Jaki to Trzaskowski: I'll Remind You What Symbol is Associated with Your Rule. Operation "Widelec" or Maciek Dobrowolski, People Unjustly Arrested by Civic Platform, and Legia Fans Who Suffered Because of It
“As you hear from my esteemed opponent, who represents Civic Platform, what he is saying. We will introduce, we will be introducing. Clearly, it hasn’t been possible to introduce for 12 years because Patryk Jaki, who is hindering them, has been governing in Warsaw. I would prefer you to account for what you have done so far, not what you will do. It’s evident that my esteemed competitors lack knowledge about sports. The decision to build the Legia stadium was made by the late President Lech Kaczyński, the agreement was signed by a PiS commissioner, and the dispute concerned a very controversial agreement with ITI” – Patryk Jaki said during a debate hosted by 300POLITYKI and Legia.

I will remind you what symbol is associated with your rule. You can ask the fans. Operation "Widelec" or Maciek Dobrowolski, people unjustly arrested by Civic Platform, and Legia fans who suffered because of it. Today, sports in Warsaw are about parents and enthusiasts. It is high time for local government to become a catalyst for the city's development” – he added.

Trzaskowski:

Błaszczak Wanted to Complain to the European Commission About the Decision to Expand Legia's Stadium

- It's interesting to hear an assessment of sports in Warsaw from a PiS representative. After all, if PiS had wanted what has been done, Legia's stadium wouldn't exist. Representatives of that party on the city council voted against the expansion of this stadium, and Minister Błaszczak wanted to complain to the EC about the decision to expand the stadium. I am announcing the need for new investments. When I hear something on this topic from a PiS representative, Legia's fans will, of course, assess how PiS behaved - stated Rafał Trzaskowski during a debate with Legia and 300POLITYKI. - During the rule of Lech Kaczyński, there were no serious investments, and the arrest of Tomasz Lipiec was a symbol of how PiS dealt with sports - added the KO candidate.

12:13

Wojciechowicz:

I would like to establish a presidential council for sports

I would like to establish a presidential council for sports because it seems that the sports community needs to be brought together and engaged in dialogue. Specifically regarding clubs, let's sit down at the table and discuss sponsorship agreements, but also set specific goals, because it cannot be the case that only the city will pay” - said Jacek Wojciechowicz during a debate organized by 300POLITYKA and Legia.

12:31

Trzaskowski:

Credibility Matters in Politics; Anything Can Be Promised. Jaki Didn't Support Our Skra Amendment
- A long-standing court battle, finally won by the city, and we will finally be able to invest at Skra. It wasn't the city that was the host of Skra, I recall - stated Rafał Trzaskowski during a debate between Legia and 300POLITYKI. - Credibility matters in politics. Because anything can be promised. The question is, why, at the moment when MP Szczerba and we submitted an amendment to the budget to secure funds for Skra, did Patryk Jaki not support it then - he added. He stated that Jaki also did not support the amendment concerning the sports and entertainment hall.

12:31

Piechna-Więckiewicz:

If We Don't Focus on Mass and Amateur Sports, We Won't See Major Successes in Professional Sports Either

Mass sport, sport for children, is the most important. When I see that during summer breaks or holidays, kids can't access their school sports fields and are dangerously climbing over fences because, despite the city's declarations, these fields are not open. We need to spend real money on securing people who will be responsible for the children's safety on the fields, on mass sports, so that children don't become obese, and sport can help them with that. I think an arena is very important, but if we don't focus on mass and amateur sports, we won't see major successes in professional sports either” - said Paulina Piechna-Więckiewicz, a candidate for deputy mayor representing the Wygra Warszawa coalition, during a debate hosted by 300POLITYKI and Legia.

12:35

Kwieciński:

We Still Face Challenges with Some Regions Utilizing European Funds

We still have problems with the utilization of European funds by some regions. Although I must say there has been significant progress. The Damocles sword hangs over us, on one hand the n+3 rule, the obligation to spend certain amounts by the end of this year, and the second related to the funds we have in the execution reserve” – stated Minister Jerzy Kwieciński at a press conference.

