"Join Tusk in Krakow”
"Take a walk in extraordinary company! Come at noon sharp to the Town Hall on the Main Market Square and #JoinTusk” - announce the organizers of Saturday's event "Join Tusk” via Facebook. We have heard that the President of the European Council will indeed appear in Krakow, but will be participating in a conference.

Szydło:

Tusk Didn't Really Take on Challenges. He Tried to Be a Passive President. He Adopted a Survival Strategy

Donald Tusk had a chance to do a lot of good for the European Union. He heads the Council, and during his tenure as president, he could have undertaken various initiatives. From my own experiences, including participating in this body, I can say that Donald Tusk didn't really take on such challenges. He tried to be a rather passive president. He adopted a survival strategy” – said Deputy Prime Minister Beata Szydło on RMF FM.

Szydło on PMM Tapes: This is Clearly an Attempt to Change Power in Poland

"I hope that the entire situation with the tapes will finally be clarified, because it is very dangerous for the state. An attack on the Prime Minister, an attempt to attack the Prime Minister. This is clearly an attempt to change power in Poland. Mateusz Morawiecki has never hidden that, when he was still the president of the bank, he had private, social conversations also in that restaurant. This material has appeared in the media before, so there is nothing new here" - said Deputy Prime Minister Beata Szydło on RMF FM.

Kosiniak's Unifying Message in PSL's Spot:

Poland Belongs to Neither PiS nor the Opposition. Let's Stop PiS and Unite Poles Again
"I talk to Poles. They tell me that the greatest sin of the Morawiecki and Kaczyński team is the deep division among us. Yet, Poland belongs neither to PiS nor the opposition, it is our common good – the citizens who want to live here together" – says Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in the spot inaugurating the PSL's television campaign, which 300POLITYKA is publishing first.

"Let's stop PiS and unite Poles again" – Kosiniak concludes the spot.

The agrarian politicians, with whom we have spoken, anticipate that Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz will be at the forefront of the PSL's campaign. PSL politicians tell us about in-depth qualitative research, during which statements such as: "If Kosiniak were leading Civic Platform, they would defeat PiS" were made. They also point out that Kosiniak, even in publicly available polls, performs better than other opposition leaders and can carry the PSL more effectively.

According to analyses by PSL strategists, the return of the discussion about the tapes is intended to equally hit PiS and Civic Platform, as loud statements made by PO politicians in restaurants are being recalled. In the opinion of our interlocutors, the PSL wants to leverage this backdrop.

Mazurek Demands Resignation of Civic Platform Spokesperson Jan Grabiec Following Sexist Remarks by Legionowo Mayor

Deputy Speaker Beata Mazurek demanded the resignation of Civic Platform (PO) spokesperson Jan Grabiec on Twitter. This is in response to the case of the Mayor of Legionowo, who presented candidates from his region in a sexist manner.

The video with the remarks made by Mayor Roman Smogorzewski was published yesterday by Deputy Speaker Stanisław Tyszka.

Jan Grabiec announced that Smogorzewski had resigned from his membership in the Civic Platform.

PM:

Funds for Local Road Construction Recovered from VAT Fraudsters
I am also very pleased that we can develop these local roads in municipalities like Podedwórze. This is a place where state support is truly most needed. The funds for building such roads, local roads that we are now developing to an extent previously non-existent and unobserved, these funds we have recovered from the hands of VAT mafias, fraudsters, and tax criminals. I am primarily glad about who builds such roads? Local entrepreneurs certainly build them. Not large international companies, which are sometimes needed, but primarily local entrepreneurs here. It cannot be that in a situation where a closed section of road prevents normal passage, funds for its repair are not found. What did the previous government, PO and PSL, do? They closed the road in September 2015 because it was too full of potholes. The problem is – hide it away. In our case, the voivode stated what the needs were, how the program should be structured, because previously it was a 50% own contribution and 50% state subsidy. We changed that and for municipalities that find it hardest to raise these funds, we offer an 80% contribution, which is a huge majority - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during the inauguration ceremony of district road no. 1615L Zaliszcze-Podedwórze. He added:
"Local roads mean a better quality of life for the inhabitants of villages, districts, and municipalities, but they also represent an opportunity to attract investors. Driving here, for those several dozen kilometers, I saw how many such roads are still very full of potholes. Although not closed, they are roads that need repairs. Our predecessors spent an average of PLN 650 million annually on local roads. Our Local Roads Fund, which we have already approved by the government and which has become a reality, will disburse funds amounting to PLN 6-6.5 billion, which is 10 times more in the upcoming year, year and a half, than our predecessors. This is possible thanks to a large program to seal the tax system and win battles against VAT mafias, which with their white collars were robbing Poland in broad daylight, and our predecessors looked through their fingers at all that was happening. This is evident from the budget figures."
- I am very pleased that, above all, the local community has actively shown how matters can be taken into their own hands and intervened, and with the support of funds from the central budget, in cooperation between local government and the central budget, this stretch of road has been rebuilt. And we will rebuild many, very many such stretches of road, especially if this cooperation continues to develop as it has here - said PM Morawiecki.

