-- TIMMERMANS DOES NOT ATTEND DEBATES ON THE RULE OF LAW WHEN THEY CONCERN COUNTRIES RULED BY THE LEFT - ANNA SŁOJEWSKA IN RZ: “The debate on Slovakia and Malta took place on Monday evening, and the vote on Thursday. The absence of Frans Timmermans, the Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for the rule of law, during the debate was significant. He is always eager to participate in parliamentary debates and hearings concerning Poland and Hungary, but he did not appear when the criticism concerned Slovakia and Malta. In Hungary, a party belonging to the EPP faction governs, PiS belongs to the conservatives, while socialists govern in Slovakia and Malta. And it is precisely them that Timmermans represents as a candidate for the President of the EC and the main face of the European Parliament elections in May.” https://www.rp.pl/Unia-Europejska/190329276-W-PE-o-praworzadnosci-bez-Timmermansa.html&template=restricted
-- DO RZECZY ON 80% DISCOUNT ON BUS ADVERTISEMENTS FOR PO AND SLD CANDIDATES IN WARSAW: “Advertisements on public transport buses are one of the most popular and attractive forms of marketing in every city. In Warsaw, they are also extremely cheap. At least, if you are running in local government elections on an opposition ticket. According to documents we have obtained, some Civic Coalition candidates (PO and Nowoczesna) paid only 20% of the value for their advertisements. Discounts on advertising are normal. However, here we are dealing with a municipal company, and PO candidates in a city governed by PO.” https://dorzeczy.pl/kraj/98250/80-proc-znizki-dla-kandydatow-po-przed-wyborami-w-rzadzonej-przez-po-stolicy.html

-- NO CONSISTENT PLAN VISIBLE IN PIS - DR JAROSŁAW FLIS for wPolityce: “Seeing the level of confusion in PiS, which has not diminished since the local government elections, one can assume that things are still brewing there. Various ideas, various strategies for reacting to events and crises keep emerging. Observing all this from Krakow, from a distance, it does not form a clear picture. As a result of this brewing, various things surface. No consistent plan is visible in PiS.”
-- FLIS ON HIGHER TURNOUT, MOBILIZATION, AND ELECTIONS ON A TRADING SUNDAY: “There is no chance of reaching a turnout of 50 percent. The turnout will certainly be lower than in the parliamentary elections. However, it is clearly visible that the phenomenon that emerged in the local government elections may have further consequences. For the past three years, PiS has been heating up tensions in the country rather than defusing them. This has also translated into the fact that anti-PiS voters are mobilized and will use the elections as a test of strength. However, opposition voters are not as mobilized as before the local government elections. PiS also knows how to mobilize its supporters. The ruling party received more votes in the 2018 local government elections than four years earlier. It mobilized new voters. But in Poland, mobilization against the ruling party is usually easier than mobilization for the ruling party. We can expect the turnout to increase compared to previous European elections. It will certainly not increase to the level of parliamentary elections. However, it may exceed 30 percent. Then we will see what the consequences and effects will be. There is still a lot of time until the elections, many things will happen, and they may decide whether mobilization will occur. The fact that May 26th is a trading Sunday may also influence the voter turnout. Local government elections fell on a non-trading Sunday.” https://wpolityce.pl/polityka/440177-nasz-wywiad-dr-habflis-wybory-beda-dla-anty-pis-proba-sil
-- 90% PROBABILITY OF RECONSTRUCTION BEFORE THE ELECTIONS - PIOTR ZAREMBA QUOTES A PIS POLITICIAN: “Jarosław Kaczyński has decided with 90 percent certainty to reconstruct the government before the elections, says an important PiS politician. Hamletizing, as in the case of replacing Beata Szydło with Mateusz Morawiecki, cannot last too long if it is to influence the election campaign. And the PiS leader is increasingly provoked by the barrage of troubles.”
-- CZERWIŃSKA? LET'S CUT OFF HER HEAD - ZAREMBA CONTINUES: “Finance Minister Teresa Czerwińska, who raised the issue of the budget feasibility of 'Kaczyński's Five,' turned out to be the messenger of bad news in the government, so she will likely meet a similar fate. In her first public appearance in a long time, she called the rumors about her resignation that have been circulating for some time 'exaggerated,' but she also warned that we have passed the peak of the economic cycle. And again - less and less is said about government generosity, more and more about the deficit. So in response - let's cut off her head. Who would want to be her successor in such circumstances, especially just before the elections?”
-- CZAPUTOWICZ A CANDIDATE FOR DEPARTURE - ZAREMBA CONTINUES: “The candidate for departure is the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jacek Czaputowicz, who is blamed for the earlier crisis in relations with Israel (or rather, excessive submissiveness to Israel). Jacek Saryusz-Wolski is mentioned as his successor, which would be surprising. Would an ambitious politician who recently left Civic Platform renounce his five-year mandate as a Member of the European Parliament for an uncertain position for a few months? Perhaps he truly believes he will leave his mark on foreign policy? Or maybe someone else will appear at the last moment?”
