According to the latest Kantar Millward Brown poll for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24, the incumbent Mayor of Łódź may count on victory in the first round.

Hanna Zdanowska enjoys 62 percent support. Her main rival from PiS, Waldemar Buda, is supported by 19% of residents.

The poll was conducted between October 13 and 15 on a representative sample of Łódź residents.

I didn't applaud President Kaczyński when he called us murderers. I didn't applaud Minister Kownacki when he said we had blood on our hands in the Sejm. And I consider Grzegorz Schetyna's comparison [of the PiS party to locusts] to be accurate, referring to the situation – stated Tomasz Siemoniak in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego." He added:

"I recalled here what the president and PiS politicians have said, how they behave, how they speak. So, I consider the campaign launched by PiS politicians regarding Grzegorz Schetyna's statement to be absurd. The PiS campaign manager, I won't quote him, as it's morning, spoke to a journalist."

The locust is actually mentioned 27 times in the Bible. Internet users counted. I believe it's a good rhetorical comparison – he continued. He added that people across the country are tired of PiS and see various "Misiewiczes" in their own communities.

- It's PiS and there are dozens of such examples, the aggressive language of hatred used by PiS politicians. Locusts are child's play compared to that - stated Tomasz Siemoniak in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Piasecki's Conversation".

- To all those who are outraged by Schetyna, let them remember what President Kaczyński said. Can you do anything worse than call opposition politicians murderers? He did it - he added. - There is absolutely no need to apologize here - stated the PO politician.

- I never thought I would miss the language and behavior of Prime Minister Beata Szydło. It seemed to me that it couldn't get any worse, but what Morawiecki is doing… I'm not even talking about those tapes, although they are catastrophic. The fact that he rejoices that someone broke their arm… - stated Tomasz Siemoniak in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego." He added:

"Yes, of course [Grzegorz Schetyna will be the prime ministerial candidate]. Schetyna spoke about this on Saturday in Poznań. He discussed it with Chairwoman Lubnauer and Nowacka. It's natural. We don't hide behind anyone. It's not like in PiS, where there's Jarosław Kaczyński and he keeps pulling new people out of a box. With us, there is the chairman, and he will be the prime ministerial candidate. The situation is clear."

- Next week there will be a Sejm session, and then that calendar will start running - Siemoniak stated.

- According to our statute, if someone is convicted by a final ruling, even for a matter like this, resulting in a fine, they should cease to be a member of Civic Platform. However, there is a whole procedure that requires such a decision to be legally binding, and I'm not sure if this procedure has concluded. I don't know what's on the [Civic Platform's] website; it needs to be corrected. Neither she nor we are dealing with this matter today. She is focused on her candidacy for the Mayor of Łódź and is talking with the residents – stated Tomasz Siemoniak in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego," when asked if Hanna Zdanowska is a member of Civic Platform.

- On Monday or Tuesday, we will address the clarification of various formal matters – he continued. – She shouldn't be a member, and she won't be. I don't know how long this procedure is taking – Siemoniak added. He admitted that Civic Platform is busy with the elections and campaigning across Poland, and the matter will be taken up after the elections. – We have more important issues than dealing with the nuances of the Civic Platform's statute right now – he emphasized.

Yes, absolutely [I am in Civic Platform]. Unlike Patryk Jaki, I am not ashamed of my party, which is currently fighting for the observance of the rule of law in Poland, and – it is evident – Patryk Jaki is very ashamed of his party – stated Rafał Trzaskowski in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News's "Polityczne Graffiti".

- I have a clear assessment of the entire privatization process. I have spoken about it many times. Now, instead of passing a privatization law and a law that will help all tenants, when PiS's campaign is going poorly, they try to orchestrate this type of manipulation [like the wPolityce publication], but it won't amount to anything - stated Rafał Trzaskowski in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News' "Polityczne Graffiti".

The wPolityce.pl portal wrote this morning that while Trzaskowski held the position of Minister of Administration and Digitization, his ministry facilitated the privatization of 55 properties. - This happened at a time when the privatization scandal was already known to the media and officials. Interestingly, in Trzaskowski's ministry, such a decision was issued for the property at Mokotowska 40 Street - one of the symbols of wild privatization - claim the authors.

- No, I do not endorse those words. They were simply words, actually a quote, because many times on the streets, including in Warsaw, Varsovians talk about how PiS has today infested offices with 'Misiewicze' like locusts. I understand that Grzegorz Schetyna was simply quoting that - stated Rafał Trzaskowski in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News' "Polityczne Graffiti."

