-- PRIME MINISTER ON THE COVER OF JERUSALEM POST. -- MAGIEROWSKI ON TWITTER ABOUT MORAWIECKI'S INTERVIEW: "Good mood from the morning :-) (despite the rainy Tel Aviv). Cover + four pages of interview with the Prime Minister in the weekend magazine of The Jerusalem Post 'Our Polish Ally'. https://twitter.com/mmagierowski/status/1070943095326420992 -- PRIME MINISTER ON POLAND AS ONE OF THE SAFEST PLACES FOR JEWS: "Contemporary Poland is one of the safest and most friendly places for Jews in Europe. The report by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights has just shown a very disturbing trend – antisemitic incidents are increasing almost everywhere. One of the few places where it is decreasing is Poland. Everywhere in Europe, synagogues are protected by heavily armed police or even by the armed forces. In Poland, there is no such need. We, of course, condemn all hatred towards Jews and prosecute it with full force – but I am happy to say that incidents of such hatred are marginal and do not represent the views of our nation." https://wiadomosci.dziennik.pl/polityka/artykuly/586794,morawiecki-zydzi-polska-wywiad-jerusalem-post-premier.html

-- WHY WOMEN SHOULD ALSO BE INVITED TO DEBATES - KAJA PUTO in Krytyka: “As a result, we have many male experts on everything in the media who don't know anything but are happy to express their opinions. And many women who do not go to the media (nor even provide written commentary), even though their commentary based on competence and experience would be extremely valuable. Not because they don't want to, prefer to play with their children at that time, or prefer to keep their knowledge to themselves. But because they underestimate it. And the lack of women in public debate does not facilitate this appreciation. (...) I wish all women to think less often about why they were invited. And for men – to think more often. And also to appreciate their freedom of choice regarding participation in any debate. I am sure it will serve public debate better than scaring with incompetent hysterics seeking the spotlight”. http://krytykapolityczna.pl/felietony/kaja-puto/dlaczego-do-debat-nalezy-zapraszac-tez-kobiety/

-- PIS SUBMITS A DRAFT ON MANAGING BREAKS IN REGIONAL ASSEMBLIES, GOWIN ON COURTS - 300LIVE: https://300polityka.pl/live/2018/12/06

-- JOANNA SCHEURING-WIELGUS ON THE FACT THAT FR. JANKOWSKI'S MONUMENT SHOULD DISAPPEAR - she says to GW Tricity: “The victims of the priest are still alive, who may be in Gdańsk and may avoid this street and this square so as not to look at their tormentor. Even if there remained one person who is his victim, this monument should disappear.”

-- SCHEURING-WIELGUS STRONGLY ON ADAMOWICZ: “The Mayor of Gdańsk. Unfortunately, he lacks the courage to do it quickly and categorically. Perhaps because he was an altar boy for Fr. Jankowski. If he doesn't do it, people won't forget him.” http://trojmiasto.wyborcza.pl/trojmiasto/7,35612,24249946,scheuring-wielgus-adamowicz-powinien-usunac-pomnik-ks-jankowskiego.html

-- PIOTR SKWIECIŃSKI ON AN UPLIFTING VERDICT: “Ms. Judge Klawonn has obvious anti-PiS political views. She manifested them recently with a famous t-shirt, and during the hearing and the justification of the verdict, these views could be easily sensed. She is not the type of transparent judge, and I don't really like that. But in issuing the verdict, in its essential part, she managed, at least subjectively, to rise above these views and her own opinion of the parties. Despite the fact that she must have been aware of the described political significance of the verdict she was issuing, which influences reality in a way and direction that she herself could not have liked. This is important and in some regard uplifting”. https://wpolityce.pl/polityka/424471-wyrok-ktory-podnosi-na-duchu

-- UNITED OPPOSITION WAS SUPPOSED TO BE, BUT WE HAVE CONSUMED OPPOSITION - MONIKA OLEJNIK in GW: “There was supposed to be a united opposition heading for victory in the European Parliament elections, but so far, we have consumed opposition.”

-- KACZYŃSKI COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER ST. NICHOLAS' DAY GIFT - OLEJNIK CONTINUES: “Grzegorz Schetyna decided to destroy Nowoczesna. Seven MPs from Katarzyna Lubnauer's party joined his club, thereby turning Nowoczesna into a mere circle. As an opposition, they lose the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm. President Jarosław Kaczyński couldn't have received a better St. Nicholas' Day gift.”

