President Duda Thanks Macierewicz: He Undertook the Hugely Ambitious Task of Acquiring This Specific System
- It's a huge amount of money, but we all know very well, also from our historical experience, that security has no price. I discussed this matter, this purchase, in the summer of last year during President Trump's visit to Warsaw. I said then: Mr. President, we very much want to buy this system, it is very important to us. This system and other offers of American armament. But we want to have this system first, we want it to be the foundation of our future cooperation, but we need a good price for it. Because we are a developing country, with many needs and expenses we must incur. It has to be an amount we can afford. We know that security is priceless, but we also have our budget and constraints. Give us a price that we can manage. This price was successfully negotiated. I am very grateful for this to the negotiation team, and to the minister, because the final phase proceeded under his supervision, but I also thank the previous minister, Antoni Macierewicz. He undertook this incredibly ambitious task, which was precisely the acquisition of this specific system - said President Andrzej Duda during the signing of the agreement for the purchase of Patriot systems.
