Monday's Political Schedule: Czech PM's Visit, President Duda in the Vatican, Civic Coalition, Trzaskowski, and SLD Conferences

The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babiš, will be visiting Warsaw. His meeting with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is scheduled to begin at 11:10 AM. At 11:45 AM, both heads of government will hold a press conference. President Andrzej Duda, accompanied by the First Lady, is on a visit to the Vatican and Italy. An audience with Pope Francis is planned for 10:00 AM.

Civic Coalition leaders, Grzegorz Schetyna and Katarzyna Lubnauer, will visit Jawor (at 10:00 AM), Świdnica (at 11:00 AM), Wałbrzych (at 11:45 AM), Jelenia Góra (at 1:15 PM), and Opole (at 4:30 PM). At 10:15 AM, Sławomir Neumann and the Civic Coalition candidate for mayor, Marek Konkolewski, have scheduled their briefing in Starogard Gdański.

Another "Convoy of Shame" will depart across Poland today. Press conferences by Civic Platform politicians will take place in Sanok (at 10:00 AM), Gdańsk (at 2:00 PM), Elbląg (at 11:00 AM), and Ostróda (at 2:00 PM).

At 10:00 AM, Rafał Trzaskowski, the Civic Coalition candidate for Mayor of Warsaw, has announced his press conference. Meanwhile, Patryk Jaki has traveled to Madrid, where he will meet, among others, with the Mayor of Madrid who, as the candidate wrote on Twitter, built approximately 50 km of metro in one term. "This is almost as much as the Civic Platform in Warsaw, which built over 9 km in 3 terms," he added. Jaki will also have meetings regarding Smart City and with the Polish Ambassador to Spain.

At 9:30 AM, a press conference of Patryk Jaki's election staff will be held at Jaki Cafe. At 10:30 AM, a press conference by the SLD Lewica Razem coalition regarding the use of EU funds will take place in the Sejm. Bogusław Liberadzki and spokesperson Anna-Maria Żukowska will speak.

Kwaśniewski:

SLD's Return to the Mainstream Would Greatly Benefit Our Democracy

- Of course, I had [other options]. I could have done nothing, but I believe that the return of SLD to the political mainstream would greatly benefit our democracy. I never wrote them off; this party still has its voters. It has, I think, new momentum, new leaders. I traveled around the country a bit, and I saw that it's not just an empty shell, because I saw real people, and a lot of them at these meetings. They don't come because of the state budget, [but] because they want to be at these meetings. I came to believe in SLD. We will judge genius by its results – stated Aleksander Kwaśniewski in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego."

07:51

Kwaśniewski:

Czarzasty did a great job. He toured almost all districts and consolidated this party
I have memory, I remember everything, but I am not vindictive. Situations change. Today, the discussion about leaders in general, because I know such a discussion is also taking place in Civic Platform and the Democratic Left Alliance, makes no sense. We are in a whole election cycle that will last 20 months. Even if someone doesn't like them, they should follow another principle: if you don't have what you like, like what you have. I believe Czarzasty did a great job. He toured almost all districts and consolidated this party - stated Aleksander Kwaśniewski in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

07:57

Dworczyk:

Terms like 'locusts,' 'flies' – language that Nazi newspaper 'Der Stürmer' or Soviet 'Komsomolskaya Pravda' wouldn't shy away from
“PO has a long and ignominious history when it comes to using such language, starting from 'finishing off the pack,' through scandalous events and words spoken after the Smolensk tragedy in 2010, 'mohers,' 'lunatics' – these are just the mildest terms. Now we hear astonishing words. These terms like 'locusts,' 'flies' – language that Nazi newspaper 'Der Stürmer' or Soviet 'Komsomolskaya Pravda' wouldn't shy away from. Looking back at history, parties like the NSDAP in totalitarian systems used such language to dehumanize political opponents and then carry out purges,” said Minister Michał Dworczyk in “Sygnały Dniach” on Program I of Polish Radio.

07:58

Kwaśniewski:

I don't want to be Moses. I did it once, and I think that's enough.

- I really don't want to be Moses. I did it once, at the beginning of the 90s, and I think that's enough. In my opinion, these local government elections will certainly give us answers to many questions. Whether building broader coalitions, let's look at KO for example, whether building broader coalitions gives synergy, more votes, or not necessarily. Because that's essentially the key - stated Aleksander Kwaśniewski in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- Maybe [the electoral system favors merging], but does the voter understand it, because it's about the voter. It can be different. When it comes to parties as different as Platforma and SLD, there can be trouble. SLD has also programmatically shifted much more to the left; its program is much more coherent from the perspective of left-wing slogans. Platforma, however, is a liberal party with a significant conservative wing. I will watch with curiosity how much Basia Nowacka manages to convince Platforma to adopt center-left [ideas] - added the former president.