-- INSTEAD OF ELECTRICITY AND SMOG, THE OPPOSITION IS ENGAGED IN ITSELF AS USUAL - OLEJNIK CONTINUES: “But the opposition, instead of addressing the lack of a clear and coherent concept from the ruling camp on this matter, instead of addressing the smog and the deaths of thousands of people because of it, is engaged – as usual – in itself. The opposition also gets the electricity price increases on a silver platter, which will lead to an increase in the prices of food products, and should be raising the alarm. And what is it doing? Grzegorz Schetyna is fulfilling himself as the head of a large club under the guise of Civic Coalition – Civic Platform.” http://wyborcza.pl/7,75968,24251406,najlepszy-prezent-na-mikolajki-kaczynski-dostal-od-grzegorza.html

-- THE SPLIT DETER THE PSL - title of Paweł Wroński's conversation with Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in GW: “Decisions on this matter have not been made, but the PSL will never give up its subjectivity. For now, talks are underway about a joint start. The PSL does not declare that it wants to join the Civic Coalition. I must admit honestly that the finale of the Platform's cooperation with Nowoczesna strengthens our conviction not to join the Civic Coalition.”

-- AN UNAPPETIZING MATTER - KOSINIAK CONTINUES TO WROŃSKI: “I observe this with growing astonishment. It is true that many voters expect closer cooperation between parties of the same liberal origin. But the way this happened, the split in Nowoczesna, makes the matter unappetizing. Although I admit that the word 'appetizing' is not appropriate here.”

-- KOSINIAK ON PIS'S PROBLEM WITH ELECTRICITY: “This is a question about PiS's credibility with its own electorate and their tolerance for sudden changes of course. We know that PiS has an extremely loyal group of voters. However, there is always a limit beyond which even they will turn away from the party. It will not be the matter of the Constitutional Tribunal, nor the Supreme Court, nor even the KNF affair. But drastic electricity price increases or dramatically low pension indexation may be hard to swallow. And then even those who have been unconditionally in love with PiS until now will say: thank you, but we are not going further with you.” http://wyborcza.pl/7,75398,24251800,rozlam-w-nowoczesnej-odstrasza-psl-koalicja-obywatelska-malo.html

-- BIEDROŃ FOUND CONFIRMATION OF HIS CASSANDRA-LIKE WARNINGS - Dominika Wielowieyska in GW: “As it turns out, what became obvious to Jarosław Kaczyński and his people before the 2015 parliamentary elections is not obvious to the Civic Platform and Nowoczesna. Now, PiS leader can watch with satisfaction as Nowoczesna splits. Similar to Robert Biedroń, who distances himself from the idea of a common coalition and today found confirmation of his Cassandra-like warnings.”

-- IT IS A LOSS FOR THE ENTIRE OPPOSITION - WIELOWIEYSKA CONTINUES: “PO leader Grzegorz Schetyna, with the help of Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz, humiliated the head of Nowoczesna, Katarzyna Lubnauer. Due to them, the party lost its club status, as some of its MPs left for PO. Thus, it will not be able to appear during parliamentary debates. This is a loss for the entire opposition.”

-- WHAT WILL SCHETYNA'S FUTURE PARTNERS THINK NOW - WIELOWIEYSKA CONTINUES: “But what will Grzegorz Schetyna's future partners think now? What will Nowacka think, who sacrificed a lot for the idea of uniting the opposition? Where is that image where Schetyna marched surrounded by both female politicians? And what fate awaits Nowacka and others in this coalition? Today, they probably think: now we will reach an agreement, but tomorrow the Platform will simply finish us off. The question therefore arises whether it is worth engaging in a game with Grzegorz Schetyna? Or maybe it's better to play with someone else?” http://wyborcza.pl/7,75968,24251770,wyborcy-niechetni-pis-mogli-miec-nadzieje-ale-widac-szlo-za.html

-- TOMASZ WALCZAK IN SE ON THE PLATFORM'S CANNIBALISM: “The Civic Coalition, which the Civic Platform proudly carries on its banners and encourages others to join, turns out to be not a remedy for PiS rule, but a political cannibal. It was not enough for Grzegorz Schetyna that he vassalized the weakening Nowoczesna – he decided to break it. He took in seven defectors from Katarzyna Lubnauer's party, who insisted that only one parliamentary club, one party, and one leader could guarantee a victorious electoral march. PO, like a good mother, decided to take in wandering liberals who, until recently, tried to overthrow its hegemony.” https://www.se.pl/wiadomosci/polityka/tomasz-walczak-koalicja-obywatelska-czyli-czarna-dziura-aa-HyiP-XUNc-Xb9p.html

-- WHEN POLITICIANS BECAME CELEBRITIES, BIEDROŃ IS BECOMING A POLITICIAN - AGNIESZKA WIŚNIEWSKA, Editor-in-Chief of KrytykaPolityczna.pl: “Biedroń is following the path of a politician, although it is hard to believe in times when most politicians have actually gone down the path of celebrities and spend more time in television studios than talking to the people they supposedly want to represent. Biedroń entered parliamentary politics not as a celebrity, but as a social activist. In the Sejm, he became a media star, and celebrity would have been the easiest choice for him, but he decided to run in Słupsk. And with all due respect to this pearl of Central Pomerania, Biedroń did not take on a position there that would be a springboard to Pudelka. Recently, he decided to build a nationwide party, in which his recognition helps, but for some reason, he does not focus on heating it up, but uses his star-studded tour of Poland to talk to people.” http://krytykapolityczna.pl/felietony/agnieszka-wisniewska/kiedy-politycy-zostali-celebrytami-biedron-staje-sie-politykiem/

