-- THE INITIAL FEELING IS THAT THE PLAN IS A LACK OF A PLAN, NO CONCRETE DETAILS WERE GIVEN AND IT'S HARD TO BE OPTIMISTIC - JAKUB KOSIKOWSKI, DOCTOR AND SPOKESPERSON FOR THE SUPREME MEDICAL CHAMBER, TELLS INTERIA: “- We heard what has been achieved in healthcare, but we are not discussing that. Nobody questions the validity of the in vitro program or the expansion of cervical cancer screening. It's great that such things are happening. Only we are still in a crisis, and these problems need to be faced - believes the NIL spokesperson.”

-- IF THE COALITION IS TO SURVIVE AND NOT GIVE UP THE SEJM IN TWO YEARS, IT MUST BE UNITED AND IMPLEMENT ITS OWN, NOT OTHERS', PROMISES - DOMINIKA WIELOWIEYSKA IN GW: “If the October 15th Coalition is to survive and not cede the Sejm in two years to Kaczyński, Mentzen with Krzysztof Bosak, and Grzegorz Braun, it must be united and implement its own, not others', promises. Lack of loyalty, disputes, and splitting hairs – these typically do not bring popularity to any ruling coalition. And this is precisely the policy that Hołownia pursued, casting himself in the role of a critical reviewer of the government he co-created.”
-- VOTERS MAY APPRECIATE THE CLEAR STANCE TAKEN BY TUSK AND CZARZASTY: THE GOVERNMENT TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR GOVERNING - WIELOWIEYSKA FURTHER IN GW: “Voters may appreciate the clear stance taken by Tusk and Czarzasty: the government takes responsibility for governing; if the president wants to implement his program, he must wait until the parties he patronizes gain a majority in the Sejm, and then he can impose his projects on them.”
-- THE TABLES HAVE TURNED AND POLARIZATION, KACZYŃSKI'S FAVORITE, PROVEN TOOL, IS NOW WORKING IN FAVOR OF THE RULING PARTY - WIELOWIEYSKA CLAIMS: “The tide has turned, and polarization, Kaczyński's favorite, proven tool, is now working in favor of the ruling party. Tusk, Czarzasty, and on the other side, PSL leader Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, cater to three slightly different electorates. Polska 2050, which aimed to capture a piece of each, thus competing with everyone, has significantly weakened. Simultaneously, animosities within the coalition have subsided.”
-- ON THE POPULIST RIGHT, THERE IS A FULL-BLOWN FIGHT FOR THE SAME ELECTORATE – MUCH LIKE IN THE TIMES OF RIGHT-WING GLOOM IN THE 90S – IN SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES, CZARZASTY'S STRATEGY MAY BRING BENEFITS TO BOTH THE LEFT AND THE ENTIRE COALITION - WIELOWIEYSKA'S CONCLUSION IN GW: “Meanwhile, on the populist right, there is a full-blown fight for the same electorate – much like in the times of right-wing gloom in the 90s – which, at least at this stage, involves the complete elimination of right-wing competitors. Added to this are increasingly bitter conflicts within PiS. In such circumstances, Czarzasty's strategy may bring benefits to both the Left and the entire coalition.”