- I wouldn't rule out that path [SLD towards Civic Coalition], I would just do it absolutely after October 21st - he said.

08:05

Kwaśniewski:

In the first round I will vote for Rozenek, in the second for Trzaskowski

- No, he doesn't [have a chance, Andrzej Rozenek]. He is a great person, I know him, I value him and I consider him a prepared candidate. Andrzej Rozenek is, as a person, prepared for it, however, the logic of elections is always such that in the first round you always vote according to your ideological view, and for the person who - in our opinion - will better fulfill this function. To the question of how I will do it, in the first round I vote according to my ideological choice for the SLD candidate, which is Andrzej Rozenek. In the second round, I will vote for Trzaskowski - stated Aleksander Kwaśniewski in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

Dworczyk on the Constructive Vote of No Confidence Motion: No Substantive Basis, No Chance of Positive Sejm Treatment

"There is no surprise, at most a smile of pity. This motion has no substantive basis and no chance of being treated positively by the Sejm. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is the person most brutally attacked in this campaign," said Minister Michał Dworczyk on Jedynka radio.

08:13

Dworczyk:

It's Obvious to Me These Attacks Aren't Random; Environments That Lost Huge Incomes Are Trying to Discredit the Polish Government

"It is absolutely obvious to me that these attacks are not random, that certainly the environments that have lost gigantic incomes are today doing a lot to discredit Poland, the Polish government, and Prime Minister Morawiecki, without whom the tax system's sealing would not have happened," said Minister Michał Dworczyk in a program on Polish Radio I.

08:18

Czarnecki:

Morawiecki and Ziobro Cooperate Excellently in Government

- Prime Minister Morawiecki has great respect for the Minister of Justice. They cooperate excellently in the government, while [Morawiecki] was never my protégé; we cooperated in the past. When I was the Minister for European Affairs, I invited Morawiecki, who was an excellent deputy director of the accession negotiations department. I invited him. I highly valued his substantive approach to matters of negotiations with the EU and I highly rate his work then in the government - stated Ryszard Czarnecki in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

- I haven't heard anyone in PiS say that [that Zbigniew Ziobro is behind the leaks of the tapes]. I believe this is a smear just before the elections, to show that we have some internal power struggles. There are no such struggles, I assure you. Rivalry, of course, rivalry is normal in any party, but not in the government - added the PiS MEP.

08:23

Czarnecki on Arranging a Job for His Son: "There's a Difference Between an Internship and a Job. He Explained It Himself. It Was an Internship Where He Earned a Little Over One Thousand One Hundred Zlotys. It Was Terminated at His Initiative."
- That's not true, you're probably not well-prepared [that Mateusz Morawiecki was involved in arranging a job for Czarnecki's son]. And are you on an internship at Radio Zet? I think you can see the difference between an internship and a job. An internship, not a job. He himself explained it. It was an internship where he earned a little over one thousand one hundred zlotys. It was terminated at his initiative - stated Ryszard Czarnecki in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet. - At that time, Mateusz Morawiecki was not the Prime Minister but the president of a bank. I emphasize again: not a job, not, as Civic Platform calls it, a position, but an internship - added the PiS MEP.

08:26

Czarnecki on motion regarding Morawiecki: KO could just as effectively propose Czarnecki be made Emperor of China
The Prime Minister did not lie, and the Civic Coalition could just as effectively propose that Ryszard Czarnecki be made Emperor of China. The court did not order our Prime Minister to apologize, but it seems this road issue really hurt Civic Platform. It was a precise blow, because indeed, these roads were being built very slowly and for exorbitant amounts of money. This investor from China, who vanished like the investor from Qatar - stated Ryszard Czarnecki in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

08:29

Czarnecki:

PO Will Lose Local Elections Because People Expect Positive Proposals, and We Have Them

- [Civic Platform] will also lose these local elections because people expect positive proposals, and we have them – Morawiecki's 'Five'. We kept our word in government, and we will keep it in local government – stated Ryszard Czarnecki in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

08:33

Czarnecki:

Proportions in Voivodeship Assemblies Will Definitely Be Different Than Currently. We Humbly Await the Voters' Verdict

