Friday marks another day of the Senate session. The upper house will address, among other things, a bill establishing November 12, 2018, as a holiday. It is possible that an amendment concerning trade will be introduced to the bill, as discussed yesterday by Piotr Duda. The resumption of the session is scheduled for 9:00 AM.

At the end of the Senate session, a block of votes is planned, during which senators will, among other things, approve the candidacy of Agnieszka Dudzińska for the position of Children's Ombudsman.

The truth is, it's impossible to form a majority in many regional assemblies, and it's impossible to form a majority in the Sejm without the SLD and the PSL. “I prefer to communicate with Mr. Schetyna, because he seems to be a person who has constructed some value. I understand that Ms. Lubnauer is helping him, but a boss talks to a boss” - he added.

On the one hand, words summarizing the local government elections, but on the other hand, probably also words concerning the challenges that lie ahead of us. I am glad that we will be able to discuss this topic in Radom – stated Wojciech Skurkiewicz on PR24.

"The D'Hondt method took us down. We must draw conclusions from this, and we will draw them in a non-arrogant, distanced manner. Our goal is to return to the Sejm. We've been through a lot, we're out of Parliament. A difficult path back" - said the leader of SLD, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, on Polish Radio's Program I.

„I am always considering cooperation with Robert Biedroń, and he is always considering cooperation with me, with SLD. I have always spoken well of Mr. Biedroń. He has always spoken [well] of SLD too. It would be great to forge a partnership for the European elections between the Greens, Together, Biedroń, if he decides to establish what he intends to establish, SLD, and other left-wing structures. - I have a very serious problem with this. On the one hand, such celebrations happen once in 100 years, but to go and listen to some invectives or to pretend not to have heard invectives addressed to myself before, addressed to the entire political camp, which has been defined as second-class citizens, as traitorous faces. Frankly, I don't have much of an appetite for that - said Bronisław Komorowski in an interview with Beata Lubecka on "Radio Zet's Conversation".

- It is much easier to tell jokes like that in Poland, where everyone understands the context, associations, etc., and much harder if it has to be translated into another language. The President made that mistake. He probably thought he was joking cheerfully, but German media took it very seriously - Bronisław Komorowski said in an interview with Beata Lubecka on "Radio Zet's Conversation".

- I only saw the German President's face. I must say we know each other well, and I know he is a man capable of a joke, and here I saw him looking at his feet with embarrassment – Komorowski added.

- The elections are behind us. Now the United Right must pass the test of wise governance, including at the local government level - stated Jarosław Gowin on PR1's "Sygnały dnia". - These talks are ongoing [at the level of regional assemblies]. After the elections, we adopted a stance of resetting our relations with the opposition parties. The leaders of the PSL and the leaders, the national ones, of the SLD say: no cooperation with the United Right. - Regarding the judicial reform: I've long said that in my opinion, the current form of the reform is a provisional solution. I believe that in the next term, we should focus on developing new, final solutions, and I think that we should seek these final solutions through the broadest possible dialogue with legal circles and also with opposition parties - stated Jarosław Gowin on "Sygnały dnia" PR1.

- It's strange to me when politicians say, a priori, that we will not talk with a certain political formation. Such an attitude suggests that the program is unimportant, the well-being of the local community, in this case, a certain voivodeship, is unimportant, and only political premises, phobias, and dislikes play the main role - said Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Michał Rachoń on TVP1's „Kwadrans Polityczny” (Political Quarter Hour).

- The government is playing dumb. Meaning, it's conning people into believing it doesn't want immigrants, refugees. We had a very unpleasant ad recently, and on the other hand, it's quietly carrying out a population exchange in Poland. That is to say, it's raising the white flag when it comes to emigrants, young Poles, while quietly bringing people in from all over, essentially - stated Stanisław Tyszka in a conversation with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

“I would like to very sincerely thank the people who cast their votes for me. Despite the defeat, this is the best result achieved by a right-wing candidate in Warsaw since 2006. A very strong mandate. Although voters have placed me in opposition, they have simultaneously given a very strong mandate. The committee's full success will occur when three institutions cooperate: the verification committee, the Warsaw City Hall, and the courts. I had greatly hoped that the matters we initiated in the committee after winning at City Hall would be concluded, all appeals withdrawn, and many residents would breathe a sigh of relief. Unfortunately, democracy brought a different outcome, which we respect” – said Patryk Jaki at a press conference. 