-- AT ONE POINT, MY INTERLOCUTOR ASKED ME: “AM I UNDERSTANDING CORRECTLY THAT WE NOW FEEL THE WAY THEY FELT ALL THOSE YEARS BEFORE 2015?” - PROF. MIKOŁAJ CZEŚNIK - SOCIOLOGIST AND POLITICAL SCIENTIST, DIRECTOR OF THE INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES AT SWPS UNIVERSITY, IN A POLEMIC WITH ANDRZEJ MACHOWSKI IN GW: “At this point, allow me to recall an anecdote that – I believe – well illustrates the essence of the issue being discussed. In the spring of 2016, a few months after Law and Justice took power, I met with one of my acquaintances – an academic (but not a political researcher), rather skeptical of the new government. We were discussing the political situation, the changes taking place, but above all, our growing discomfort and fear of what might still happen. At one point, my interlocutor asked me: 'Am I understanding correctly that we now feel the way they felt all those years before 2015?'”
-- THE EXPERIENCE OF SYMBOLIC AND POLITICAL EXCLUSION MAY BE A NOVELTY – BUT FOR THE WORKING CLASS, IT WAS A PERMANENT STATE FOR DECADES - PROF. MIKOŁAJ CZEŚNIK FURTHER IN GW: “With this question – simple, yet profound – he captured the core of the problem: for a significant portion of Polish elites and ruling classes, the experience of symbolic and political exclusion may be a novelty – but for the working class, it was a permanent state for decades.”
-- A SUDDEN CLASS MOMENT – PROF. MIKOŁAJ CZEŚNIK STILL IN GW: “This sudden class moment (thanks to Justyna Kajta for this useful category) did not yet signify equality, but it was – perhaps – the first step towards empathetic understanding of others. True recognition begins when we are able to put ourselves in the shoes of others – including those who differ from us not only in views but also in language, experience, and values.”
-- IT IS KO VOTERS WHO EXPRESS A HIGHER LEVEL OF CONTEMPT TOWARDS THE PIS ELECTORATE THAN VICE VERSA - PROF. MIKOŁAJ CZEŚNIK CITES BILEWICZ'S RESEARCH: “Agreed – perhaps contempt for the working classes among Polish elites is less fashionable today than it used to be. Perhaps there is less talk about 'moher berets' and 'dark masses'. However, research by Michał Bilewicz and his team from the Center for Research on Prejudice clearly shows that intergroup prejudices are thriving in Poland, and it is KO voters who express a higher level of contempt towards the PiS electorate than vice versa. Therefore, if recognition were truly achieved, we would expect symmetry – not its absence. We are still dealing with an order in which recognition is granted only to some.”

-- ŻUREK IS CERTAINLY AN INCREASINGLY SERIOUS CHALLENGE FOR THE FRONT LINE OF CIVIC COALITION POLITICIANS. FOR RADOSŁAW SIKORSKI, FOR MARCIN KIERWIŃSKI. AND OF COURSE, FOR ROMAN GIERTYCH TOO - RAFAŁ WOŚ IN INTERIA: “In the meantime, he has ceased to be a minister solely at the prime minister's discretion. He already has his achievements and his position. He could no longer be quietly replaced. And he himself probably wouldn't be replaced so easily. Such a Żurek is, of course, an increasingly serious challenge for the front line of Civic Coalition politicians. For Radosław Sikorski, for Marcin Kierwiński. And, of course, for Roman Giertych too. He is starting to threaten the former in terms of future advancement and leadership after the era of King Donald ends (or is ended). Żurek also makes the popular 'Horse' unnecessary. He is even better suited as the leader of Silni Razem because he doesn't carry all the reputational baggage that Roman Giertych does.”

-- BRAUN WILL PUT KORWIN-MIKKI ON THE ELECTION LIST - TOMASZ NYCZKA IN GW: “Braun wants to repay a debt of gratitude. - This is my political and personal commitment. I witnessed how unfairly, but also foolishly, Mr. President Korwin, to whom we all owe something, was treated. Among the many goals I am setting for myself is the full political reactivation of President Korwin - Braun emphasizes.”
-- NYCZKA SUGGESTS THAT NATIONALISTS ARE NOT CLOSING THE DOOR ON BRAUN: “Konfederacja maintains correct relations with Braun, even praises him at times. Nationalists speak particularly positively of him. Konfederaci know that perhaps in some form – for example, during the Senate pact – they will have to cooperate with Braun's circle.”

-- THE PRIME MINISTER'S WORDS CARRY SIGNIFICANT WEIGHT IN GERMANY, TUSK SHOOK BERLIN, MAY FORCE GERMANY TO THINK - ESTERA FLIEGER IN RZ: “While the prime minister's words carry significant weight in Germany. Because he doesn't represent the right-wing, but a camp from which Germany did not expect a tough course. In this sense, Donald Tusk shook Berlin. Has he popped the bubble yet? The road from shame to a transfer is long. But every attempt to force Germany to think is worth its weight in gold. It's true that they didn't want to talk to PiS. But it's also true that PiS doesn't know how to do it. You have to play with the cards you have: today we have good ones, because we have a head of government who can force Germany to think.”
-- THE MOST COURAGEOUS MOVE BY PRIME MINISTER DONALD TUSK I HAVE SEEN IN RECENT YEARS. - FLIEGER FURTHER: “This was the least predictable and most courageous move by Prime Minister Donald Tusk that I have seen in recent years. Brilliant in its conception. But if it is not followed up with action, nothing will come of it. And it could even backfire on the player.”

