Wójcik on the So-Called Age of Consent: 'To My Knowledge, Yesterday Evening, During Commission Works, an Amendment Was Submitted That Reinstates 15 Years'
- To my knowledge, yesterday evening, during commission works, an amendment was submitted that reinstates the age at 15 years. Please do not interpret this as a withdrawal. The legislative process is ongoing, and according to my knowledge, one of the MPs submitted such an amendment, and the commission adopted it. One can defend the age of 16, because here there is only this case, if it occurred, for example, in this phenomenon, in this situation, if someone was, for instance, 19 years old, this age proximity, it gave the court the possibility to refrain from imposing a penalty or to exceptionally mitigate it. However, due to, among other things, the provision in the Family and Guardianship Code, that a woman, upon marrying earlier, this age limit is lowered, we have concluded that 15 years will be the good limit, i.e., no changes – stated Michał Wójcik in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".
