Senate Does Not Consider Bill on Parliamentarians' Salary Cuts; Next Session in June
Although yesterday the Senate committee adopted a bill amending the law, proposing a 20% reduction in parliamentarians' salaries, the Senate – during its recently concluded session – did not manage to vote on this proposal. Yesterday, Marshal of the Senate Stanisław Karczewski stated that he had not yet received the committee's report, thus this item would be considered at a later date.
Some other bills that the Sejm adopted last week – such as the CPK and the amendment to court laws – were approved by the Senate today. According to the schedule, the next session of the upper house will take place from June 6th to 8th. In practice, this means that the salary reduction will be somewhat delayed – the law comes into effect on the first day of the second month following the month of its announcement.
