-- PRIME MINISTER EWAS KOPACZ'S BIRTHDAY. -- ON THURSDAY, THE PRESIDENT WILL ACCEPT SWEAR-INS FROM NEW CONSTITUTIONAL TRIBUNAL JUDGES - 300POLITYKA: https://300polityka.pl/live/2019/12/02/w-czwartek-pad-odbierze-slubowania-od-nowych-sedziow-tk/ -- IF SOMEONE OTHER THAN KOSINIAK REACHES THE SECOND ROUND, 80% OF THE PSL ELECTORATE WILL SUPPORT ANDRZEJ DUDA - SAID MAREK SAWICKI - 300LIVE: https://300polityka.pl/live/2019/12/03 -- THE ŁÓDŹ DUO AGAINST SCHETYNA - Describes the regional GW: "Hanna Zdanowska is rallying party ranks and reaching an agreement with Cezary Grabarczyk. This is a show of force before the party leader elections, as well as a foundation for a new faction - within or outside PO. (...) As we learn from within PO, the conflict between Zdanowska and Grabarczyk has been extinguished for about a year, and the Minister of Infrastructure in Donald Tusk's first government is to hold a prominent place in Zdanowska's new plan." https://lodz.wyborcza.pl/lodz/7,35136,25460577,powstaje-tandem-przeciw-schetynie-zdanowska-w-lodzi-grabarczyk.html -- POLAND'S GOALS AT COP25 NEGOTIATIONS - PAWEŁ JABŁOŃSKI FOR 300GOSPODARKA: Increasing pressure on other countries (including China), defending nuclear energy, and securing as much funding as possible for the phase-out of coal are Poland's most important objectives in negotiations at COP25 and within the EU. http://300gospodarka.pl/news/2019/12/03/atom-presja-i-pieniadze-wiemy-jakie-sa-glowne-cele-polski-na-negocjacje-klimatyczne/ -- PERHAPS IT'S TIME FOR WOMEN WHO DO POLITICS DIFFERENTLY - MAŁGORZATA KIDAWA-BŁOŃSKA in conversation with wiadomo.co: "Effectiveness and the ability to inspire people do not necessarily have to be connected with charisma. I recently heard an opinion that Angela Merkel is not charismatic, yet she has been considered the most influential woman in the world for many years. Perhaps it is time for women who conduct politics differently." -- THE UNRELENTING HUNT AGAINST WOŚP BY PIS AND THE SO-CALLED PUBLIC TELEVISION HAS LED TO THE FACT THAT EVEN HELPING EACH OTHER DIVIDES US TODAY - KIDAWA further: "I want a presidency of hope. Hope for a better tomorrow for every Polish woman and every Polish man. I want a presidency that creates space for dialogue and invites participation in it. I would like a presidency that rebuilds the trust in public institutions, lost in recent years, but also trust from one person to another. We are sorely lacking this today. The only thing that has united Poles so far is WOŚP (Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity)." -- KIDAWA ON THE QUESTION OF SUPREMACY OVER THE ARMED FORCES: "I know why this question arises. Some people find it difficult to imagine a woman in this role. But yes, I see myself as the commander-in-chief who appreciates the competence and experience of the military, constantly cooperates with them, and builds consensus around Poland's security matters. I will certainly utilize the National Security Council, which the current president convened only once. It is an important advisory body for the president regarding Poland's internal and external security. Andrzej Duda did not defend the army from Antoni Macierewicz, whose methods he himself described as communist secret service operations. Macierewicz's legacy includes purges within the army, the dire state of the military aviation and navy, scandalous personnel decisions, and unfulfilled promises of military procurement. And this is not changing with the new Minister of Defense." -- KIDAWA ON WHEN THE PRESIDENT BROKE THE CONSTITUTION: "First and foremost, the president failed in his role as guardian of the constitution. The failure to swear in properly elected judges of the Constitutional Tribunal and the violation of the constitution were a precursor to the destruction of the rule of law in Poland, the collapse of institutions and trust in them. As well as the destruction of people who, because they adhere to law and honesty, are humiliated, degraded, and subjected to disciplinary proceedings." https://wiadomo.co/malgorzata-kidawa-blonska-chce-byc-prezydentem-nadziei/ -- KACZYŃSKI WOULD BE HAPPY IF EVERYTHING BURNED DOWN, I KNOW CERTAIN THINGS - AGATA BIELIK-ROBSON IN A VERY LOUD CONVERSATION WITH GRZEGORZ SROCZYŃSKI IN gazeta.pl: "Don't you understand what's happening here? We have apocalyptic figures in power! Now, after several years, the situation is even more difficult because the PiS government pretends to normalize things – Morawiecki with his smooth talk is for that – but in reality, it continues to operate according to the state of emergency model, turning everything upside down and playing with apocalyptic fire. This could end in social catastrophe, which, by the way, wouldn't bother Kaczyński at all. I suspect he would be happy if everything here burned down. You don't buy into this because you're like Woś. PiS seems normal to you because you simply - forgive me - don't understand much of the context that Peter Sloterdijk aptly calls psychosociological. Meanwhile, I have been observing the right side for a very long time, for a while as a participant observer. And I simply know certain things." -- THEY ARE MADMEN RETURNING LIKE ZOMBIES - BIELIK-ROBSON further: "That they are people with an apocalyptic