Tusk:

For Poles, There Is No Better Alternative Than Being Part of Europe as a Political Community, If Any Alternative Exists At All

I have very deep convictions regarding Europe and Poland's place in Europe. I would even say I have a profound faith, as it stems not only from rational assessments but from deep, positive emotions, that for us Poles, there is no better alternative, if any alternative exists at all, than being part of Europe understood as a political community. This is not about material benefits that can be calculated in euros or zlotys” - said the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, in Krakow.

10:49

Tusk:

The Term 'Liberal Democracy' Isn't Particularly Appealing in Poland Today

"We joined the EU with the conviction that there exists a world of political standards, certain principles, without which there is no Europe in a political sense. I may offend some ears by using the term liberal democracy, but in its essence, this is precisely what we are talking about. However, since the term itself is not particularly appealing in Poland today, let us translate it into a definition of what it is, what this Europe as a norm, this liberal democracy, entails" - said the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, in Krakow.

11:00

Tusk:

If on November 11th, leaders of Polish political parties could jointly demonstrate their ability to think about Poland's 100-year perspective, it would be a more valuable image than festivals and fireworks.
If on November 11th, leaders of Polish political parties, without exception, could jointly demonstrate not feigned friendship, but the fact that on this particular day they are capable of thinking about a hundred-year perspective for our homeland, and thus also about the perspective of reconciliation, the ability to talk to each other, it would perhaps be a much more valuable image for all Poles than the most spectacular festivals, fireworks, and other forms of celebrating this holiday – said the head of the European Council, Donald Tusk, in Krakow.

Gawkowski to Nowacka: Has the language and thinking of Civic Platform politicians changed? Can the instrumental and contemptuous treatment of women be justified?
"Has the language and thinking of Civic Platform politicians changed? Can the instrumental and contemptuous treatment of women be justified? Is it finally worth supporting a milieu that simply doesn't care about the important issues you've fought for over many years?" - Krzysztof Gawkowski wrote in an open letter to Barbara Nowacka. "Civic Platform hasn't changed! It's a party of power and will do anything for power! The left can also remove PiS from power. This is your place, and today is a good time to say, 'I was wrong!' I'm not on the same path as you because you simply deceived me! On the left, we won't dwell on the past. There will be no recriminations or insults. What's important is what lies ahead, and it's time for you to return with your visor up, to where you belong!" - writes Gawkowski.

PiS MPs Criticize Smogorzewski and Grabiec: Czerwińska States PO Spokesperson is Complicit and Co-responsible for Sexist and Violent Remarks at Legionowo Convention

We express our deep outrage at what happened at the election convention in Legionowa. It was an election convention of the local committee, headed by the candidate for the president of Legionowo, who currently holds this office, Roman Smogorzewski. During this convention, the presented female candidates were insulted, humiliated, and spoken of in an abusive manner. The spokesperson for PO, Jan Grabiec, participated in this convention and did not react to these sexist, discriminatory, and violent statements. He expressed satisfaction with the course of the convention, and subsequently did not in any way prevent the continuation of this insulting and humiliating of women, nor did he even attempt to rectify the harm done to these ladies. The PO spokesperson endorsed the current president and, as a token of recognition, presented him with a saber, saying: lead us into battle. Therefore, we ask PO: If this situation had not been publicized yesterday, if it had not met with very strong public protests expressed online yesterday, would Mr. Smogorzewski still be able to count on PO’s support? Why has PO not withdrawn this support until now?” – said PiS MP Aneta Czerwińska during a press conference.

