Siemoniak:
We've Always Supported Increased US Military Presence in Poland, But the Ruling Camp Wants to Use This Propaganda to Mask the Military's Dire State and Stalled Modernization
“We have always been in favour of increasing the American military presence in Poland. Decisions in this area were made between 2008-2012 and concerned the anti-missile shield near Słupsk. Since 2012, American aviators have been present in Poland, and since 2014, following the annexation of Crimea, American ground forces arrived in this part of Europe in response to this serious crisis. However, we are concerned that the ruling camp wants to use propaganda to mask these necessary decisions regarding an additional thousand soldiers increasing the American presence, portraying it as an event on par with joining NATO, a historic breakthrough, and wants to conceal with these decisions the fact that after nearly 4 years in government, the army is in a dire state, modernization has disappeared, has been halted, and that the Polish defence industry has never been in a worse situation than it is right now” – stated PO Vice-Chairman Tomasz Siemoniak at a press conference in the Sejm.
