Wojciechowicz on CPK: I would like to appeal to the Warsaw City Council to take a clear stance and consider holding a referendum - The reason for this conference is yesterday's decision by the Sejm [regarding the CPK bill], which in practice means the liquidation of Chopin Airport in Warsaw. Of course, in a few years. As the Institute for the Development of Warsaw, we have been dealing with this matter for quite some time. We spoke about it at a conference in April this year. We believe that Chopin Airport is a matter of life or death for Warsaw. It is extremely important from the perspective of development, economic development, but also due to practical reasons, such as the convenience of Warsaw residents, who extensively use the airport. For Warsaw, this means the loss of millions in taxes, and tens of thousands of jobs for people working at Chopin Airport. Finally, it is worth asking why a decision was made that means that tens of billions of zlotys, which have been invested in airport infrastructure, as well as surrounding infrastructure, will be thrown away? It is also worth adding that over 3 billion invested in Modlin Airport will also practically be money wasted. I would like to appeal to the Warsaw City Council to take a clear stance on this matter and to consider the possibility of holding a referendum so that all Warsaw residents can express their opinions on this extremely important issue – stated Jacek Wojciechowicz at a briefing.
