-- WIRTUALNE MEDIA ON ZIEMIEC'S DEPARTURE FROM WIADOMOŚCI: “Krzysztof Ziemiec has resigned from hosting the main broadcast of 'Wiadomości'; Edyta Lewandowska is to replace him, as portal Wirtualnemedia.pl has learned unofficially. Ziemiec will continue to host programs on TVP Info.” https://www.wirtualnemedia.pl/artykul/krzysztof-ziemiec-odszedl-z-wiadomosci-zastapi-go-edyta-lewandowska

-- KACZYŃSKI COULD DONATE TO A MASS FOR THE CREATION OF A UNITED OPPOSITION PROJECT - DR. JAROSŁAW FLIS IN DGP: “Kaczyński, hearing these words, could donate to a mass for the creation of a United Opposition project. Such a project is an additional bonus for his party. One must imagine, for example, the technical implications of having the leader of SLD, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, on the lists of a broad coalition. Surely he won't be leaving television studios where he would be promoting his own formation's ideas. Can you imagine the reaction of a conservative PO voter to such a practice?”

-- “FORMER OFFICIALS” ARE MORE OF A BURDEN - MARCIN FIJOŁEK: “Hopes based on the thesis that the support of former prime ministers, former ministers, or former presidents will add new, fresh, and great dynamism to a political project are simply illusory. We've been through this before with President Bronisław Komorowski, who, desperately fighting for support, involved Aleksander Kwaśniewski in his campaign. 'Former officials' – even if they don't leave television studios – are a significant burden in the political reality of AD 2019, something Robert Biedroń senses when mocking Schetyna's conference.”

-- PSL'S SKEPTICISM IS NOT SURPRISING - FIJOŁEK CONTINUES: “I am not surprised by Marek Sawicki's statement from the PSL, who is appealing to his fellow agrarian colleagues to run on their own. These negotiations between PO and PSL are symptomatic: as heard in the corridors, the last talks collapsed because the agrarian party wanted to run for the European Parliament under the banner of the European People's Party, and Platforma feared the latter part, which could have strengthened the PSL. It's a lose-lose situation.” https://wpolityce.pl/m/polityka/432111-polityczny-mur-przed-schetyna-tu-las-voulu-george-dandin

-- A DIPLOMAT ON CZAPUTOWICZ IN BARTOSZ T. WIELIŃSKI'S ARTICLE IN GW: “– We complained about Anna Fotyga [Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2006-07, during the first PiS government]. But Kaczyński at least listened to her. Czaputowicz doesn't count. We have never had such a weak Minister of Foreign Affairs as now – this is another voice of a Polish diplomat.”

-- AFTER A YEAR OF CZAPUTOWICZ, RELATIONS WITH THE EU ARE WORSE THAN BEFORE - AN UNSUCCESSFUL EXPERIMENT - WIELIŃSKI CONTINUES: “During the first meeting, Frans Timmermans smiled, the new Foreign Minister smiled. But after more than a year since Jacek Czaputowicz took office, Poland's relations with the European Union are worse than they were then.” http://wyborcza.pl/magazyn/7,124059,24422060,jacek-czaputowicz-nieudany-eksperyment-kaczynskiego.html

-- BIEDROŃ'S MOVEMENT OFFERS A GREATER GUARANTEE OF REMOVING PIS FROM POWER - WANDA NOWICKA IN GW: “That it will create a serious and stable political force based on pro-equality and pro-social values. I do not share the view that either the entire opposition unites or PiS will continue to rule. On the contrary. I believe that Biedroń's movement, by broadening its offer to voters, provides greater chances not only to enter Parliament but, above all, to remove PiS from power. Let the opposition unite and work on itself like Biedroń, to more effectively convince voters, rather than undermining Biedroń. If the coalition loses, it will not be Biedroń's fault, but its own powerlessness. Especially since Biedroń will be useful after the elections to form a government, which will be a real way to take power away from PiS, which lacks coalition capacity, especially now that Kukiz's social support is clearly weakening. Biedroń, by joining a coalition after the elections, could make politics finally more progressive. This will not happen, however, if Biedroń were to form alliances now.” http://wyborcza.pl/7,75968,24421344,szesc-powodow-dla-ktorych-popieram-biedronia.html

-- SCHETYNA IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM FOR THE OPPOSITION, NOT BIEDROŃ - MARCIN ANASZEWICZ IN CONVERSATION WITH PIOTR WITWICKI IN RZ: “Grzegorz Schetyna is the biggest problem for the opposition today, although people are trying to convince them that Robert Biedroń is the problem. It is, by the way, a paradox that in a democratic country, where pluralism should be the norm, someone is criticized for founding a new formation. Instead of cheering on new political parties, their emergence is criticized. This only shows how much politicians fail to understand what modern democracy is about.”

