, Mr. Marian Banaś was the owner of a tenement house that was rented out as a hotel” – Minister Michał Dworczyk said in an interview with Dominika Wielowieyska on TOK FM Radio’s morning program.

- If we talk about colourful language and aggression in speech, Grzegorz Schetyna is truly unrivalled on the Polish political scene. However, I greatly appreciate, and I say this ironically, Grzegorz Schetyna's concern for standards and his desire – as he also formulates expectations – for the resignations of the most important people in the state. We are talking here about the President of NIK (Supreme Audit Office) after one report on a television station which, let's be honest, doesn't exactly distinguish itself with particular objectivity when it comes to politicians associated with the United Right camp. Yet, when it comes to his own colleagues, such as Sławomir Neumann, who faces prosecutorial charges, and furthermore, we recently know how he overstepped standards in spending public funds, or MP Brejza, whom we know organised a hate campaign in Inowrocław using public money, his standards seem to look entirely different. Is he prepared to defend them to the bitter end and keep them in high party positions? Therefore, it is better for Grzegorz Schetyna to refrain from commenting on standards and scandals, as he himself has a lot on his conscience - stated Jacek Sasin in an interview with Paweł Lisicki on "Salon polityczny Trójki" (Political Salon of Trójka).

“[President Banaś] is no longer the owner of this property today. He previously rented it out and had no influence over what the tenants [were doing in the property]” – Minister Michał Dworczyk said in an interview with Dominika Wielowieyska on TOK FM Radio's Morning Program.

- The budget [for 2020] has not yet been adopted by the government. It must be done this week, which we have started, and until that point, the discussion [regarding the abolition of the 30-fold limit] will likely continue. It is always the case that with decisions of this type, important decisions, including budgetary ones, talks and the search for compromise, including within the government, last until the very last moment - stated Jacek Sasin in an interview with Paweł Lisicki in "Trójka Political Salon".

„I see these threats in the activities of the Minister of Culture, Mr. Gliński. Film, I must say, has been affected to a relatively lesser extent, but when it comes to theatres, it started very quickly, with changes at the Polski Theatre and attempts at censorship of the play, followed by the removal of the management that had built the ensemble, and the appointment of a director who soon proved to be not only incompetent, not only unable to cope with the ensemble, but also not very honest. This director was defended tooth and nail, until the theatre was essentially destroyed. Subsequently, similar decisions were made in the case of the Stary Theatre. - Firstly, it is difficult for us to comment on the allegations concerning the President of NIK. It is an institution independent of the government. However, this does not change the fact that yesterday Minister Banaś, the former minister, now the President of NIK, clearly and unequivocally emphasized in his statement that the material is an attempt at manipulation and that he will take the matter to court. It is now difficult to refer to this material in any other way because we also do not know the specific facts. Let's wait a few days. I think this matter will be clarified – stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

- We can possibly discuss the ethical assessment, whether the President of NIK was aware of this situation, and I think this will be determined this week. Meanwhile, the President of NIK himself indicated that he would take the matter to court. So I am counting on him actually doing so, in accordance with his declarations – emphasized the government spokesperson.

No, the draft [of the 2020 budget] will probably not be on the agenda for tomorrow's Council of Ministers meeting, but it will of course be adopted within the statutory deadline of September 30th. - We wanted, first and foremost, to bow with great respect to those who fought and made it possible for us to call this place Poland. Regardless of whether they were Polish soldiers or Soviet soldiers, of whom approximately 700,000 died on our country's territory. These people liberated us. These people gave us freedom from Germany and Germans, from fascists – Włodzimierz Czarzasty said during a press conference in Szczecin.

- It seems that Mrs. Kidawa-Błońska will be the Civic Coalition's candidate [for president], for whom the "prime ministerial" campaign will be a trial run and a way to build recognition - stated Aleksander Kwaśniewski in an interview with Łukasz Kijek on Gazeta.pl's Morning Conversation.

- Donald Tusk, with his entire historical legacy, will be condemned to discussions about the past, and elections are won by talking about the future. Public media, especially if they remain under PiS's control, will do everything they can to prevent Tusk from escaping the cage of the past - emphasized the former president.

- It's also a matter of dignity for Szczecin to be a place where important national issues are addressed, for an institution that the whole of Poland will talk about to be established here in Szczecin. This is happening across our border, with our neighbours. Institutions, regional capitals, important offices, including constitutional tribunals, are being moved to such towns. Why couldn't the Constitutional Tribunal, like Germany's in Karlsruhe, be located in Szczecin? - said Robert Biedroń during a press conference in Szczecin.