- Today it's like this: Platforma Obywatelska and PSL have 15 [voivodeship assemblies], and PiS has one. These proportions will definitely be different than currently. We humbly await the voters' verdict. We have worked hard for three years and we believe that the effect of this hard work + humility and a certain restraint, meaning three P's, will be really good - stated Ryszard Czarnecki in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

PiS Renominates Agnieszka Dudzińska for Children's Ombudsman

As 300POLITYKA has learned, the Law and Justice (PiS) parliamentary club has again nominated Agnieszka Dudzińska for the position of Children's Ombudsman. This information was confirmed to us by Beata Mazurek. Dudzińska was previously a PiS candidate, but the Sejm did not elect her to this position. The Deputy Marshal of the Sejm spoke last week on Radio Plus about the possibility of the ruling party re-nominating the same candidate. The deadline for submitting candidacies expired on Friday.

Schetyna at S3 Opening: As Civic Coalition, We Did Much in the Campaign to Speak of the Modern Poland We Dream Of and Are Building
We are entering the final week of the campaign, the last few days. We are in a special place, not only for Lower Silesia but for the entire country, as we are about to open the S3 highway. Behind us is also a new factory being built in a special economic zone, a Mercedes factory. These are two symbols of the modern Poland we dream of and are building. As the Civic Coalition, we have done a lot in this campaign to talk about this. This is not just a matter of the last 8 years of government, but above all of 12 years of good local government coalitions between Civic Platform and the Polish People's Party, thanks to which we could show how well cooperation between different levels of local government and central administration can look, and how important it is for the provincial government to open up regions equally to new investments and create new jobs” - said the PO leader, Grzegorz Schetyna, during the opening of the S3.

This is not the end. 12 years of good governance in Lower Silesia, 12 years of good governance in Poland's local government is just a stage. We want to win these elections as the Civic Coalition. We want to continue modernizing our country for the next 5 years, as we have managed to do in Lower Silesia” - he added.

11:03

Trzaskowski:

If I Become President, I Will Launch a Major Campaign to Encourage Warsaw Residents to Pay Taxes Here

- Today we wanted to say a few words about taxes. This is because over one-third of all city budget revenue comes from personal income tax (PIT). In 2017, this amounted to over PLN 5 billion. I want to announce that if I become president [of Warsaw], I will launch the largest campaign to encourage Warsaw residents to pay their taxes right here, in Warsaw. This includes both those who have not paid taxes so far and those who appear in Warsaw, because Warsaw attracts the best talent from all over Poland, and even from some corners of the world. We are very keen to increase the number of people paying taxes in Warsaw. In the last year, we managed to attract as many as 75,000 new taxpayers. I hope we will double this number annually. This will mean additional funds in the budget for investments in Warsaw. We want to create a whole system of incentives, for example, regarding cheaper access to public transport, cultural goods, sports, and recreation. Also, some of the proposals I am making, such as additional activities for Warsaw residents, children, should naturally be linked to the issue of paying taxes. Public transport for children and high school students, which will be free, will obviously not apply to those who pay taxes, those children whose parents pay taxes, because here everyone should have access to free public transport. This will be the largest system in Warsaw that will encourage paying taxes, because it is a fair attitude for everyone who lives in Warsaw - stated Rafał Trzaskowski at a briefing.

11:04

Trzaskowski:

My Opponent Admits to Living in Warsaw for 10 Years and Only Deciding to Pay Taxes Here Recently. This is Not an Honest Stance.

- My opponent admits to having lived in Warsaw for 10 years and only deciding to pay taxes here for the last few months. This is not an honest stance. This is because everyone who wants to benefit from everything Warsaw has to offer, from all these services, should take on a part of the responsibility. I have taken on this responsibility from the beginning, and I hope we will be able to convince the vast majority of people who live in Warsaw and are connected to Warsaw to do the same - stated Rafał Trzaskowski at a briefing.

11:13

Trzaskowski:

I'm surprised Jaki spent the final days of his campaign on a trip to Madrid instead of talking to Warsaw residents

- I am surprised that in these last few days of the campaign, Patryk Jaki, instead of spending time on the streets of Warsaw and talking with Warsaw residents, went on a trip to Madrid. Let's wait and see what he brings back from Madrid. I am eagerly awaiting a press conference and will certainly respond to it immediately, especially since I know most of the politicians in Madrid who dealt with investments. Let's wait and see what Patryk Jaki tells us, because I am very curious how he will justify his trip. It's clear he likes to travel; he was in Sofia, now he's in Madrid. I'm curious what he intends to convey to us from Madrid. Then I will respond to it immediately - stated Rafał Trzaskowski at a briefing.

