-- FINANCE MINISTER DISTANCES HERSELF FROM PIS PROMISES - DGP (Osiecki, Godusławski, Chądzyński): "The head of the finance ministry, Teresa Czerwińska, has avoided commenting on the new package of election promises announced by PiS. Our sources indicate that she views the program of 500+ for the first child or the 13th pension with great distance. We have also established that the funding sources for these plans were prepared outside of Czerwińska's ministry, and she does not endorse them.

-- NO ONE WARNED CZERWIŃSKA - DGP CONTINUES: "Minister Czerwińska learned about the conference the day before; no one informed her so she could verify the figures presented or the funding sources for the promises," says our informant from government circles. They point out that although information had been appearing in the media for a week about a presentation of the implementation schedule for PiS's plans after Tuesday's government meeting, what was to be announced was only revealed at the last moment."

-- THE FAR-RIGHT WILL FEED ON THE VOTES OF KUKIZ AND PIS - JACEK NIZINKIEWICZ IN RZ: "The double-digit support for Braun, who has nothing to do with Gdańsk, is a result that cannot be ignored. Especially since Płażyński did not support Braun, and PiS warned against voting for him. For the growing Confederation, Braun's result is a success and a tailwind for the elections. It is hard to imagine that a conglomerate of far-right individuals would take votes from the European Coalition or Robert Biedroń's Spring. The new entity will feed on the electorate of PiS and Kukiz'15. Paweł Kukiz's party maintains surprisingly stable poll support despite low political activity, but it will not win on slogans of rebellion with the Confederation."

-- THE BEGINNING OF THE RADICALS' MARCH FOR PIS VOTERS - NIZINKIEWICZ'S CONCLUSION: "The victory of PiS or the European Coalition will be decided by a mere few percent. And this crucial few percent to the European Parliament and the Sejm could be taken away from the ruling party by the Confederation. Grzegorz Braun's success in Gdańsk could simply be the beginning of the radicals' march for PiS voters."

-- GW ON JAKI'S PLACE ON EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT LISTS - as Agata Kondzińska writes: "- 99 percent sure, Jaki will get third place on the list in the Małopolska-Świętokrzyskie constituency. Although we will be 100 percent sure only after the lists are registered," one politician from the ruling camp tells us."

-- THEY DIDN'T WANT GOSIEWSKA IN PIS - KONDZIŃSKA CONTINUES: "Unofficially, people in PiS say that Beata Gosiewska's fate was sealed long ago. - She is demanding, she hasn't bonded with us, she behaves as if we are not one team - PiS politicians told us a year ago."

-- ZUZANNA DĄBROWSKA ON HOW WARSAW COURT RECOGNIZED THE RIGHT TO BLOCK LEGAL DEMONSTRATIONS DAMAGING TO DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES - she writes in RZ: "And although the far-right march was indeed legal, and the blockaders did not report their gathering to the authorities, Judge Łukasz Biliński ruled that the handful of anti-fascists were right, not the hundreds of nationalists marching under the banners of 'Poland for Poles'. Based on the analysis of press interviews with leaders and written programs and declarations, directly referencing fascist ideology and the grim practice of these organizations' operations since the late 1920s, the judge concluded that the legal demonstration was acting against democracy, and the small blockade was defending it. He also recalled the ideological declaration of ONR, which to this day promotes 'maintaining ethnic homogeneity'. https://www.rp.pl/Spoleczenstwo/190309566-Kary-za-rasizm-Argumenty-ze-stolicy-przekonaja-sedziow.html&template=restricted

-- THE IPN'S BALANCE SHEET IS POSITIVE - ANTONI DUDEK IN NOWA KONFEDERACJA: "I am against the liquidation of the IPN; I think we need it. However, I believe that the changes that occurred after 2016 did not benefit it. At the same time, it should be noted that I am not the right person to discuss this, as I am a party to this dispute as the former chairman of the IPN council, whose term was shortened precisely in 2016. Therefore, I do not wish to elaborate on the future of the IPN; I only want to say that an institution that will remind Poles of the times of foreign-imposed dictatorship is needed in Poland. There must be a state institution commemorating the victims of dictatorship. It is necessary for the identity of every democratic state with such a past. However, its internal organization, competencies, budget – all of this can and will likely undergo changes. To summarize: IPN, definitely yes, but in its current form – let the future rulers of Poland decide."