-- KACZYŃSKI WILL NOT ALLOW MORAWIECKI SUCH AUTONOMY - ZAREMBA ON MON: “There are suggestions circulating that Morawiecki will replace Mariusz Błaszczak with Michał Dworczyk at the Ministry of National Defence, which he has wanted for a long time. Or that he will get rid of the eternal candidate for resignation, the Minister of Energy Krzysztof Tchórzewski. But this is unlikely. Firstly, such changes just before the parliamentary elections do not make much sense. And secondly, Kaczyński probably will not allow Morawiecki such autonomy.” https://polskatimes.pl/piotr-zaremba-jaroslaw-kaczynski-na-90-proc-chce-rekonstrukcji-rzadu-przed-wyborami/ar/14005955
-- SELF-DESTRUCTIVE TENDENCY - PLATFORMA HAS ABANDONED ITS ELECTORATE - LUDWIK DORN in GW: “The self-destructive tendency in PO is astonishing – not only is it clearly abandoning its right-wing voters, but it is trying to strengthen itself in the anti-clerical and left-wing segment, where it has credible competition from Robert Biedroń's Spring. Dr. Jarosław Flis rightly noted that PO has so far suffered the greatest losses among conservative urban voters. These losses are likely to increase significantly.”
-- POLITICAL STRUGGLE WITH THE RAINBOW COALITION MAY BRING SUCCESS TO PIS - DORN CONTINUES IN GW: “By defining the Civic Coalition as a 'rainbow coalition,' PiS is waging a political struggle that may bring it success. Everything depends on whether the right-wing, urban, non-PiS voter abandoned by PO will shift their votes to the PSL within this coalition and whether the PSL decides to engage in an audibly public intra-coalition polemic with its other members. The aforementioned Jarosław Flis aptly observed that the PSL is currently capable of formulating an offer 'both for a retired major of the Polish People's Army and for a Krakow conservative.' We will see if the PSL creates such an offer, and if it creates it, whether the urban voter will notice it.” http://wyborcza.pl/7,75968,24595133,platforma-lowi-w-plytkiej-wodzie-walczy-o-tego-samego-wyborce.html
-- HOW TO BECOME A "10 PERCENT PARTY" AND SURVIVE AGNIESZKA WIŚNIEWSKA - Editor-in-Chief of KrytykaPolityczna.pl: “In my opinion, Spring is aware that this task lies before them. Robert Biedroń was a Member of Parliament elected from the Palikot Movement's list, and Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus is a Member of Parliament elected from the Nowoczesna list. Both are now running for the EP on Spring's joint list in the Warsaw constituency. Both saw perfectly well what destroyed their former formations and - let's hope - will draw conclusions from this knowledge. It is good for the political scene when new actors appear on it. It is good for new actors if they can learn from the mistakes of their predecessors and draw conclusions from them. Spring - after a good debut - must now face this task.” https://krytykapolityczna.pl/felietony/agnieszka-wisniewska/wiosna-10-proc/
-- JAKUB MAJMUREK ON THE PATHOLOGICAL TVP: “What is happening at TVP must be called by one word: pathology. The subordination of the broadcast to one party is pathological, the scale of distorted attacks on the opposition is pathological, and it is pathological that the decision to allocate or not allocate over a billion zlotys to the public broadcaster depends on how the president is presented in its satirical programs. If power does not change after the elections, if this pathology lasts for another four years, there will be nothing left to salvage from public television. Public opinion will conclude that media cannot be left to politicians, because they will always turn them into tools of blunt propaganda. Jacek Kurski will most likely remain at TVP for some time – the question is whether TVP will survive his rule.” https://www.newsweek.pl/opinie/telewizja-publiczna-znalazla-sie-w-centrum-wewnetrznej-walki-w-pis/ylfrydn
-- MAREK BELKA ON GREECE LIGHT - in conversation with Magda Gałczyńska on Onet: “I wouldn't go that far, but two things are very probable. We may fall into an excessive deficit procedure, but that is not the greatest misfortune. If we are not lucky, and the global economic situation changes fundamentally for the worse, then we could have problems of the 'Greece light' type, i.e., difficulties in financing the state's borrowing needs.”
-- 500 PLUS FOR THE UNEMPLOYED IN KIND - BELKA TELLS GAŁCZYŃSKA: “However, it would be worth considering whether to somehow link 500 plus with professional activity. They would still receive 500 plus, but rather in kind. Precisely to encourage them to take up some work.” https://wiadomosci.onet.pl/tylko-w-onecie/marek-belka-grozi-nam-grecja-light/7spsycd