12:43

Jaki Responds to Trzaskowski: It Was a Propaganda Stunt. He Doesn't Know You First Have to Enter It into the Budget, and Only Then Vote in Parliament

- My esteemed competitor from Civic Platform was just talking about how I didn't vote for Skra to allocate funds. I have a request. If we want to talk seriously about sports, and we are in the capital city, then let's talk about the details, not these populist slogans. I would have to ask this question: when submitting this motion, did Civic Platform secure the project and funds in the city budget so that I could vote for it? The answer is: no. It was solely a propaganda stunt. And do you know why my competitor doesn't know that you first have to enter it into the budget, and only then vote in parliament? Because he has no experience in local government, and I do - stated Patryk Jaki during the debate between Legia and 300POLITYKI.

12:46

Jaki:

The End of Legia's Discrimination

- What does it mean that I will bet on Legia? It means that Legia will finally receive the resources and help it deserves. The end of Legia's discrimination - stated Patryk Jaki during a debate between Legia and 300POLITYKI.

12:57

Jaki:

I Wanted to Inform Trzaskowski That a Bailiff Seized 5 Million PLN from Legia. The Bailiff is from Śródmieście, from Civic Platform.
I would really like us to discuss sports in an exceptionally serious manner. That is why I prepared for the debate and showed you with numbers why Warsaw's sports sector is developing disproportionately to its potential. I was the only one who brought comparative budget data from other municipalities today, and I showed how financing works in other clubs. I cited documents and analyses from external, objective research centers. I want sports in Warsaw to be taken seriously. That's why I want to make commitments. I will ensure that in Warsaw, funding, as it should be in other parts of Poland and Europe, reaches 5% of budget expenditures. I will simply do it. Secondly, Warsaw will finally build a sports hall, because Warsaw has long deserved it – stated Patryk Jaki during the debate with Legia and 300POLITYKI. - I will rebuild historical facilities and take care of Legia – he continued. – There is one symbol of Civic Platform's rule in Warsaw, connected to Legia. That symbol is a bailiff. I wanted to inform my opponent Rafał Trzaskowski about how a bailiff seized 5 million PLN from Legia. The bailiff is from the Śródmieście district, from Civic Platform. I very much ask for reflection – added the PiS candidate.

13:05

Trzaskowski:

Every Legia fan knows that if it had gone the way PiS wanted, this stadium simply wouldn't exist

- Every Legia fan knows that if it had gone the way PiS wanted, this stadium simply wouldn't exist. And regarding the bailiff, if my opponent knew anything more about this – the basis for calculating the tax has just been changed so that Legia would pay less tax. My opponent said: I and my group, when we took power. We would very much not want that group that takes over and assumes power – stated Rafał Trzaskowski during the debate between Legia and 300POLITYKI.

13:08

Trzaskowski on Sports in Warsaw: No, it's Not Perfect, and That's Why We Need to Draw Conclusions
Now about sports in Warsaw. Is it perfect? No, it's not perfect, and that's why we need to draw conclusions. We need to invest, and these investments, which we support, are necessary for that. A sports and entertainment hall, a youth sports center, or investments in Skra. Here, we need to use the best possible models, and with all due respect, this is not the infrastructure for Ekstraklasa - Odra Opole or Levski Spartak Sofia. Really - stated Rafał Trzaskowski during a debate between Legia and 300POLITYKI.

13:12

Wojciechowicz:

Just as every team needs a good coach, so too does a city need a good steward

Just as Legia Warsaw, every team needs a good coach, so too does a city need a good steward. Patryk Jaki said he has experience in local government. I would like to say, perhaps it will sound a little immodest, but I have been working for Warsaw for 20 years. First in the positions of deputy mayors, and then for 10 years as the first deputy president of Warsaw – stated Jacek Wojciechowicz during the debate of Legia and 300POLITYKI.

Political parties that somehow blackmail Warsaw residents, saying that you have to vote for them because there is no other choice. This is not true. In reality, political parties or a party president unfortunately mean thousands of party activists, party interests, and not necessarily thinking in terms of the common good, citizens, residents of Warsaw, or Warsaw itself – he added.

Mazurek on the Debate on Retirement Age within Civic Coalition: Civic Coalition Changes Its Mind More Often Than a Woman Changes Gloves

"We would like to once again expose the embarrassment and low credibility of the Civic Coalition. This is related to Katarzyna Lubnauer's interview on one of the radio programs. Ms. Lubnauer not long ago, in August, said that a lower retirement age is a defeat for the Polish pension system, and today she said that the retirement age should be higher because we live longer, and we will do everything to make people work longer. Schetyna spoke about leaving the retirement age as it is today, and Lubnauer said she wouldn't sign under that. Hence the question about credibility. They do everything for electoral needs, they promise anything just to retain power in the regional assemblies," said Deputy Marshal Beata Mazurek at a press conference in the Sejm.