-- RZECZPOSPOLITA QUESTIONS THE CREDIBILITY OF THE WITNESS IN THE CASE OF FATHER JANKOWSKI, A CIVIC PLATFORM MP AGREES - as Wiktor Ferfecki writes: "Materials from the investigation obtained by 'Rzeczpospolita' show a lack of credibility of the alleged victim of the priest. (...) Jerzy Borowczak, a former friend of the priest and a Civic Platform MP, however, claims that the entire case is based on weak evidence. In his opinion, the testimony of other victims may also raise doubts. When we were collecting funds for the monument, no one even sent an anonymous letter suggesting to hold back because the matter was unclear. People who truly knew the priest well do not speak of pedophilia. If they had even blinked an eye, I would have dismantled the monument first - he assures."

-- ON THE FRONT PAGE OF GW: HOW KACZYŃSKI SAVED ON TOWER TAX: "Srebrna, a company associated with PiS, which wanted to build a skyscraper for PLN 1.3 billion, was supposed to derive 99.9% of its profits from the investment. However, it would bear zero responsibility in case of failure. We are revealing documents prepared by lawyers under the supervision of Jarosław Kaczyński."

-- THE TAPES WERE JUST A DAMP SQUIB AFTER ALL - JACEK KARNOWSKI: "In any case, compared to expectations, it was just a damp squib. The opposition is left with the hope that it was at least one of those stones that will bring down the dinosaur, but we won't know that for a very long time. In summary: the Birgfellner tapes affair showed that even the powerful media of the Third Polish Republic are no longer able to create a major scandal without much to go on. The media system now has antibodies that block such hoaxes. The era of impunity, the era of effective smear campaigns at the snap of a finger is over. And this - i.e., pluralism, still imperfect, still with the other side's advantage, but existing nonetheless - is probably what Czerska worries about the most."

-- A SLIGHT LEAD FOR PIS, KUKIZ ON THE VERGE, BUT THIS IS IBRIS... - FAKT: "If the European Parliament elections were held now, United Right would win them by a narrow margin with 39.7% support. Both formations would have 23 seats each. And behind them... a chasm! Robert Biedroń's Spring is third on the podium with only 6.2% support and three seats. The remaining three MEPs (we will now have a total of 52, one more than before) would come from the Kukiz'15 committee (5.1%). And all this with a declared turnout of 46.9%."

-- IN THE POLSKA PO PIS SERIES - KATARZYNA SADŁO ON WHAT TO DO ABOUT NGOS: "What about the non-governmental sector after PiS? I am pessimistic. I know of no example where a subsequent government has taken a step back and voluntarily relinquished what their predecessors left behind, if only they could use it for their own political advantage. The monastery lasts longer than the prior, bad standards are much easier to adopt than to change, especially if there is no motivation to change them, and adoption can always be justified by the immortal and discussion-ending argument 'but they did the same thing'.

-- SADŁO WRITES ABOUT HARMFUL LABELS: "It was and is in PiS's interest to permanently divide the non-governmental sector into 'patriotic' and 'leftist' organizations, because then they can justify favoring (including financially) one and discriminating against (often even destroying) the other. I fear that the division of the non-governmental sector, as defined by PiS, will be more lasting than its power, because even the opposition behaves similarly today, eagerly adopting PiS's style of destroying initiatives and organizations through slander, which they – most often exaggeratedly – consider 'theirs'. Sometimes there are such absurd situations as the symmetrical labeling of the respectable Stocznia Foundation as 'Komorowski's daughter's foundation' by pro-government media and 'Gliński's wife's foundation' by anti-government media, even though neither label is true. This is what the politics of appropriation and exclusion looks like."