- A very intensive campaign. This week I will be meeting with women and men of Warsaw. Today I have an open meeting in Służewiec. On Thursday there will be a convention, and until Thursday we will also be working on the streets of Warsaw, of course. Then, 24 hours for Warsaw, we will be visiting places that are important to the women and men of Warsaw non-stop until the election silence - he continued, when asked about his plans for the last week of the campaign.

11:20

Trzaskowski:

Jaki Constantly Changes His Mind

- This is all for show. Patryk Jaki constantly changes his mind on issues as important as vaccines, in vitro fertilization, and the matter of Warsaw's investments. He is constantly trying to pretend to be someone he is not. It's also interesting that he has recently been appearing against the backdrop of the European flag and that he travels to countries that benefit from their EU membership precisely because they have fantastic relations with the EU. And what does Jaki do? For all these recent years, he has worked to make these relations with the EU as bad as possible - stated Rafał Trzaskowski at a briefing.

Francis Receives the Presidential Couple for an Audience

As reported by the Chancellery of the President, earlier today Pope Francis received the Polish Presidential Couple for an official audience. Tomorrow marks the 40th anniversary of Cardinal Karol Wojtyła's election to the papacy.

President Duda: The Holy Father spoke with great approval about the support for families being implemented by Polish authorities
I have just had an audience with the Holy Father. As always, a very moving conversation with the Holy Father, a conversation that was above all extremely pleasant. The Holy Father asked about Poland and asked me to send his regards to all my compatriots, Poles. I thanked him for the greetings he sent us when he flew to the Baltic states on his pilgrimage. He recalled World Youth Day, his presence at Jasna Góra and in Krakow, the youth, and the extraordinary atmosphere in Poland – stated President Andrzej Duda during a conversation with journalists in the Vatican. - I thanked the Holy Father that both the Prime Minister and I were received this year in the Vatican, which is quite an exceptional matter, for two state representatives to be received by the Holy Father in one year – PAD added. – A very cordial atmosphere. We spoke, of course, about Poland, about the situation in Poland. The Holy Father spoke with great approval about the support for families that is currently being implemented by the Polish authorities, of course about the 500+ program, but also about all these other forms of support. He said that this is so incredibly important – stated the president. The future of Europe was also a topic of conversation.

Madryt's Model: 50 km of Metro in One Term, Warsaw's 9 km in Three. Don't Say It Can't Be Done in Warsaw.

"Here [in Madrid] 50 km of metro in one term, and in Warsaw 9 kilometers of metro in 3 terms. Above all, we see that it is possible, that it really can be done. Not only has Madrid, thanks to how the mayor developed public transport, especially the metro, during his terms, but also a large part of these lines were among the cheapest in Europe. It can be done quickly, it can be done cheaply. Don't say it can't be done in Warsaw. If you have built 9 kilometers of metro in Warsaw over 3 terms, then look at the mayor [of Madrid] who opened 50 kilometers of metro in one term. We exchanged experiences. It was a very good meeting" - said Patryk Jaki, the Civic Platform candidate for the mayor of Warsaw, at a press conference in Madrid.

PiS Files Criminal Complaint Against Former Deputy Finance Minister Andrzej Parafianowicz. Mazurek: He's the Face of Incompetence and Inefficiency in the Fight Against Tax Mafia
“We are filing a criminal complaint with the prosecutor’s office regarding the potential commission of a crime colloquially known as an official’s offense, committed by Andrzej Parafianowicz. From November 2007 to December 2013, he served as Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Finance. He was the head of the tax administration, the General Inspector of Financial Information. For 6 years, Parafianowicz was responsible for the fiscal apparatus, for counteracting financial abuses, and for the fight against tax mafia. In our assessment, Parafianowicz is the main face of incompetence and inefficiency in the fight against tax mafia,” said the spokesperson for PiS, Deputy Marshal Beata Mazurek, at a press conference. “During the time he was deputy minister, until 2013, practically nothing was done in terms of legislation to seal the system. In terms of administration and subordinate services, no actions were taken until 2011 either, and the years 2011-2013 saw delayed, incomplete, and largely feigned actions,” added Marcin Horała, head of the parliamentary inquiry committee on VAT fraud and PiS’s candidate for the mayor of Gdynia.

12:34

Mazurek on Presidential Polls in Largest Cities: 'Elections Aren't Won by Polls, But by Convincing Poles'

Elections aren't won by polls, but by convincing Poles. Our rallies are attended by thousands of Poles, and let's wait for the outcome of their decision on October 21st” – commented the spokesperson for PiS, Beata Mazurek, at a press conference regarding the polls published today by „Gazeta Wyborcza”.