"On October 21st, it is worth trusting PiS, because they keep their word in government and will keep it in local government, not the Civic Coalition, which changes its mind more often than a woman changes gloves," she added.

13:51

Mazurek on PiS's Stance on Anti-Vaccination Law: 'We Are Still Discussing It'

"Once we have a stance, we will present it. We are still discussing it. We know the Minister of Health's position. Most of us support that position," said Deputy Marshal Beata Mazurek at a press conference in the Sejm.

13:54

Mazurek:

There is no tape scandal involving Prime Minister Morawiecki, nor is there a Radom scandal

This tape is a warmed-up leftover from a few years ago. There is nothing new in it. It’s good that it was revealed yesterday, or rather, replayed. I think the best commentary on this will be the words of Schetyna, who said that this is a scandal invented to cover up the Radom deal. There is no tape scandal involving Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, nor is there a Radom scandal. Let’s not get worked up” - said PiS spokesperson Beata Mazurek in the Sejm.

13:59

Mazurek:

The European Commission is deaf to our arguments. Once there is a ruling, we will respond and comment on it

For us, this was not a surprise [the EC's motion to the CJEU]. Most of us were convinced that such a situation would occur. The EC is deaf to our arguments. In my opinion, it does not actually respect the treaties that give us the right to sovereignly legislate in Poland. Once there is a ruling, we will respond and comment on it, but we will certainly present our case again, and I hope that the CJEU judges will maintain their objectivity and will not continue to fuel the opposition in Poland” – said the PiS spokesperson, Deputy Speaker Beata Mazurek.

Wide Reach of Today's Debate Between Legia and 300POLITYKI

17:15

Jaki:

Warsaw Metro Construction Is Under Threat

"The construction of the metro in Warsaw is under threat. Madam Mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz and Civic Platform signed an agreement a few days ago to complete the second metro line, among others, with a company that, as it turns out today, is bankrupt. The company that is supposed to build the Warsaw metro is bankrupt. Who is responsible for this? Does anyone even check the documents they sign?" asked Patryk Jaki, the United Right candidate for Mayor of Warsaw, at a press conference.

"If these people continue to govern in Warsaw, the metro construction will drag on even longer. We have repeatedly seen sections of the metro being built much longer than in other cities in the region and longer than Platforma itself planned, due to the mistakes they made," he added.

17:20

Trzaskowski's Proposals for Wawer: Sewage Systems, Unpaved Roads, More SKM Trains, and Anti-Smog Measures

- First, an intensive expansion of the sewage system and paving of all unpaved roads. Very specific questions were raised here about sewage issues. It also cannot be the case that there are unpaved roads in Warsaw. I announce that by the end of my term, in all these districts, such as Wawer, Białołęka, Ursus, Wesoła, or Rembertów, we will pave all local roads - said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference.

- The second issue is more frequent SKM train services. This is a topic that comes up very often in conversations with Wawer residents. We respond: we will negotiate this. The city is ready to purchase more rolling stock. We want to expand the SKM network as part of the "Better Communication Capital" initiative, where we want to talk about a better metro network, new tram lines, buses, and also SKM. We will discuss this with PKP – Trzaskowski continued.

- Finally, the third issue. Very important for Wawer. Also important for districts like Włochy or Wesoła, and even for some parts of Ursynów, which is low emissions and the associated smog. We will fight against it, we have a very concrete program. Replacing stoves, eliminating all "smokers" (old, polluting stoves) in municipal apartments. An extensive program; a lot has happened thanks to Warsaw, thanks to the region. We want to go a step further. We want these subsidies to be larger, also covering the initial plan to switch to the gas network. We will do all of this because the fight against smog is extremely important. It is a shame that when we submitted a bill to the Sejm that would allow for a systematic fight against smog, unfortunately, PiS decided to throw it in the bin – added the candidate for the city's president.

17:23

Jaki:

How is it that only Trzaskowski is allowed onto the metro construction site? Where are the other candidates? Why is the City Hall campaigning for Civic Platform?

The question must be asked to the Platforma-led City Hall. How is it that only Rafał Trzaskowski is allowed onto the metro construction site? Where are the other candidates? Why is the City Hall campaigning for Civic Platform? When it comes to funds for the metro, let's be blunt. In Warsaw, Civic Platform has been incapable of looking after public funds, as demonstrated by the reprivatization scandal. Therefore, if it were up to me, I wouldn't even entrust these people with guarding goldfish, let alone allocating large sums of money. To be clear. Do you want the third and fourth metro lines to be completed? You need to vote for an honest team” – said Deputy Minister Patryk Jaki at a press conference.

