Bielan:

Presidential-Government Relations Will Change; Government's Core Needs Strengthening, Interpreting Kaczyński's Words

Michał Olech

Bielan: Relations between the President and the governing majority will be somewhat different. The government's core will need strengthening. This is how I interpret Kaczyński's words - I don't want to comment on personnel changes at this moment. This week, we are trying to summarize two years of our governance, as we believe much has been achieved during these two years - Adam Bielan said on TV Republika. He added:
"Nobody is guaranteed to remain in any position, not even the Deputy Speaker of the Senate. Everyone is - one could say - hired by the voters and the governing majority for specific tasks. President Kaczyński also spoke about the fact that if any personnel changes occur, for example in ministries, they will not solely stem from a possible poor assessment of someone's work or burnout, but also from the fact that political circumstances change from time to time. Poland is in a different place than two years ago when this government was appointed. Certain new circumstances arose after President Duda's veto. Simply put, the political situation has changed.”
- An agreement [on courts] has been reached, although voting and proceedings in parliament, including the Senate, are still ahead. This will happen in the next few weeks, but there's no hiding that the relationship between the President and the governing majority will be somewhat different from this moment on. And this is indeed a somewhat more difficult situation. Consequently - I believe - this is how I interpret President Kaczyński's words, the government's core will need strengthening - added the Deputy Speaker of the Senate.