V4 United: Poland and Czechia Stand Firm on Border Protection and Sovereign Migration Decisions, Rejecting Forced Quotas

- We had the opportunity to exchange information on the most important topics and points on our agenda for the European Council. I am particularly pleased that our positions are very consistent. During the European Council, the topic of refugees and migration will be discussed, and here, the Czech Republic and Poland hold an unambiguous stance that our border protection and our sovereign decisions are paramount in this context, and there is no possibility that we will be forced to accept migrants. We shared information on how to defend our positions, but I especially want to emphasize that it was our consistent approach and that of the entire Visegrad Group that led to the adoption of conclusions at the European Council in June, which are, from our point of view, beneficial, appropriate, and what we advocated for from the very beginning, stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki after meeting with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic.

- We defended our position and will certainly strive to simply, based on the conclusions already adopted, develop appropriate procedures acceptable from our point of view. We will certainly not deviate from such a position - added the Polish Prime Minister.

12:53

PMM:

We Will Fight for and Secure the Right EU Budget for Poland and Central Europe
We also briefly discussed the topic of the European budget, the EU, and cohesion policy. Here too, I can emphasize that we are of virtually the same opinion regarding which positions in this budget should be defended, and the quality of this budget is crucial. The pace of its adoption is important, but secondary to its quality. Here, our interests must be taken into account first and foremost, and our position in Brussels remains unchanged. Both the common agricultural policy, funds for agriculture, for the development of roads, railways, and all structural funds must be maintained in the interest of countries catching up with Western Europe. We in Central Europe want to finally catch up with the living standards of Western Europe. That is what structural funds are for. No one is doing anyone a great favor here; rather, Western European countries also derive significant benefits from the entire European integration – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki after a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic. We will certainly fight and secure the right budget for Poland and the countries of Central Europe – PMM added.

13:01

Schetyna:

Furgo Withdrew the Poster and Apologized. I Read it on Twitter

- He withdrew the poster and apologized. I read it on Twitter – stated Grzegorz Schetyna, when asked about the entry by MP Furgo. He added that it is a 1:1 copy of a poster that also appeared in an ONR march a few months ago, and this is the language that should not be used in political debate.

14:42

Szefernaker:

The PiS Government is a Government Friendly to Local Authorities

Lately, during the local government election campaign, various pieces of information have emerged concerning the government's cooperation with local authorities. I believe it's important to say 'no' at a political level, in the context of temporary political disputes, but it's also worthwhile to present facts indicating that much of the information appearing today has little in common with reality. The majority of local authorities are not governed by PiS. Consequently, local authorities are very often used for temporary political disputes” – said Deputy Minister Paweł Szefernaker at a press conference.

Nothing has changed recently in our cooperation with local authorities. Over 95% of the legal acts adopted during the work of the Joint Commission of the Government and Local Authorities are acts that pass with the support of the local government side. The government daily presents a range of many government programs that involve cooperation with local authorities. Very often, the funds allocated to local authorities, if they were for additional tasks commissioned to local governments, differ from what was often the case under our predecessors, as funds accompanying these programs are provided for their administration. The best example is the 500+ program. The government recognizes the problems of local authorities. The PiS government is a government friendly to local authorities” – he added.

15:15

PiS Launches New Billboard Campaign: "They Despise, We Help!"

"Enough of these attacks, this incitement, insults, intimidation, and threats against various professional groups. At the Civic Platform convention, Mr. Grzegorz Schetyna called Poles 'locusts.' This is a symbolic example of what has been happening since the beginning of this campaign. It's not just one sentence. Mr. Schetyna also stated that the President of the Republic of Poland is not worthy of respect. Earlier, he attacked the independence of the judiciary, threatening judges who issued rulings unfavorable to his formation, saying their names would be remembered. At another time, he threatened journalists, saying they would be held accountable for their current actions. He also threatened MPs who have a free mandate," said Łukasz Schreiber from PiS at a press conference in front of the Civic Platform headquarters.

"They started by putting up nasty billboards. Now they are launching another campaign initiative. And we ask the question: what does this have to do with the local government elections? What does it have to do with the decision awaiting Poles on October 21st? We will be highlighting this contempt that spills from the mouths of Platform leaders. We will be saying that they despise, while we try to work and help," he added.