President Duda Signs Act on Medical Worker Salaries: A Significant Systemic Change

- This act introduces a significant systemic change – said Andrzej Duda during the signing of the act on medical worker salaries.

- It was also highly anticipated by me. The act signed today amends the act from June 2017, which did not sufficiently address the problems related to remuneration for individuals involved in the healthcare process – added the president.

19:14

President Appoints New Advisors

President Andrzej Duda has appointed new social advisors. The act of appointment to the position of Advisor to the President of the Republic of Poland was received by advocate Rafał Kos and Mariusz Rusiecki, the Chancellery of the President announced. The main areas of activity for the advisors will be issues related to the economy, local government, and economic law.

Advocate, Doctor of Legal Sciences, Rafał Kos, specializes in issues of economic law and international commercial arbitration. Mariusz Rusiecki is a councilor of the Łódź Voivodeship for the 2014-2018 term and a director in the retail sales area at PKN ORLEN S.A.

During the ceremony, Minister Paweł Mucha, who coordinates the work of the President's Advisors, accompanied the President of the Republic of Poland.

19:34

President Duda on US Base: The Decision Has Practically Been Made

- According to some in the White House, in this so-called American administration, the decision has practically been made. Technical issues remain – said Andrzej Duda in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" Polsat News.

- That's what some are saying. Those who are privy to these internal dealings, that when talks have progressed this far and the White House has so openly acknowledged the existence of a given topic, then the decision has practically been made, but there are still significant technical issues that need to be resolved – the President added.

19:41

President Duda on Vetoing EU Parliament Election Regulations: "Kaczyński Raised No Objections to Me"

- [Relations with Jarosław Kaczyński] are good. State matters are most important for us. For me, the matters of Poland are most important, and I am convinced that for President Kaczyński, the matters of Poland are also most important. In matters significant for Poland, we will always find common ground. We spoke a few days ago [recently]. About current state affairs, the visit to the USA, all that is important for the state. It was a conversation over a table, as we do - stated President Andrzej Duda in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News' "Wydarzenia i opinie". When asked about running in the presidential elections, he stated that "decisions will be made in due course".

- President [Kaczyński] raised no objections to me [after the veto of the EU Parliament election regulations]. I believe the decision I made was a wise one from the perspective of Poland's interests, certain political stability in Poland, and it was, in fact, the only correct decision - added PAD.

19:46

President Duda on the Circumstances of Signing the Agreement with Trump: From a Protocol Standpoint, the Situation Was Informal

- Donald Trump is, above all, a pragmatic person, he is a businessman. What matters to him most is that the matter is settled. As efficiently, as quickly, as well as possible. First and foremost, let's move on to the next topic and discuss the next element of our cooperation - said Andrzej Duda in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" on Polsat News.

- We did not operate according to any highly established schedule; the issue was indeed negotiated until the last moment. It is not a standard American practice, always functioning, for the president to personally sign such an agreement. I very much wanted this agreement to be signed personally by the President of the United States. From a protocol standpoint, the situation was informal – stated the president.

19:48

President Duda on the PMM Tapes: There Were No Matters Dangerous or Harmful to the Polish State

- There is this tape from yesterday. I listened to the [recording with Prime Minister Morawiecki] to see what was said. We've known about recordings for years. The tape scandal has been ongoing for years, after all. I don't know if the content of these recordings has caused you great consternation. In my opinion, there were no matters dangerous to the state, harmful to the Polish state. There was no mention of any actions that would be criminal in nature or – as they say – scams. I don't hear any of that. It's a conversation of a man who was, in fact, a businessman at the time, because he was the CEO of a bank. Today he is the Prime Minister, his role has changed, in Poland generally. He probably looks at many things differently today – stated President Andrzej Duda in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News' "Wydarzenia i opinie" (Events and Opinions).

- Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. It was a private conversation, surely no one expected to be recorded. He was talking with a group of acquaintances, probably his own, I suspect. It wasn't an official conversation held in public. It wasn't his public address. It was a conversation in a closed room, among friends. The language is as it is, it may not appeal to everyone, but on the other hand, let's be honest, people talk in different ways. Sometimes a person uses a curse word. It may not be pleasing, but that's life – added PAD.