-- WE WILL START WITH MARITAL EQUALITY - ANASZEWICZ CONTINUES: “We will start with a law ensuring marital equality. The law will guarantee same-sex couples the right to marry.” https://www.rp.pl/Plus-Minus/301319954-Marcin-Anaszewicz-Najwiekszym-problemem-opozycji-jest-Schetyna.html&cid=44&template=restricted

-- PIOTR PACEWICZ IN GW ON BIEDROŃ'S CHARISMA: “First: charisma. He is authentic, has personal charm and a relaxed demeanor, which he skillfully uses. For years, he has consistently built his image as a likeable person, seeking agreement. These qualities in an era of rigid politicians like Mateusz Morawiecki's stiff lips are worth their weight in gold.” http://wyborcza.pl/magazyn/7,124059,24421778,robert-biedron-superstar-jaki-program-naprawde-kryje-sie-za.html

-- HE SECURES CULTURAL FUNDING MORE EFFICIENTLY THAN HIS SMOOTH PREDECESSORS - PIOTR ZAREMBA IN RZ: “Piotr Gliński has a professorial demeanor, not all of his statements were diplomatic. Nevertheless, after these three years, he deserves a more nuanced assessment than the caricatures he is subjected to. Presented as a dark fanatic, this man certainly takes care of cultural funding more efficiently than his smooth predecessors. He has provided filmmakers with the so-called incentive system, which could prove to be a development engine for this most expensive field of art. For all artists, he has secured a more favorable tax system. Wonderful things are happening in his ministry, such as the establishment of the Pilecki Institute, which, under the wing of Deputy Minister Magdalena Gawin, has engaged in real, not declarative, historical policy. A politician should have nerves of steel, but is that truly the most important test of his usefulness for the public good?”

-- HE WAS THE ONE WHO OVERTURNED THE ABSURD BLOCKING OF “IDA” BY TVP - ZAREMBA CONTINUES: “It was he who, through public statements, led to the lifting of the absurd blocking of the film 'Ida' on TVP. Then it was his decision to support Pawlikowski's new film. It is he who tries to support Jewish culture. His statement that it is part of Polish heritage was uncouthly attacked online by right-wing radicals, for whom Gliński is a liberal and a cosmopolitan.” https://www.rp.pl/Plus-Minus/301319951-Twarze-i-maski-Piotra-Glinskiego.html&template=restricted

-- ON THE SOFT HOMOPHOBIA IN KRASNODĘBSKI'S STATEMENT - PIOTR PACEWICZ IN OKO: “Krasnodębski's statement contains soft homophobia. The PiS politician does not say that homosexuality as such is inappropriate in politics, but believes that it will disqualify Biedroń in the eyes of voters. This may be an expression of projection, attributing one's own prejudices to others.” https://oko.press/biedron-nie-ma-szans-bo-gej-a-wiekszosc-kocha-jak-niesiolowski-seksualny-bzik-krasnodebskiego/

-- ROMAN IMIELSKI IN GW ON WHETHER ALL CHANGES IN THE STATE SERVED SREBRNA - writes in GW:“This is a daring journalistic thesis. But what if one of the main goals of PiS governments is simply real estate development? The construction of a 190-meter skyscraper – a monument to the Kaczyński brothers – which would be a financial perpetuum mobile for PiS?” http://wyborcza.pl/7,75398,24422229,panstwo-szyte-pod-srebrna-sprobujmy-sobie-wyobrazic-ze-pis.html

-- ŁUKASZ WARZECHA IN WP SARCASTICALLY ABOUT THE POLISH DEBATE: “What will the next week bring? Some sensational hypothesis was supposed to appear here, a projection of another scandal, but – please forgive me: in the face of the image of MP Niesiołowski amusing himself with courtesans over Breton beans, as well as Ewa Kopacz throwing stones at dinosaurs and the coordinator minister supposedly kissing a dog – my imagination surrenders. Come up with something yourselves. There will be no shortage of topics.” https://opinie.wp.pl/warzecha-polska-polityka-ja-cie-nie-moge-komu-posluzy-aferalny-chaos-opinia-6344860854057089a

-- PROF. DUDEK IN RZ ON KACZYŃSKI BEING THE ONLY ONE TO EFFICIENTLY MANAGE WHAT ALL POLITICAL ENVIRONMENTS RECEIVED FROM THE RSW ESTATE: “Besides Srebrna, what other well-known bypasses are there? Srebrna is an exception. Other parties probably couldn't create a similar mechanism. For example, SLD and PSL lost their assets. The symbol of PSL's financial power was the office building in Warsaw at Grzybowska Street, which was demolished long ago. But before it was demolished, PSL sold it. And the money from this sale went to cover debts after the State Electoral Commission imposed a draconian penalty of 9.5 million PLN plus interest on the party in 2009 for errors in its financial report. The symbol of SLD's power was the building at Rozbrat Street in Warsaw, which the party also had to get rid of. Both therefore lost their assets.” http://www.zw.com.pl/artykul/672720-Kaczynski-najbardziej-sprytny.html

-- BOGDAN BORUSEWICZ RECALLS AN ANECDOTE WITH JERZY BUZEK - in conversation with Eliza Olczyk in RZ: “Was Solidarity satisfied with the outcome of its actions? After the Suchocka government was dismissed, a congress of Solidarity took place, I think in Zielona Góra. It was chaired by Jerzy Buzek. I wanted to speak, but Krzaklewski got scared and told Buzek not to let me speak. There were several microphones in the hall. I stood at one of them for 27 minutes with my hand raised, and Buzek pretended not to see me. People from the hall shouted: 'But Bogdan is standing at the microphone,' but Buzek never gave me the floor. He apologized to me many times later, but what good was that to me if I couldn't say what I wanted then?”

-- BOGDAN BORUSEWICZ ON LECH KACZYŃSKI: “But these contacts with Lech Kaczyński were always maintained somehow. When we were already in conflict, at a rally before the Gdańsk Shipyard, when Father Rydzyk's supporters started whistling and booing me, the President said: 'Don't whistle, because thanks to this man, you have a free Poland.' He managed to do that, even though we were on opposite sides of the barricade.” https://www.rp.pl/Plus-Minus/301319923-Bogdan-Borusewicz-Marszalek-Senatu-czyli-pierwsza-i-ostatnia-decuzja-PO-PiS.html&cid=44&template=restricted