temperament. We are ruled by figures driven by a colossal force of resentment; this is the only fuel for PiS. They are driven by hatred for the 'Salon' (cultural elite), for the Third Polish Republic, for the elites of the former Democratic Union, for the metaphorical Holoubek and Konwicki, because this 'Salon' excluded them in the 1990s during the infamous war at the top. It must be remembered that all this right-wing intelligentsia, which is now the backbone of the 'good change,' consists of people who were cast into hell in those years. Into absolute non-existence. They were excluded from the community and slandered as madmen. Lunatics. And now they are returning as zombies." -- ZANDBERG'S FOLLOWERS FROM THE BEDNARSKA SCHOOL ARE UPFOOTED FROM REAL POLAND - ABR further: "I consider this government pathological from its very inception, so pathological that I was ready to join the mantra 'let's save democracy,' which you scoff at. Because we have a zombie government in Poland. The worst thing that can happen in any horror movie is specters returning from the land of the dead. And I feel precisely this fear of this government, as if I were dreaming a horror story. Any deal-making with them, any attempt to normalize their rule, is an absolute mistake. And that's why I am so critical of Zandberg's left, because even if they have positive goals, they don't grasp the context, they are out of this world, uprooted from real Poland because they were educated at the school on Bednarska, meaning in the conditions of the Warsaw metropolis, which at times resembles the West, though it is not. " -- WE TRY WITH MICHALSKI TO BE PEOPLE FREE FROM RESENTMENT - BIELIK-ROBSON further: "So I understand why the right in Poland wants revenge, I understand for what, but I will never share this emotion because it is a destructive and barren emotion. Cezary and I, despite our past, do not support the PiS option because we try to be people free from resentment. We have both focused on ensuring that resentment does not develop in us, because it is like the equivalent of damnation in a modern atheistic world, a kind of hell. In this sense, I understand where PiS came from, I understand the madness of the PiS supporters, and I even pity them, but that is precisely why I could not join them." -- THE SALON WAS NOT SWEET TO THE KLD EITHER, SCHETYNA UNDERSTANDS THIS: "Poland has never had a strong liberal tradition, so after 1989, it began by breaking one totalitarianism with another kind of dictate. An intellectual dictate. Grzegorz Schetyna is only three years older than me and has also experienced the bitterness of resentment, because the 'Salon' was not exactly sweet towards the liberals from the KLD, so he perfectly understands where PiS came from and what drives Kaczyński. When Schetyna says that there is now a fight to the death, he truly believes it; moreover, read what he says in conversation with Cezary in 'Generational History.'" -- ZANDBERG IS A COLOSSAL ELECTORAL FRAUD - BIELIK-ROBSON further at Sroczyński's: "Unfortunately, I cannot explain this to my millennial students, who have some incomprehensible love for collectivism and socialism. The young left is very anti-capitalist, and you cannot be surprised that people like me harbor distrust towards their radical revolutionary ideas. 'We want democratic socialism,' I hear from them. But what is that, really? The term was used by the Eastern Bloc countries. That is why I distrust Zandberg and his young left. I consider it a colossal electoral fraud that they presented themselves as a nice, friendly Western social democracy, which, in my opinion, they themselves no longer believe in. The fact that their main enemy is the liberals, not PiS, attests to this." -- BIELIK-ROBSON ON THE YOUNG LEFT'S ATTITUDE TOWARDS POLAŃSKI: "They invest in culture wars, in which the left can be binary, firm, and principled to the extreme and to their heart's content. The fewer real ideas for fixing the system, the greater the principled stance in the sphere of culture wars, which is very unsettling due to its constant heightened state and 'moral vigilance.' The Polish public knows little about this yet. I read with amusement the comments under the article in 'Wyborcza' about how a group of students from the Łódź Film School protested a meeting with Roman Polański as a representative of 'rape culture.' All the commenters were convinced that it was some right-wing extremists of the Catholic puritanical stripe who organized this protest. But here you have it, the young left!" -- BIELIK DREAMS OF A GARDEN: "And please don't say that I'm the one who's agitated now. I have a natural calm. What I really dream of is tending to a garden and studying theology. (...) It's disheartening. This interview is my last journalistic piece. (We'll see - GS). A political testament. Truly." http://next.gazeta.pl/next/7,151003,25469353,bielik-robson-o-zandbergu-to-gigantyczne-oszustwo-wyborcze.html -- WITOLD MROZEK ON BIELIK-ROBSON AS THE TRUMP OF POLISH HUMANITIES - writes on FB: "No, this is not hate speech, it's more of a contribution. By joking about ABR, we are playing her game - because this once interesting philosopher, a rather poor publicist, is now primarily a brilliant political media