16:54

Manowska:

I Don't Want to Replace Gersdorf

I don't want [to replace President Gersdorf] – stated Małgorzata Manowska in an interview with Justyna Dobrosz-Oracz for Wyborcza.pl. When asked about circulating rumors regarding taking the position of First President of the Supreme Court, she replied: – Do you know how many rumors there are in this world? A lot.

19:13

Kaczyński:

For Us, Europeanness Isn't a Slogan Opposed to Polishness. It's Merely a Drive to Close the Historical Gap That Has Persisted Throughout Our History.

We aim to catch up with the West. Regarding GDP per capita, standard of living, and the functioning of social institutions. For us, Europeanness isn't a slogan that is opposed to Polishness. It is merely a drive to close the historical gap that has persisted throughout our entire history. We have such a chance today” – stated the Law and Justice party leader, Jarosław Kaczyński, in Otwock.

19:27

Kaczyński:

Local Government is State Authority, and Government Authority is State Authority. These Authorities Often Do Not Cooperate

In Poland, local government authority is also state authority. There are states and theories that say local government is not the state, but a social organization. In Poland, a different solution has been adopted. Local government is state authority, and government authority is state authority. These authorities often do not cooperate with each other. Does the regional government of Mazovia cooperate with central authorities, despite its successes, despite this government showing a lot of goodwill? It is very difficult to achieve any real cooperation. When it comes to cooperation with local governments of options other than the one that is dominant there, it is also very, very difficult. This is a nationwide phenomenon. If we were to radically limit it, we could achieve a great deal. The possibility of cooperation, of overcoming administrative barriers, is a great strength, a great acceleration of various kinds of actions” - said Law and Justice party leader Jarosław Kaczyński in Otwock.

19:34

Jakubiak:

I Started Too Late, But We Are Legalists

- I want to say that I have regrets. Today, with my experience, I realize that I should have started even a year earlier. I started too late, but we are legalists, as the law requires us to be - stated Marek Jakubiak in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News.

19:36

Jakubiak:

It's Clearly Visible That Warsaw Residents Are Voting Not So Much Against Jaki, But Against PiS
- Patryk Jaki is a hard-working, young fellow. Of course. However, it's clearly visible that Warsaw residents are voting not so much against Patryk Jaki, but against PiS. I remind you that I am not from PiS. You can also vote for me freely - stated Marek Jakubiak in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News.

20:04

Bielan:

There is No New Tape

- There is no new tape. These are fragments [concerning Robert Kubica] from the same tape that has been known to journalists and a very large part of the public for several years, as information about this tape was published in 2015. It has been a fact since then - stated Adam Bielan in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24's "Kropka nad i".

20:11

Bielan:

PM Met with Kubica Today and Clarified the Matter

- Let's clarify for the viewers. Prime Minister Morawiecki was the head of BZ WBK bank, which was owned by a Spanish financial group, and the Spaniards proposed that the Polish bank pay PLN 50 million for Formula 1. This was a method, I would say, of tax optimization, meaning the extraction, draining of subsidiaries so as not to pay tax. The president was strongly against it because it weakened the Polish bank, the subsidiary - stated Adam Bielan in an interview with Monika Olejnik on "Kropka nad i" TVN24. - Speaking of this thread, Prime Minister Morawiecki met with Robert Kubica today and they clarified the matter - added the Deputy Marshal of the Senate.

20:14

Bielan:

Morawiecki Opposed the Draining of a Polish Bank by its Spanish Parent Company

- Mateusz Morawiecki opposed the draining of a Polish bank by its parent company from Spain and, in this matter, was generally right. However, these words should not have been spoken, of course - stated Adam Bielan in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24's "Kropka nad i".

Lessons from Madrid: Warsaw Can Build Faster and Cheaper. Warsaw Has Simply Lost 12 Years in Metro Development

"Not only is Bulgaria building its metro 3 times faster than Warsaw, but if we look to the West, it also turns out that the situation for Warsaw is dramatic. In Madrid, many metro sections were built cheaper than in Warsaw. This is another reason why it's worth paying attention, as I am convinced that metro construction in Warsaw can be done faster and cheaper. Warsaw has simply lost these 12 years in terms of metro development," said Deputy Minister Patryk Jaki at a press conference.

"If I become the President of Warsaw, I will immediately commence the construction of the III and IV metro lines and I will do it at the pace we have seen in Spain. If it's possible in Spain, and it's possible in Bulgaria, then it's also possible in Warsaw," he added.

Bielan on Constructive No-Confidence Vote: Poland Will See a Clear Choice Between Morawiecki and Schetyna
I am pleased with this motion, which will be submitted – as I understand it – to Marshal Kuchciński for a constructive no-confidence vote, because Poland will see what a clear choice it has between Mateusz Morawiecki and Grzegorz Schetyna – stated Adam Bielan in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24's "Kropka nad i". – I am glad that Poles will have a clear choice. Morawiecki or Schetyna – he added.