"The local government elections will end with everyone declaring victory. Somewhere the PSL will win, somewhere PiS will win, somewhere Civic Platform will win. It is important that we learn to cooperate with each other somehow" - said Patryk Jaki, candidate of the United Right for the mayoralty of Warsaw, on TOK FM Radio's Morning Program.

- No, I am not in agreement with Andrzej Rozenek. However, we are certainly not attacking each other in this campaign, because the SLD and Civic Coalition are not enemies in this campaign. Quite the opposite. We are absolutely on the same path when it comes to the fight for Polish democracy and the observance of the rule of law – stated Rafał Trzaskowski in an interview with Piotr Witwicki in Polsat News' "Polityczne Graffiti".

“One could say that I am non-partisan. I am strongly convinced that after years of extremely partisan governance in Warsaw, I believe politicians should also learn to draw conclusions. Local government differs from parliament in that a city mayor should be objective, should look broadly, whereas people who group themselves in the Sejm and Senate are inherently subjective, more politicized. I would like us to be able to distinguish between the Sejm and local government” – said Deputy Minister Patryk Jaki during the Morning program on TOK FM Radio. 

- Today we will present the support committee. In an hour. These are people important to me and to Warsaw. We'll see at 9:00 AM - stated Rafał Trzaskowski in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News' "Polityczne Graffiti" (Political Graffiti).

“I don't want to apologize [for the IPN law]. It's not like there's one stupid Jaki and everyone else is smart. Both Civic Platform and Modern MPs voted for [the IPN law]. Trzaskowski also did not vote against it. Jaki, as you called him, might be a disaster and know nothing, but Trzaskowski, such a European manager, and what? He didn't know either?” - Patryk Jaki said in an interview with Jacek Żakowski on TOK FM. 

- Certainly [Grzegorz Schetyna should apologize for his remark about the PiS locusts]. He should certainly apologize, because I understand he didn't mean Márquez's book entitled Locusts - stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty in a conversation with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet. - I also don't know [what got into Schetyna]. He should apologize. It was impolite, it was ugly. I think he wouldn't want Kaczyński to say the same about him - added the head of the SLD.

"I absolutely believe that this issue [the taping scandal] requires clarification. This is not a resolved matter. We have even spoken about how this case is not a minor incident, but rather a clear economic-political connection, with words even spoken about the suspicion that foreign sources might have been involved in the inspiration. Of course, we can support this motion [to establish an investigative committee]" - stated Andrzej Halicki from Civic Platform (PO) in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

PiS, at the close of its campaign, much like in previous elections, is hitting its opponents with humor. 300POLITYKA is publishing the so-called motivational spot prepared by the ruling party, in which the main roles are played by PiS's opponents.

- The spot refers to the only melody we hear from the Civic Platform. Law and Justice is presenting its program and concrete proposals, while the opposition just keeps saying: PiS, PiS, PiS - one of the key campaign strategists tells us.

- Today is the day I wanted to present my support committee to you. I have been working for over 8 months, meeting with Warsaw residents on the streets of our city. We talk about Warsaw, about the program, and this program was created precisely through conversations with all those I managed to meet over these past 8 months. Today, I wanted to present to you the support committee, which consists of people with whom I discuss Warsaw, some of whom I have known my whole life, and some I have only met during the campaign. We talked about what the program for Warsaw should look like. It consists of people of different ages, different professions, with very different tenures as Warsaw residents. This is because it is precisely such people, who stand behind me, who create Warsaw, its unique atmosphere, energy, and the desire to realize the best aspirations that can be achieved in our capital - stated Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference.

- These are people I have known for years or for a few weeks or months, who represent all the colors of Warsaw. Warsaw for everyone, regardless of whether they were born in Warsaw or came here, regardless of age and political views. This is the kind of Warsaw we want to build, and my program grows precisely from conversations with Warsaw residents, and that's why I wanted to show who I spoke with, who influenced what we are planning for Warsaw - he added. - I've always said the same thing, for 8 months now, regardless of what the polls showed, although the trends are similar. They only and exclusively motivate us to work even harder. I've said that the fight for the votes of Warsaw residents will continue until the very end. That's why this week, which we are planning, is so intense. We'll have a convention on Thursday, and then we'll be working 24 hours a day. Even if the polls are better, as they indeed show increasingly positive trends, they still only motivate us to work - stated Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference. He added that nothing is decided yet and the election race will continue until the very end.