-- DEPRESSION IN NOWOCZESNA - Iwona Szpala and Paweł Wroński in GW: “Among Nowoczesna politicians, there is depression and a nervous atmosphere. Within the party, they say that Gasiuk-Pihowicz made a deal with Schetyna behind the scenes so that PO could play the partner on its own terms. Although she did indeed advocate for the creation of a common club with PO, she never mentioned that if Nowoczesna did not meet this condition, she would leave her colleagues.” http://wyborcza.pl/7,75398,24251679,przygnebienie-w-nowoczesnej-lubnauer-to-koniec-koalicji-obywatelskiej.html

-- RAFAŁ TRZASKOWSKI ON PIS MAKING IT DIFFICULT FOR WARSAW TO DEAL WITH THE WASTE PROBLEM - he tells Jacek Nizinkiewicz in RZ: “I will not allow the capital to drown in garbage, as PiS wants. I see initiatives from the Ministry of Environment from PiS, which is doing everything to hinder our efforts to deal with the waste problem, announcing the closure of facilities without any reason in the voivodeship, so that we have nowhere to take the waste. I hope the government will not declare war on all Varsovians.”

-- TRZASKOWSKI ON THE AUDIT: “We are working on an opening report, which will include an assessment of the office's previous functioning. The audit will take place in the first months of next year. I am looking at the structure of the office, the departments, we are conducting competitions to eliminate overlapping competences and assess the previous functioning of the city hall.”

-- TRZASKOWSKI COUNTS ON GOVERNMENT COOPERATION ON SMOG: “We are working on combating smog, and first decisions will be made soon. It is possible to reduce smog in the capital within a term, but not in a month. In this area, I count on cooperation with Prime Minister Morawiecki's government.”

-- TRZASKOWSKI ON THE WAR OVER MONUMENTS AND CHANGING STREET NAMES - he tells Nizinkiewicz in RZ: “I do not like the Smolensk monument and the monument to the former president and the way they are located. I will not participate in the monument war, but I will not allow further violations of the law. The seizure of Piłsudski Square was illegal. I will not allow the reconstruction of the Saxon Palace without an agreement with the local government on local government land. I will not agree to PiS annexing more squares and streets.” https://www.rp.pl/Warszawa/181209600-Trzaskowski-Nie-pozwole-na-to-by-stolica-utonela-w-smieciach.html

-- PIS REVENGE FOR SKOKs - Wojciech Czuchnowski on the front page of GW: “CBA arrested the heads of the Financial Supervision Authority from the PO-PSL government era. These officials were tracking abuses in the SKOK system. Among them is Wojciech Kwaśniak, deputy head of the KNF, who was almost killed by gangsters hired by SKOK-Wołomin.” http://wyborcza.pl/7,75398,24251818,pis-sie-msci-aresztowano-urzednikow-ktorzy-tropili-naduzycia.html

-- VICTIM ACCUSED - Czuchnowski in a commentary: “Thursday's arrest by the CBA of Andrzej Jakubiak, Wojciech Kwaśniak, and five other officials who headed the Financial Supervision Commission under the previous government is a scandal that takes your breath away. (...) Arresting him in a case for which he almost died is unheard of. For this alone, not only the prosecutor who issued the warrant, but also his superiors, led by Zbigniew Ziobro, should bear responsibility. Responsibility falls on all who have a hand in this meanness. Did none of them – from Ziobro to a rank-and-file agent in a balaclava – have a shred of reflection? Did they know whom they were arresting?” http://wyborcza.pl/7,75398,24249308,pis-msci-sie-na-ludziach-ktorzy-wykryli-afery-w-skok-ach.html

-- THIS LOOKS LIKE REVENGE - Paweł Rożyński in RZ: “The arrest by CBA officers of Andrzej J., former chairman of the Financial Supervision Commission, and six subordinate officials looks like revenge or at least an attempt to divert attention from the scandal involving Marek Chrzanowski, also until recently head of the KNF. The latter is a PiS nominee, and those arrested on Thursday are from the political predecessors. The prosecutor's office announced that the recent arrest is related to "the offense of neglecting duties for the purpose of achieving significant financial gain to the detriment of the Bank Guarantee Fund and depositors." It concerns improper supervision in the years 2013–2014 over SKOK Wołomin, which went bankrupt, costing bank clients an astronomical sum of over PLN 2 billion.” https://www.rp.pl/Blogi/312069868-Jadro-ciemnosci-w-KNF.html