- On Saturday, Chairman Grzegorz Schetyna demanded a very swift reaction and Marian Banaś's resignation from his post. Today, we reiterate this demand, and today is the day when this resignation must be shown to public opinion as quickly as possible. In such a situation, after such a resignation, Marshal Witek must urgently convene an extraordinary Sejm session to accept this resignation, and a new person must be elected to the position of President of NIK as soon as possible – stated Mariusz Witczak during a press conference.

European banks must undergo a process of digital transformation, regardless of the difficult macroeconomic and regulatory environment. This transformation will give them a chance to reduce the gap with US banks – assessed Michał Krupiński, CEO of Bank Pekao S.A., in an interview with Bloomberg TV. - I think the current situation with interest rates in Western Europe and the regulatory environment should not be treated as an excuse for banks to change. We have too many banks in Europe – therefore, consolidation should occur. On the other hand, we observe the results of banks in the United States, which are undergoing this transformation and discussing the technology of the future – said Michał Krupiński. In the opinion of the Pekao CEO, the situation of the banking sector in Poland looks somewhat different, with a projected GDP growth of around 4.5%, making it the second fastest-growing economy in Europe. - The Polish banking sector is very stable and well-capitalized, despite the existing bank tax – said Krupiński. However, he added that the Polish sector faces challenges, including a potential unfavorable ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) regarding Swiss franc loans. - We are in a good situation because Bank Pekao's exposure to Swiss franc mortgages is negligible. However, a systemic problem could of course arise if the ruling is more conservative – commented Krupiński. The CEO of Pekao also reaffirmed the bank's strategic financial goals, pointing out that the second-quarter results grew at a double-digit pace. – Our growth in retail banking is the fastest in 10 years, and in the case of medium-sized companies – it amounts to 20 percent. As a bank, we also have significant savings and very stable risk and operational costs, so we are optimistic about achieving 3 billion PLN in net profit next year, which translates to a 12.5% ROE – he concluded.

"The PO-led Warsaw City Hall has reneged on its promises, and there were no funds for nurseries or additional kindergarten activities. There was no extra money for the disabled. There isn't enough money to pay a small compensation to the daughter of the murdered Jolanta Brzeska, yet money was found for the person organizing 'Beetroot Juice'. The biggest cesspool, sewer, and hate factory on the internet, financed by Warsaw residents' money, directly to the person who organized all of this. This is unbelievable" – said PiS MEP Patryk Jaki at a press conference.

"Tomorrow I will file a report to the prosecutor's office regarding the potential commission of a crime through the use of public funds for organized hate and fakes on an unbelievable scale" – he added.

"BOŚ is over 70% owned by the Polish state. As befits a state-owned bank, its supervisory board includes Jarosław Kaczyński's close friend, Ms. Janina Goss. Also on the board is President Duda's advisor and a whole host of other individuals long associated with PiS. We have come to find out how things stood with the loan to Mr. Marian Banaś, or rather, the loan taken out by his son's company, for which the collateral was a tenement house then owned by Marian Banaś. We would like to ask if this loan was not granted through a 'phone call' procedure, similar to the loan at Pekao SA for the Srebrna company for the construction of two towers," said Izabela Leszczyna at a press conference.

"We want to find out if this loan was granted like to any passerby who would ask for a loan. Were other individuals from the families of PiS government members also granted loans here under a special procedure? Were loans granted to Mr. Banaś's son's company in other state institutions, such as NFOŚ or WFOŚ? This is a bank where public money is held," added Jarosław Urbaniak from Civic Platform.

- I am shocked by this situation, by this news - stated Agnieszka Kaczmarska, head of the Chancellery of the Sejm, in a conversation with journalists at the Sejm. - There will be consequences for the person who committed such acts. I have requested the commander [of the Marshal's Guard] for disciplinary dismissal from service - she emphasized, adding that it was a rank-and-file officer.

- An officer of the Marshal's Guard, with 19 years of service, was detained by the Police in connection with a report concerning the directing of punishable threats against a public figure. There were no reservations regarding the course of his over ten years of service to date. In connection with the above, the Head of the Chancellery of the Sejm, at the request of the Commander of the Marshal's Guard, immediately suspended the accused officer from duty and demanded that steps be taken to immediately dismiss him from service. At the same time, in accordance with the Act on the Marshal's Guard, disciplinary proceedings against the officer were immediately initiated - informed the Sejm Information Centre in a statement.