We also believe that Jan Grabiec should not, as he is complicit and co-responsible for this situation, hold the position of PO spokesperson” – she added.

12:06

Schetyna:

We Want to Defend Local Government from PiS

- We want to defend local government, self-governance, local government from PiS, Kaczyński, this team which – especially in recent days, we all see it – has become so preoccupied with plundering Poland, state-owned companies, offices, institutions. That's why we are in local government, we are fighting for local government, we are so very active and we support civic candidates. In order to defend local government from PiS, self-governance. And we will do it, because today this is our most important task – stated Grzegorz Schetyna at the KO convention in Bydgoszcz.

12:14

Jaki:

In My First Week as Warsaw Mayor, I Will Sign the Decision to Build 50 New Nurseries and Kindergartens

- I would like to announce what my second decision will be, should I become the Mayor of Warsaw. It is very important that Warsaw receives a new impetus, that while respecting what has been accomplished in Warsaw so far, we ensure that Warsaw develops faster in many areas than it currently does. I am strongly convinced that this is possible. Yesterday, I signed my first commitment, which is a form of social contract with the residents of Warsaw. The first commitment concerned that if I become the Mayor of Warsaw, I will immediately commence the construction of the third and fourth metro lines. I have shown you that I have a plan on how to finance it. I have assurances from the government, from the Prime Minister and the Minister of Investment, that these funds will be secured. Therefore, even if someone among you would never consider voting for someone from PiS or United Right, I guarantee that I will implement this project, I will immediately commence the construction of the III and IV metro lines. This was my first commitment – stated Patryk Jaki at the conference.

- Today, my second commitment. In the first weeks of my term, I will not only make the decision to build the III and IV metro lines, but my next decision, within the first week of my term, will be the construction of 50 new nurseries and kindergartens. Warsaw needs new places for our children. Every district in Warsaw lacks places in nurseries, lacks places in kindergartens. This must change – announced the PiS candidate for Mayor of Warsaw.

Trzaskowski Met with Tusk

The article you provided is a link to a tweet. Therefore, I cannot translate the body text as it is not an article in a traditional sense. The title of the tweet, however, is:

In English, this translates to:

Trzaskowski Met with Tusk

Kaczyński:

The Stakes of These Elections Are Obvious. Either the Old Power, Old Arrangements, Old Connections, or Good Change, Governance with a Plan, for This Land, for Lublin, for Poland

- We are in Lublin, the capital of the Lublin region. And, as everywhere in Poland, but perhaps especially here, the stakes of these upcoming elections are obvious. Either the old power, old arrangements, old connections, governance which is in essence nothing more than a peculiar vector of various influences. Or good change, governance with a plan, for this land, for Lublin, for Poland. Who personifies this first version, we all know. Who personifies the second - we all know too. It is Sylwester Tułajew - stated Jarosław Kaczyński at a convention in Lublin.

12:56

Kaczyński:

I could speak at length about the polarization-diffusion concept. But here, not much needs to be said. We only need to recall Karpiński's statement from the tapes.

- We know that among the various differences between us and the current opposition, even before it became the total opposition, there was a change particularly significant for all those Poles, the vast majority, who live outside a few large metropolises. This is the difference between the polarization-diffusion concept, invented by Mr. Boni, from which they later retreated in various ways, and the concept of sustainable development. I could talk for a long time about this polarization-diffusion concept; it hasn't worked anywhere in the world, but here, in essence, not much needs to be said. We only need to recall Mr. Karpiński's statement from those tapes that are being talked about so much now. Perhaps some of you remember it. I cannot quote it because it contains an offensive word. In any case, it shows complete disregard for the eastern lands – stated Jarosław Kaczyński at a convention in Lublin. He added, "we want to pursue this sustainable development policy."

12:59

Kaczyński:

We Want to Win Everywhere, But We Also Know, as Realists, That We Won't Win in Every Municipality

- Of course, we want to win everywhere, but we also know, as realists, that we won't win in every municipality. There are many of these non-partisan committees. There are others too, so some common ground should be sought. It needs to be found. I think it's quite simple to find. It's the ground of patriotism. National and local. For the politicians of the good change, for good Polish politicians, Poland must be the most important place in the world - stated Jarosław Kaczyński at the convention in Lublin.