Rafał Trzaskowski, the Mayor of Warsaw, reaffirmed his commitment to signing the local LGBT charter. This pledge was made during a Twitter exchange, where he addressed concerns and reiterated his intention to support the charter.

The fine issue is not a major offense, but the statutory provisions are so restrictive that this might be the opinion. I am not pre-judging this. The decision and announcement will be on Monday evening" - said the PO chairman, Grzegorz Schetyna, whose statement is cited by Polsat News.

"It seems we have found a very good formula, which we will continue to work on in the coming months to further improve it for the benefit of local solutions. A certain portion of the copper tax revenue will be able to be allocated for purposes related to the activities of local government units. It will be deducted from the tax, thus bringing clear benefits to all residents, and importantly, this money will remain within the local community. This is also a promotion of a good model of cooperation between the state and local government. We want to achieve this cooperation as effectively as possible. We care about ensuring that the development of the Polish economy serves all citizens. We are at a point in our historical development where we are striving to share the fruits of this growth as fairly and broadly as possible," said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

"I wanted to express my joy. It took a long time, many years, over 10, but it is finally starting. I know there are reservations, they have even been voiced by some media outlets, but we have every right to do this. One could say that it has been achieved, because once construction begins, then it will be possible to say that the die is cast, that this canal will be built, and that the problem that Elbląg has been living with for many decades will be solved. Elbląg should be a complementary port to the ports of Gdynia and Gdańsk. This will certainly contribute to its economic development and the development of the entire region. This is the main goal" - said the PiS leader, Jarosław Kaczyński, in Kąty Rybackie.

"There will be a victory in the second round" - this is how the Marshal of the Senate, Stanisław Karczewski, responded to Justyna Dobrosz-Oracz's question about the results of today's poll for "Gazeta Wyborcza", according to which Rafał Trzaskowski has an advantage in Warsaw in both the first and second rounds.

Very important information for the residents of Warsaw. Today is the last day to register to vote. I wanted to very warmly appeal to all Varsovians who haven't done so yet, that this is the last moment to fight with us for an honest Warsaw. Dear Varsovians, we cannot reward what the Civic Platform has done in Warsaw over the last 12 years. This consent to the divestment of gigantic assets, which the verification commission has valued at even 21 billion PLN. We cannot allow this. Now or never. This is the last day. If you have lived in Warsaw for years and haven't fulfilled this obligation, this is the last moment to do so. I wanted to very warmly appeal to fulfill this obligation today – stated Patryk Jaki at the conference. This Sunday we will decide if Warsaw will truly transform into an honest city. For the 100th anniversary of regaining independence, finally an honest capital. This is the real stake of these elections. Either Rafał Trzaskowski and the continuation of Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz’s policy, or a good change and an honest Warsaw – added the United Right candidate.

- I am fully aware that there is one favorite, and that is Rafał Trzaskowski. Everyone can read the election results from the National Election Commission. I see how huge an advantage the Civic Platform has, and always has had, in Warsaw. However, that also doesn't mean I won't fight – stated Patryk Jaki at a press conference.

Today, we know that these are people who, during the Civic Platform's rule, hand in hand with liberals, implemented the most harmful reforms, detrimental from the perspective of citizens, Poles. Namely, the reform raising the retirement age and the OFE reform. These are facts today, I think the PSL will not be able to deny this in any way. Today, the residents of rural Poland also understand this message. It was precisely the PSL, hand in hand with Civic Platform and liberals, that introduced these very bad reforms, which also impacted the residents of rural Poland - stated Tomasz Poręba at a press conference, referring to a recording published today by the TVP Info portal. - It was precisely Kosiniak-Kamysz, the leader of the PSL, who, hand in hand with Civic Platform, implemented a bad reform, impacting Poles, with particular emphasis on the residents of rural Poland - he added.

The government is supporting Iwona Mularczyk. A headquarters for a Territorial Defense Force (WOT) battalion is set to be established in Nowy Sącz.

The announcement of this development, which is expected to significantly bolster the region's defense capabilities, was made with the backing of Iwona Mularczyk, a prominent political figure in the area.

“There is no more important sector than the agri-food industry. Not only from the traditional point of view of food, people, and society, but also economically, in terms of exports, as an engine of growth. Polish products are sold all over the world, so they are competitive. I am glad that there is an increasing need in agriculture for people who have interdisciplinary knowledge at the intersection of agriculture, mechanics, various legal fields, knowledge of European procedures, but above all, are modern” – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

- It has come to light that the candidate for Mayor of Szczecin, Mr. Bartłomiej Sochański from PiS, is a co-owner of a company involved in importing Russian coal into Poland. As Minister Błaszczak stated, it is coal subsidized by Putin. How does this align with the declarations of this government, which on one hand considers Russian coal to be evil, yet on the other hand includes Mr. Sochański on its candidate lists, a person actively participating in this process? – stated Cezary Tomczyk during a press conference in the Sejm.