PICTURE OF THE DAY: Gowin on Fakty: The Battle for Regional Assemblies is Decisive, News Services on Pope's Words about 500+, News: PiS's Billboard Campaign Shows the Ideological Void of the Total Opposition

-- LIVEBLOG 300POLITYKA:

Bielan: PMM opposed the draining of the Polish bank by its Spanish parent company.

Bielan: PMM met with Kubica today and they clarified the matter.

Bielan: There are no new tapes.

Jakubiak: It is clearly visible that Warsaw residents are voting not so much against Jaki, but against PiS.

Kaczyński: Self-government is state authority, and government authority is state authority. These authorities often do not cooperate with each other.

Kaczyński: For us, Europeanism is not a slogan opposed to Polishness. It is simply an aspiration to eliminate the historical gap that has persisted throughout our history.

Manowska: I do not want to replace Gersdorf.

PiS is launching a new billboard campaign: "They scorn, we help!"

Szefernaker: The PiS government is a government friendly to local governments.

***** POLSAT EVENTS -- ANDRZEJ DUDA'S CONVERSATION WITH THE POPE. -- ACCORDING TO THE PRESIDENT, THE POPE PRAISED POLAND FOR ITS FIGHT AGAINST POVERTY AND THE 500+ PROGRAM - Agnieszka Milczarz from the Vatican. -- THE PRESIDENT DID NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION OF WHY HE DID NOT WITHHOLD JUDICIAL NOMINATIONS UNTIL THE CASE IS DECIDED BY THE EU COURT - Milczarz continued. -- POLITICIANS HAVE ONLY 101 HOURS LEFT TO CONVINCE VOTERS - Bogdan Rymanowski. -- IN A REPORT ON PATRYK JAKI'S VISIT TO MADRID. -- PATRYK JAKI HAS MADE THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE III AND IV METRO LINES THE CENTRAL THEME OF HIS CAMPAIGN - Dariusz Ociepa. -- TODAY'S TRIP TO MADRID IS A KIND OF CLOSURE - Ociepa continued. -- PIS IS USING THE WORDS OF GRZEGORZ SCHETYNA FROM THE SATURDAY CONVENTION - Ociepa. -- PIS HAS STARTED THE CAMPAIGN "THEY SCORN, WE HELP" - Ociepa continued. -- PRACTICALLY ONLY UNTIL TOMORROW, ALTHOUGH FORMALLY UNTIL FRIDAY, ONE CAN APPLY TO BE ADDED TO THE VOTER REGISTER WHERE THEY ARE NOT REGISTERED. -- GRZEGORZ KĘPKA ON THE SATURDAY EQUALITY MARCH AND ITS OPPONENTS. -- PAWEŁ SZEFERNAKER'S STATEMENT FROM A CONFERENCE. ***** TVN FACTS -- JAKI WANTS TO END THE CAMPAIGN AS HE BEGAN IT – WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE METRO – KRZYSZTOF SKÓRZYŃSKI ON THE WARSAW EPISODE OF THE CAMPAIGN: Patryk Jaki clearly wants to end the campaign before the first round, just as he opened it. Then he discussed the metro construction and its pace with Bulgarians, today with the former mayor of Madrid. Today, even bookmakers are convinced that there will be a second round of elections in Warsaw, and that it will be decided between these two. Any other outcome would be a sensation. -- THERE IS "THE THIRD ONE" IN GDANSK AND THERE COULD BE A BROTHERLY FIGHT – SKÓRZYŃSKI: In Gdansk, there is "the third one." And the poll for "Gazeta Wyborcza" indicates that in the first round, the results for the trio Adamowicz-Wałęsa-Płażyński are close. It might get interesting later, because in the same poll, in the second round, the candidate of the United Opposition is currently leading by a narrow margin. If Paweł Adamowicz meets Jarosław Wałęsa in the second round, then Gdańsk will be the scene of a fratricidal struggle. Because it will be a battle of the Platform candidate against a candidate who co-founded the Platform in Gdańsk. He was its local government leader until the prosecutor's office began to accuse him of errors in his financial statements. -- SKÓRZYŃSKI ON MAJCHROWSKI, WHO MAY BE GOING FOR A RECORD: And if these polls are confirmed and if the final stretch of the campaign changes nothing, then Jacek Majchrowski appears to be the favorite in both the first and second rounds. Today, it seems he is going for a record, as victory would mean... his fifth term in office. -- SKÓRZYŃSKI