- Sustainable development doesn't mean there are 16 provincial cities. Sustainable development includes former provincial cities, all small and medium-sized towns, and the Polish countryside. It's all of Poland. We cannot look at Poland solely through the prism of Warsaw. We talk a lot about de-concentration. About moving central institutions towards cities other than Poland's capital. It's a good idea. We see nothing wrong with central institutions, as is the case in Western Europe, being located in various places, not necessarily in Warsaw - said Włodzimierz Czarzasty during a press conference in Zielona Góra.

One of the candidates on the Warsaw list for Civic Platform conducted a so-called "happening" which involved the profanation of a slogan and words inscribed, among other places, on this monument – words sacred to many thousands of people who fought for Poland's freedom over the last 200 years, for Poland to be an independent and democratic country. Since then, we have been receiving words of outrage and consternation from veteran circles regarding what happened - said Michał Dworczyk at a briefing in front of the Sejm. - As the head of the Office for Combatants and Victims of Repression, I have been receiving calls and holding conversations for days with veterans who are shaken, deeply shaken by what has happened here. This is a sacred place, consecrated by John Paul II to the eternal glory of Polish arms, the arms and soldiers who died for these sacred words, the words God, Honor, Fatherland, written on their banners. Today I spoke with the Chairman of the Council for Combatants and Victims of Repression, Bogusław Nizieński, who says there are no words to express the outrage for something like this, for the profanation of a slogan for which Poles have died for 200 years, for which they have shed their blood. Similar words of indignation are coming from circles of the Home Army, the National Armed Forces, the Peasant Battalions, and soldiers of the Polish Armed Forces in the West. This is unacceptable, especially since this happening took place precisely here, where these words are inscribed as an eternal memorial. For these words, which are a symbol and indeed the culmination of our path to independence, it was a compass that guided hundreds of thousands of our countrymen, shedding blood in the Warsaw Uprising, in the defensive war of 1939, so that we might be free. The veterans say one thing: they are shaken, they cannot imagine such a situation ever occurring - Jan Józef Kasprzyk continued. - Politics is very brutal, especially during an election campaign. Sharp words are spoken. The Polish political scene is highly polarized, but there are certain boundaries that should not be crossed by anyone. I have been in the Sejm for a very long time, and the cooperation with the Marshal's Guard always went very well. Joint Declaration of the Presidents of Poland and the USA on Deepening Defense Cooperation

The Republic of Poland (Poland) and the United States of America (United States) continue to strengthen their strategic and defense relations, which enhance our mutual security and the security of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

Building upon the "Joint Declaration on Defense Cooperation Regarding the Presence of United States Armed Forces on the Territory of the Republic of Poland" signed on June 12, 2019, we are continuing work on a plan to strengthen military ties between Poland and the United States, and to enhance American defense and deterrence capabilities in Poland.

These capabilities currently include approximately 4,500 rotational U.S. military personnel. As noted, this enduring presence is expected to be increased in the near future by approximately 1,000 additional U.S. military personnel.

Poland and the United States have agreed on locations for the planned increased presence of U.S. military forces.

Poznań has been designated as the location for the V Corps Forward Command Post and support elements of the U.S. Army.

Drawsko Pomorskie has been designated as the primary location for a Combat Training Center for joint use by the Polish and U.S. Armed Forces.

Wrocław-Strachowice has been designated as the location for a U.S. Air Force aerial port of debarkation.

Łask has been designated as the location for a U.S. Air Force remotely piloted aircraft squadron.

Powidz has been designated as the location for an aviation combat brigade, a combat sustainment support battalion, and a special operations forces facility.

Lubliniec has been designated as the location for an additional special operations forces facility.

Furthermore, Poland and the United States are engaged in extensive dialogue regarding the most suitable location in Poland for an armored rotational brigade combat team. These discussions are ongoing, reflecting Poland's and the United States' close operational and strategic cooperation. Poland and the United States share optimism about agreeing on the location of an armored rotational brigade combat team.

Poland and the United States reaffirm their shared commitment to pursuing the international agreements and arrangements necessary to implement enhanced infrastructure cooperation and defense cooperation, including the improved functioning of U.S. armed forces in Poland.