Tusk on PMM Tapes: Let This Be a Warning to All Those Who, With Pharisaical Zeal, Can Brutally Attack Their Opponents on Such Occasions

I will not speak about this with malicious satisfaction, because personally, no, but my colleagues were victims of these illegal recordings, so I will not gloat over my opponents now. Let this be a warning to all those who, on such occasions, with Pharisaical zeal, can brutally attack their opponents, and later, when it turns out that it also affects them, they forget all that happened before” - said Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, in Krakow about the PMM tapes.

13:08

Tusk on Conversation with President: "The President, indeed very concerned, spoke about not everyone wanting him for a second term"

As you know, I have been discreet all along, but as I noticed, the President decided to lift a corner of the veil. So, I will lift another corner. The conversation did not unfold as might be suggested by the speculation. In fact, the President, indeed very concerned, spoke about not everyone wanting him for a second term. And from this, a conversation about his future pension emerged, about which the President spoke without enthusiasm, which is understandable. He is still a young man. Incidentally, he did mention that, unlike his predecessor, he had not rented out his apartment for 10 years, which was meant to emphasize his caution regarding his future” – said European Council President Donald Tusk in Krakow.

13:10

Kaczyński:

Victory in Lublin is Possible
I confess to a sin. Not so long ago, I thought: let this young Sylwester [Tułajew] achieve a good result here, but defeating Mr. Żuk is impossible. Today, we know that it is possible. Victory is possible. Victory is also possible in the regional assembly - stated Jarosław Kaczyński at a convention in Lublin.

13:11

Tusk:

I'm Deeply Moved by This Welcome, Even My Closest Family in Sopot Doesn't Greet Me This Warmly

I am deeply moved by this welcome, because even my closest family, my wife, children, and grandchildren in Sopot, do not greet me as warmly as you do today in Krakow. I hope to reach them tonight and I hope they see that some people still like me and that this will be a challenge for them too” - said former Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Krakow.

13:14

Tusk:

I Observe Polish Politics From Morning to Evening, and Sometimes My Heart Truly Aches

"We must be together with Europe, and we must be together as Poles in Europe. November 11th and the centenary of independence is precisely the moment when, regardless of what happens in Polish politics on a daily basis, I observe it from morning to evening. Regardless of how far I am from Krakow, Warsaw, or Gdansk, from morning to evening I look at it, and sometimes my heart truly aches," said the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, in Krakow.

13:18

Tusk:

We Still Have a Great, Great Opportunity as Poland and Poles in Europe and the World. We Don't Need to Get Up From Our Knees, Because We Were Never On Them. Basic Reconciliation Between Poles is an Absolute Imperative of the Moment.
"We still have a great, great opportunity as Poland and Poles in Europe and the world. We don't need to perform any acrobatic feats. We don't need to get up from our knees, because we were never on them. We just need to finally be able to extend our hands to each other, we need to start arguing again without hatred, without bitterness, and I know very well that although it is the duty of the authorities to extend such a hand, I think that on November 11th, in every Polish home, we should think about the fact that, regardless of what we feel today, more unites Poles and must unite them in the future than divides them. Basic reconciliation between Poles is an absolute imperative of the moment. There is no reason for us to hate each other. None at all" – said the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, in Krakow.

13:28

PMM:

What Happened in Legionowo is Characteristic. Immense Contempt for Women in Particular, People, and Simultaneously Arrogance

- One must be wary of such imposters. Because what happened in Legionowo is characteristic. That the candidate, non-candidate, from Civic Platform, not from Civic Platform, has truly led to immense contempt for women in particular, for people, and simultaneously such arrogance stemming precisely from the fact that power, which has lasted so long – and in Legionowo, power has lasted since 2002, the power of PO and that man – it requires airing out, change. That is why we have implemented this change to two terms. And Lublin also requires change. This change is Sylwester Tułajew - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a convention in Bydgoszcz.