Jaki also announced that for now, he will not resign from chairing the verification committee, but PiS will look for a new legal formula for the team. Its work is expected to continue until the end of the current Sejm term.

"There is a trend now to look for mistakes, that's fine. If I were to name one thing I would change about this campaign, I wouldn't focus so much on local issues, but on national ones. It turned out that the programs we prepared mattered less than national emotions. This is my reflection, and it was probably a mistake by our campaign team" - said Deputy Minister Patryk Jaki at a press conference.  

"The plane was destroyed by an explosion, and that was the direct cause of the death of the Polish president and everyone else who was flying to Smolensk at the time" - Antoni Macierewicz said in an interview with PR24. - "The time will come for a public account. It will be presented in accordance with all appropriate rules and norms. I will gladly hand it over then. We will not do it piecemeal, in subsequent, fragmented outlines. That is not prudent". Macierewicz also argued that the results of the work should be made public within a year.

The District Court in Krakow dismissed the application filed by Majchrowski under election law against PMM.

“As a legally empowered group of senators, meaning over 30 senators, we submitted a request to the Constitutional Tribunal two years ago to determine the incompatibility of the Prosecutor's Office Act with the constitution. This act violates many provisions. A week later, the Commissioner for Human Rights also submitted a request to the Constitutional Tribunal, and both requests were combined for a joint resolution. The then President of the Constitutional Tribunal ordered these two requests to be considered by a full panel of the chamber, taking into account the fundamental importance of this act as a systemic law concerning the principles of the rule of law and judicial independence. Without legal basis, after the change of president, an order was issued changing the full panel to a 5-person panel. This was done without justification and legal basis,” said Senator Piotr Zientarski from Civic Platform (PO) at a press conference in the Sejm.

“We are withdrawing our request, just like the Commissioner for Human Rights, as we have absolutely no confidence in the Tribunal’s future ruling in this situation,” he added.

Grzegorz Schetyna, the leader of Civic Platform (PO), has appealed to all democratic political groups in Poland to unite, stating that victory is “truly possible.” The statement was made on Twitter, accompanied by a link to a tweet from the @schetynadlapo account with the ID 1055774606550810625 and a reference to a Twitter post from October 25, 2018, at 12:00 PM.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stated that the victory in the elections is a collective achievement. He expressed gratitude to all who placed their trust in the party, as well as to the numerous supporters and volunteers. He also specifically acknowledged the "hard work of the PiS campaign team, which effectively ran this campaign."

The Pomeranian Voivodeship Board of Civic Platform has officially endorsed Paweł Adamowicz for the second round of the mayoral elections in Gdańsk. During the evening voting session, senators did not approve the appointment of Agnieszka Dudzińska as the Children's Ombudsman. Only one senator voted in favor, while 67 voted against, and 5 abstained.

- Today I have this satisfaction, I can say it. I won in Krakow. There will be an appeal, of course, it can go differently, because appeals can turn out differently. I already won once in the first instance in an election dispute, then it turned out differently on appeal. Nevertheless, I won this case on appeal in Krakow, so I can recall this circumstance. There I said that our predecessors, Civic Platform and the PSL, did not act appropriately in the area of smog. Let's stick to these delicate formulations. This was stated by the European Court of Justice – said Mateusz Morawiecki during a meeting with the residents of Ostrołęka.

The Senate has passed the bill concerning a day off on November 12, 2018, with amendments. In practice, this means the bill now returns to the Sejm, which must address the changes. The next session is scheduled for November 7-9, unless the Marshal of the Sejm convenes an additional one. The introduced amendments concern doctors, as well as the ban on trading on that day.

For this, however, you need a majority, meaning you either win the elections overwhelmingly or you have to create a coalition. I hope these coalitions will form, because only then will it be possible to elect authorities."