animal. By playing the Moderate Intellectual, she is essentially the Trump of Polish humanities. She evokes affects and attracts attention, while continuing to play the Sensible Professor, which many fall for. And others - like me and you - fuel her popularity by joking about her ostentatiously thrown-out nonsense and encouraging various editors to commission more interviews with her because there will be CONTROVERSY. Like Korwin, like Korwin." -- MROZEK PUBLISHES A MEME WITH PAN KLEKS: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10218002967939518&set=a.1229015059252&type=3&theater -- TVN STAR AN ALLY OF DUDA - JACEK NIZINKIEWICZ IN RZ: "Hołownia will be a problem for Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and the PO candidate, i.e., candidates with similar profiles. For the current president, the journalist's candidacy is good news. The TVN star is unlikely to take the Catholic electorate away from Duda, even though opponents of PiS are counting on it. Hołownia may appeal to centrist and liberal voters. The PO candidate, the most dangerous for Duda, will fight for the same electorate as parts of the PSL, the Left, and now Hołownia. The fragmentation of votes could lead to Andrzej Duda's re-election in the first round. And this is good news for the current head of state." https://www.rp.pl/Wybory-prezydenckie-2010/312029900-Jacek-Nizinkiewicz-Gwiazda-TVN-sojusznikiem-Andrzeja-Dudy.html -- SUPREME AUDIT OFFICE OF COMPROMISE - ANDRZEJ STANKIEWICZ IN TYGODNIK: "It is difficult to assess what is sinking the PiS state more: whether it is how the head of the NIK was appointed, or how they are trying – so far unsuccessfully – to remove him. Just as Banaś's appointments to head the tax office, minister of finance, and head of NIK are a drastic example of the pathology of PiS's system of filling the most important positions, so the attempts to dismiss him only deepen this pathology." https://www.tygodnikpowszechny.pl/najwyzsza-izba-kompromitacji-161270 -- BARTOSZ GODUSŁAWSKI IN DGP ON THE BEHIND-THE-SCENES OF BANAŚ'S ALLEGED RESIGNATION: "According to DGP's findings, Elżbieta Witek expected the document to be drafted differently. In line with PiS politicians' intentions, based on Article 17 of the NIK Act, Banaś was to resign from his position, and according to Article 21(3), Vice-President Tadeusz Dziuba was to be appointed to act as president. And this second part is where everything fell apart. Our sources indicate that Banaś did not want to agree to this setup. The chance to close the weeks-long comings and goings was lost because Marshal Witek sent the original resignation back to... the sender. Later, PiS was ready to accept it, but Banaś changed his mind and kept the document - claims our source." https://wiadomosci.dziennik.pl/polityka/artykuly/614355,banas-marszalek-sejmu-rezygnacja-prezesa-nik.html -- ZUZANNA DĄBROWSKA POSITS THE THESIS IN RZ ABOUT ZIOBRO'S STRENGTHENING: "Why did the president of the District Court in Olsztyn suspend Judge Juszczyszyn from performing all official duties in the district and regional court with immediate effect? Because intensifying the dispute with judges builds the career of the Minister of Justice. Thanks to protests under the courts, he demonstrates his political usefulness, becomes the savior of the ruling right, and the sheriff fighting liberal miasmas. In a word – he is growing." https://www.rp.pl/Polityka/312029903-Zuzanna-Dabrowska-Jak-rosnie-Zbigniew-Ziobro.html -- RZ ON THE FRONT PAGE OF RZ ABOUT THE STOCK MARKET'S REACTION TO KRUPIŃSKI'S DEPARTURE: "The departure of Michał Krupiński from the position of CEO of Bank Pekao SA would reduce the company's valuation by PLN 511 million - estimated experts from the consulting firm Martis Consulting in the latest edition of the report 'Valuation of Polish Managers,' which 'Rzeczpospolita' describes as the first. The value of Pekao's CEO calculated in the report (a few days before his departure was announced) was verified by the declining stock prices of the bank on Monday, after a communication about the sudden resignation of the CEO and two board members reached the market on Friday afternoon. Shortly after the session began, Pekao SA shares fell by 2%, or approximately PLN 540 million. At the end of the day, the company's value decreased by over a billion as its shares fell by 4.8%." https://archiwum.rp.pl/artykul/1417559-Rosnie-efekt-prezesa.html -- MAREK LUSZTYN, THE NEW CEO OF PEKAO, ON THE BANK'S SITUATION AFTER THE CHANGE - IN A TRANSMITTED COMMUNICATION: "Although Pekao expects an economic slowdown in the coming months, which may slightly increase the bank's cost of risk, it will not exceed the 50 basis points set in the strategy for 2020. The buffer for the economic slowdown will be the continuation of solid private consumption growth, driven by further wage increases and historically low unemployment. – The improvement in household incomes will contribute to maintaining low retail risk costs. After three quarters of 2019, total risk costs were at the level of 41 bp. Pekao has a strong position in the corporate market, where it will continue to actively support business investments." -- BIRTHDAYS: Ewa Kopacz, Bogusław Sonik, Małgorzata Sadurska, Jacek Gądek, Jakub Rutnicki.