13:36

PMM on VAT: Mr. Schetyna and Mr. Kosiniak-Kamysz, Where is That Money? Where is it Hidden?
The most distinct element of this fight is the fight against pathologies in the tax system, against VAT mafias. We will win this fight. I will show this with some figures. In 2015, VAT to the budget, which is one of the main, absolutely main, approximately 50% component of the budget, a little less than 50%, was 123 billion PLN in 2015. Next year, it will be over 180 billion PLN. Approximately 183 billion PLN. There is a chance for 50% more in 4 years. When GDP growth + inflation measured by various indicators is, let's say, 15 to 20%. During the time of our predecessors, over 8 years, not taking into account this increase, VAT grew by 13-15%. For us, 50%. This difference, which the European Commission, which certainly doesn't love us, I don't know why, because it should, estimated at around 40 billion PLN. You have 60 billion PLN next year compared to this gap, which they determined. We subtract 20 billion for normal economic growth, although this is still a much higher increase than nominally during the PO-PSL era, and the gap is to a large extent, to some extent, significantly closed – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a convention in Bydgoszcz. Today, I wanted to ask our political competitors, where is that money? Where did it go? Where is that money hidden? Mr. Schetyna, Mr. Kosiniak-Kamysz? Where is that money today? Poles are asking about this and are waiting for an answer – PMM added.

Mazurek Demands Grabiec's Resignation from Schetyna: Unacceptable for Such a Person to Tolerate Indecent and Sexist Remarks Towards Women

In connection with the revealed recordings from the convention in Legionowo, containing vulgar, boorish, and sexist statements by the mayor of Legionowo, legitimized by the spokesperson [Grabiec] with his cheerful face, smile, and handshake. I demand from Grzegorz Schetyna to make a decision and dismiss Grabiec from his position as party spokesperson. It is unacceptable for such a person to tolerate such indecent and sexist remarks towards women. It is unacceptable that he smiled, did not react, and allowed the candidate for mayor to continue his statements. The lack of reaction from other women is puzzling: Ms. Lubnauer, Ms. Nowacka. I understand that they are very comfortable in Mr. Grabiec's company, but this in no way corresponds with modernity. This is neither modern, nor decent, nor humane,” said Deputy Marshal of the Sejm and PiS spokesperson, Beata Mazurek, at a press conference in Lublin.

15:41

Poręba on Smogorzewski's Statements: A Brutal Attack on the Dignity and Position of Women in Poland. PO, Using Such Language, is Responsible for This Attack

Today, we can all look at this matter in this way: it is a very brutal attack on the dignity and position of women in Poland. PO, by using the language we heard yesterday, is responsible for this attack on Polish women” – said the head of the PiS campaign staff, Tomasz Poręba, in Lublin.

15:45

Mazurek on Tusk's Words About the Necessity of Reconciliation: We Hope the Total Opposition Will Come to Their Senses, Even for a Moment, and Be Willing to Celebrate the Centenary of Independence Together

We are very pleased with these words [Tusk on the necessity of reconciliation]. Prime Minister Morawiecki appealed for this reconciliation and for unity during the Independence Day celebrations as early as September 1st. We hope that the total opposition will come to their senses, even for a moment, and be willing to celebrate the centenary of independence together, and that at least once they will forget to be the total opposition, to fight us on the streets and abroad” – said the PiS spokesperson, Deputy Marshal Beata Mazurek.

18:54

Kaczyński:

'Total Opposition' is something Poland Hasn't Seen Before
- This is a new quality. 'Total opposition' is something that has not occurred in Poland to date, and I don't recall any democratic country using the term 'total opposition.' Yes, power in various countries has been total. But I haven't heard of a total opposition before - stated PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński in Krosno.

19:06

Kaczyński:

Today Many Local Governments Held by Civic Platform Are Simply Participating in a War Against the Government

- Great cooperation is needed, because what I am saying is not, as some try to attribute to us, some form of pressure – choose us, and then we will cooperate well. No, this is a reference to reality. Today, many local governments held by Civic Platform are simply participating in a war against the government. This total war. This certainly does not serve cooperation, collaboration – stated PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński in Krosno.

19:07

Kaczyński:

We Don't Propose Wars. We Propose Cooperation

- We don't propose wars. We propose cooperation. We don't propose shouting. Shouting and trumpets, which we heard here. We propose work for Poland, which has brought and is already bringing results in all areas - stated the PiS chairman Jarosław Kaczyński in Krosno.

19:26

Kaczyński:

Thieves Furiously Attack the Prime Minister Because He Took From Them

- We have excellent results when it comes to tax collection. Thieves furiously attack the Prime Minister because he took from them, and this really needs to be counted in tens and hundreds of billions of zlotys - stated PiS chairman Jarosław Kaczyński in Krosno.