- This is a betrayal of Silesia by the PiS government, and we categorically demand that Mr. Bartłomiej Sochański cease to be the candidate for Mayor of Szczecin, and that the PiS committee withdraw its support for him – Tomczyk continued.

- The second motion we are submitting is a request for information from the government regarding the precipitous increase in Russian coal imports to Poland, taking into account all interests involving PiS activists. This matter needs to be clarified once and for all – added the Civic Platform (PO) MP.

- This will never happen. I would never do that to Minister Ziobro, who means a great deal to me, who has helped me greatly in my life, which is why this will never happen – said Patryk Jaki in an interview with Marcin Fijołek for wPolsce.pl.

Polish companies are becoming increasingly international, exporting and investing more in foreign markets. Meanwhile, Polish banks are not keeping pace with them adequately with their services and products, and this needs to change - said the President of Bank Pekao S.A., Michał Krupiński, during the IV Corporate Banking Congress. - Over the last 10 years, there has been significant internationalization of Polish companies. We have become a strongly international economy, we have increased our share in world trade, which brings new opportunities and challenges. Clients expect us to have a presence in various locations, including outside Europe. Strong growth of some Polish companies, often double-digit, means that bank clients are heavily penetrating various markets in search of acquisition targets. We want to help them with this - declared Michał Krupiński. He pointed out that from the perspective of international presence, Polish banks are lagging behind Polish entrepreneurs. Clients expect stronger support from banks in their activities in foreign markets. - We are facing a situation where Polish exporters sell their products to dozens of countries worldwide, and Polish banks still do not fully meet their needs - he assessed. He added that such international banking activities must have an appropriate scale to be noticed and appreciated by shareholders and analysts. - To seriously invest capital outside the home market, it must be done on a significant scale. From my experience, one needs to generate about 20-25% of profits abroad for it to be noticeable from the perspective of shareholders and analysts - emphasized Michał Krupiński. The President of Pekao noted that the model of expansion in retail banking is changing, and for international presence, it is not necessarily required to have physical banking assets there or to buy a bank.

"The legal status of the facility [Skra], which is in a terrible condition, has been regulated. This opens up possibilities for the city to restore this facility to its former glory, to truly make it a gem, especially since Warsaw does not have any athletics stadium. In addition, it should be added that this stadium, which was originally conceived to accommodate 30,000 spectators, should not be relegated to the role of a second-category facility, but should be rebuilt in a version that allows for the organization of various international events. Skra is a club that not only has outstanding athletes like Anita Włodarczyk, who win top accolades, but most importantly, it has a rugby team and focuses on youth sports" - said Jacek Wojciechowicz at the Warsaw Skra grounds.

"I want to ensure the city becomes more involved in financing sports in Warsaw. I will strive to include municipal companies in this effort" - he added.

- This is what democracy is really like. If elections boil down to people being told different things, and then those promises not being kept, then what are elections? Simply a meaningless procedure, a ceremony from which nothing results. “I think that next week the motion [for a vote of no confidence in the government] should be submitted. It is to be a coalition motion, we are collecting signatures of MPs, we are collecting arguments concerning the summary of Mateusz Morawiecki’s work. He is wearing out much faster than Prime Minister Szydło” – said Civic Platform spokesperson, Jan Grabiec, in an interview with Karolina Lewicka on TOK FM’s “Political Interview”.

This is, however, a completely different kind of expression, an Aesopian one, not to say biblical. References to the symbolism of locusts often appear there. It is difficult to find a better form of description [than a plague] for what is happening to state institutions under the influence of PiS appointees. These institutions are beginning to collapse,” spokesman Jan Grabiec said in an interview with Karolina Lewicka on TOK FM.

“One can say that someone is loyal as a dog, and that is a positive description. And one can say that someone is mad as a dog. In this description of locusts, it is about analogy, about a structure that acts destructively on state institutions. Grzegorz Schetyna did not mean anything pejorative, apart from this analogy. It is apt. I often hear, on Saturday I spent a lot of time at the city market, handing out flyers, and I hear from people: 'you speak too intellectually, you're right, but it doesn't break through, it's not forceful.'