ON WASSERMANN'S WORDS REFERRING TO THE 2015 POLLS: It is true that Andrzej Duda started from a few percent, but as the elections approached, the poll results became increasingly even. -- SCHETYNA, WHEN ASKED ABOUT GOOD POLLS IN CITIES: Should I be worried? Hahaha. No, it shows that people are not falling for it. -- JAROSŁAW GOWIN ON THE FACT THAT THE REGIONAL ASSEMBLIES ARE DECISIVE: It is obvious that we cannot count on great support in large cities. I have said many times that the battle for the regional assemblies is decisive for us. -- KKZ ON PAD'S VISIT TO THE POPE: PAD DOES NOT BELIEVE THAT HIS DECISION, PRECEDING THE ECJ RULING ON THE SUPREME COURT, DISTANCES POLAND FROM THE EU OR UNDERMINES THE FOUNDATIONS ON WHICH THE COMMUNITY IS BUILT. -- AND CAN YOU POINT TO A PROVISION THAT OBLIGES ME TO DO SO? - PAD TO KKZ. -- IT'S NOT ABOUT A PROVISION BUT ABOUT TRUST WITH EUROPE - KKZ. -- PAD SAID THAT THE POPE PRAISED THE FIGHT AGAINST POVERTY AND THE 500+ PROGRAM, WHICH CAN BE CONSIDERED SURPRISING, BECAUSE POPES DO NOT USUALLY COMMENT ON POLITICS IN OTHER COUNTRIES - KKZ. -- ARLETA ZALEWSKA ON THE FIGHT FOR 3RD PLACE – DIVERTING ATTENTION FROM PO AND PIS: They decided to run in the elections independently. Under their own party banner. For the leaders of smaller opposition groups, these elections are an opportunity to test the real value of their party's logo under their leadership. In the final stretch before the elections, smaller parties have one goal: to divert voters' attention from PiS and Civic Coalition. -- TODAY, THE FAVORITE FOR 3RD PLACE IS ROZENEK, BUT THE DIFFERENCES ARE SMALL: In the capital, the fight for third place will go down to the wire. Although Andrzej Rozenek is the current favorite in the polls among representatives of smaller parties, the differences between the next candidates are really small. They are a maximum of 2 percentage points. ***** TVP NEWS -- THERE WILL BE A PROSECUTORIAL PROCEEDING REGARDING FORMER DEPUTY MINISTER OF FINANCE, ANDRZEJ PARAFIANOWICZ - announcement: He is the first official of the Tusk government who may face prosecution for negligence related to VAT collection. -- THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE ANNOUNCES THAT THERE WILL BE MUCH MORE MONEY FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS IN NEXT YEAR'S BUDGET THAN IN 2015 - Dominik Cierpioł: This includes money that, as a result of VAT sealing, will not go to tax mafias. -- THE PRESIDENTIAL COUPLE AT AN AUDIENCE WITH POPE FRANCIS - announcement. -- INFRASTRUCTURE IS THE TOPIC THAT OPENED THE LAST WEEK OF THE ELECTION CAMPAIGN IN THE REGIONS - announcement: The pace of activity, especially in Lower Silesia, was set by the politicians of the United Right. -- THE LAST WEEK OF THE CAMPAIGN FEATURES INCREASED ACTIVITY OF POLITICIANS IN THE REGIONS - Damian Diaz: The PiS chairman visited Otwock Wielki, where he pointed out the importance of cooperation between local governments and the government. -- EXPERTS ARGUE THAT INFRASTRUCTURE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TOPIC OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT CAMPAIGN - Diaz. -- MEETING OF THE PRIME MINISTERS OF POLAND AND THE CZECH REPUBLIC IN WARSAW - no material. -- PATRYK JAKI ON FASTER CONSTRUCTION OF THE WARSAW METRO USING MADRID AS AN EXAMPLE - announcement: Rafał Trzaskowski encourages paying taxes in the capital of Poland. Jaki on Warsaw Metro Construction: "I'll Prove It Can Be Built Faster. If Not, I'll Resign."

I will prove that it can be done [to build the metro faster]. If I become president, you will hold me accountable. If not, I will resign. In cities the size of Warsaw, the metro is a fundamental means of transport. If only 3 km are being built in Warsaw, it is a disgrace for Civic Platform (PO)” - said Patryk Jaki, the United Right (ZP) candidate for the president of Warsaw, at a press conference.