19:52

President Duda to Prime Minister Morawiecki: Don't Worry About That One Recording, Just Do Your Job

- You asked me what I could advise Prime Minister Morawiecki. I would tell the Prime Minister this: Mr. Prime Minister, you may not have been in politics for very long, but if this is the only recording on which you've been captured, then please don't worry about it at all, just do your job. Even if they try to attack you with it, and they probably will, because your activities have harmed many serious interests. After all, someone until now was stealing that VAT, which is now being recovered and becoming state treasury funds, as it should be. Someone until now was taking these taxes for themselves - stated President Andrzej Duda in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News's "Wydarzenia i opinie".

19:56

President Duda Asked About Re-election Decision: There is Still Plenty of Time

"I want to finish my term, for which Poles elected me. That is the most important thing. I hope I will do it well. There is still plenty of time [for the decision regarding re-election]. As in any such situation, the decision will be made at the appropriate time" - said President Andrzej Duda in the program "Wydarzenia i opinie" on Polsat News.

20:00

President Duda on Frigate Purchase: Government's Decision Was Different and Changed Days Before Departure
The government's decision was different than what the Minister of National Defence expected, than what I expected. I found out about it earlier, but what surprised me was that the government's decision was different before, and it changed a few days before the departure – said Andrzej Duda in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" (Events and Opinions) on Polsat News. - This surprised me because I believed that purchasing such vessels for a transitional period, until we produce our own new ships of this type, was realistic and sensible – the President added.

20:03

President Duda on Tapes: 'Perhaps Someone Wanted Material for Political Blackmail. I Cannot Rule This Out'

- Perhaps someone wanted to have material for political blackmail. I cannot rule this out. Let the prosecution and courts deal with it. I can say this: the tapes were recorded, we all heard them. We all know the statements made by Civic Platform politicians, what they were. But in this particular material that was made available to us in the media, where the current prime minister speaks, I do not see, in terms of content, anything anti-state - stated President Andrzej Duda in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News's "Wydarzenia i opinie".

20:17

President Duda: For me, Judge Gersdorf is a retired judge

- For me, Judge Gersdorf is a retired judge – said Andrzej Duda in a conversation with Bogdan Rymanowski on the Polsat News program „Wydarzenia i Opinie” (Events and Opinions).

- Judge Gersdorf could have sent this act to the Constitutional Tribunal if she disagreed with it. She had a lot of time to do so and didn't, so I understand that she considered the act to be in line with the constitution, and it probably didn't raise her doubts since she didn't send it to the Constitutional Tribunal. As the First President of the Supreme Court, she had several months to do this – the President added.

20:26

President Duda: I Strictly Adhere to the Constitution

- I feel like going out and shouting "Constitution, Constitution." That is because I strictly adhere to the Constitution. I expect others to adhere to it as well, and unfortunately, the courts are not adhering to it, and that is Poland's tragedy - stated President Andrzej Duda in a conversation with Bogdan Rymanowski on "Events and Opinions" on Polsat News.

20:31

Horała on VAT: There will always be some crimes; the goal is to minimize them. The problem, and the reason for the investigative committee, is that between 2007-2015, there were many more, many times more.
There will always be some crimes; the goal is to minimize them. The problem, and the reason for the investigative committee, is that between 2007-2015, there were many more, many times more. Already in the first year after the change of government, this number doubled. The VAT gap doubled and continued to grow afterwards. We fell from second to twenty-second place in Europe in terms of VAT collection. This is the period we are investigating. It was also necessary to stop these frauds, and this is the greatest achievement of Mateusz Morawiecki's government – said Marcin Horała in an interview with Danuta Holecka on the TVP Info program "Gość Wiadomości".

20:42

Horała on PMM Tapes: 'It Reminds Me of Eliot Ness Chasing Al Capone, Who Was Also Tarnished'

- If someone, especially a criminal, loses 100,000 zlotys, a million, they are capable of various things, let alone if criminals, interest groups, have also lost 30 billion. There is nothing in this [tape] affair. The tape they talked about is a tape known for three years, on which there is nothing. It reminds me of the story of Eliot Ness, who chased Al Capone and was also tarnished for a long time and accused of being a criminal himself. There were also attacks, but then everyone saw what it was all about. That criminals are still defending themselves, that they want to continue their illicit activities. To continue gaining billions of zlotys in our case. It's hard not to connect this [tapes with VAT collection] - said Marcin Horała in an interview with Danuta Holecka on the TVP Info program 'Gość Wiadomości'.