-- RUMORS OF MORAWIECKI'S POLITICAL DEATH ARE EXAGGERATED. KACZYŃSKI NEEDS HIM - JACEK NIZINKIEWICZ IN RZ: “Getting rid of Morawiecki would strengthen Jaki and other factions within PiS. And Kaczyński cannot afford that. Morawiecki outside of PiS would be a defeat for Kaczyński, who anointed the former prime minister as the future head of government. The leader would suffer a reputational defeat, and the party would lose its balance.”
-- ONE CAN DISAGREE WITH THE FORMER PRIME MINISTER, BUT HE IS NOT IDEOLOGICALLY ZEALOUS, SUBSTANTIALLY EMPTY, AND INTELLECTUALLY COLORLESS, WHICH CAN BE SAID ABOUT MANY OF HIS COMPETITORS - NIZINKIEWICZ FURTHER IN RZ: “For international partners, Morawiecki represents PiS with a human face, knowledge, and experience, and a rich CV. One can disagree with the former prime minister, but he is not ideologically zealous, substantially empty, and intellectually colorless, which can be said about many of his competitors within PiS. Morawiecki has weathered all the blows from Donald Tusk's politicians and Jarosław Kaczyński's subordinates, Konfederacja, and those disappointed with his government. He has weathered them and wants to fight on. And he learns faster than Andrzej Duda.”

-- WE ARE WAITING FOR RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE STEERING COMMITTEE. THE KEY – AND CLEAR FROM THE OUTSET – IS THAT LEGISLATIVE CHANGES WILL BE NECESSARY. THIS, IN TURN, IS A POTENTIAL RISK FACTOR - WOJCIECH BALCZUN, HEAD OF MAPS, IN RESPONSE TO BARTŁOMIEJ GODUSŁAWSKI'S QUESTION ABOUT THE PEKAO AND PZU MERGER - IN BUSINESSINSIDER: “This week, I had a meeting on this matter with the presidents of PZU and Bank Pekao, as well as the Minister of Finance and Economy, Andrzej Domański, to discuss the status of the work. Final decisions have not yet been made. We are awaiting recommendations from the Steering Committee. The key – and clear from the outset – is that legislative changes will be necessary. This, in turn, is a potential risk factor that could affect the entire process. Intensive work is ongoing, and from what I see, the signals from the participants in this process – PZU and Bank Pekao – are good.”
-- BALCZUN ON HIS OWN REQUEST FOR OVER-STANDARD SECURITY SERVICE CHECKS: “Of course, I requested access to all categories of information, including NATO secrets. This took me a very long time because I had to – figuratively speaking – recall my entire life. In a sense, I created a precedent by submitting such a questionnaire – as there was no such requirement for a constitutional minister. As the coordinator of special services, Tomasz Siemoniak, rightly said, before someone becomes a constitutional minister, they are verified.”

-- SECRET TALKS BETWEEN GERMAN POLITICIANS, LOBBYISTS, AND REPRESENTATIVES OF THE RUSSIAN GOVERNMENT TOOK PLACE IN THE EMIRATES - BUSINESS INSIDER: “The first weekend of November brought another meeting between representatives of both countries – this time at the luxurious Bab al-Qasr hotel in Abu Dhabi. According to 'Die Zeit,' participants included former head of the Chancellery Ronald Pofalla, chairman of the German-Russian Forum Martin Hoffmann, and former SPD leader Matthias Platzek. The Russian side was represented by Viktor Zubkov, chairman of the Gazprom supervisory board, and Valery Fadeyev, Vladimir Putin's human rights ombudsman, who is banned from entering the European Union due to war propaganda.”
