-- GOWIN ON POLARIZATION SERVING THE OPPOSITION, BIELAN ON CJEU AND MOSBACHER, CZARZASTY ON MILLER EXHAUSTING HIS LIMIT OF NAMING PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES - 300LIVE: https://300polityka.pl/live/2018/12/03 -- TODAY, PRIME MINISTER EWA KOPACZ CELEBRATES HER BIRTHDAY.

-- DANIEL OBAJTEK IN DGP ON BUILDING ORLEN'S RECOGNITION - in an interview with DGP: “Orlen Group companies are in Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Canada. Orlen products are available on six continents, in over 90 countries. 60 percent of revenue comes from foreign markets. However, we actually operate retail businesses under different brands in the Czech Republic and Germany. Now we have a perfect opportunity to further build PKN Orlen's recognition as the company behind the largest network of fuel stations in our southern neighbors and one of the largest in the German market.”

-- ORLEN LOGO ON RACING CARS AND DRIVERS' SUITS - OBAJTEK CONTINUES IN DGP: “Of course, I can't say that today, but I assure you everyone will be satisfied. The logo will also appear on the drivers' and team members' suits.”

-- WE ARE JOINING THE SAME CLUB AS PETRONAS - OBAJTEK CONTINUES: “We are conducting business discussions with companies operating worldwide. We meet with partners, for example, in the Arabian Peninsula. After the publications that have already appeared in the global media – Reuters, 'The New York Times', etc. – every business meeting begins with this issue. This lends us credibility; we are joining the same club as, for instance, Petronas.” https://wiadomosci.dziennik.pl/polityka/artykuly/586453,orlen-obajtek-kubica-f1-sponsorowanie-tasmy.html

-- ONE CAN SMILE AT THE CIVIC COALITION'S ACCUSATIONS AGAINST BIEDROŃ AS IT HAS NOT PRESENTED ANY SPECIAL PROGRAM - TOMASZ SAWCZUK IN KULTURA LIBERALNA: “This accusation comes primarily from circles associated with the Civic Coalition, which is quite amusing in itself, as it has not presented any special program in the last three years. However, Biedroń's method of operation is serious and worth examining. Biedroń's not announcing a program or the name of a new party is simply a very good move. Biedroń can now travel around the country and 'write a program together with the people' during meetings he calls 'brainstorming sessions.' During rallies, the politician encourages people to publicly voice demands important to them, while he himself acts as a master of ceremonies and moderates the discussion. Finally, the audience votes on the demands, and those that gain a clear majority are incorporated into a provisional 'program,' which will then be refined by experts.”

-- BIEDROŃ GIVES PEOPLE A SENSE OF AGENCY DURING RALLIES - SAWCZUK CONTINUES IN KL: “Biedroń gives people a sense of agency during rallies, and in return, he obtains a certificate that his program is based on real conversations with Poles and thus addresses their needs. The former mayor of Słupsk shows that the mythologized 'people' to which PiS refers can be transformed into real individuals who have their own voice. Biedroń has clearly struck a chord, as last Saturday Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki tried to copy his idea during a PiS convention, where he walked around the stage with a microphone and answered audience questions.”

-- INSTEAD OF CURSING, THE CIVIC COALITION COULD BE INSPIRED BY BIEDROŃ - SAWCZUK'S CONCLUSION: “The moral, however, is this: Biedroń's democratic method is far more serious than a set of circus tricks. In the book 'New Liberalism,' I argued that the political center needs more democratic accents today. Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz made a similar appeal in his 'Theoretical State.' If Poland is to remain liberal-democratic, then alternatives must be found for the current pillars of stability in our politics, which in the past included EU accession requirements or the strong position of post-round table elites. In the best-case scenario, citizens should identify with the political system themselves and feel a sense of responsibility towards it. Instead of cursing Biedroń, the Civic Coalition could take his model of operation as a source of inspiration.” https://kulturaliberalna.pl/2018/12/03/sawczuk-biedron-koalicja-obywatelska/#

-- DOMINIKA WIELOWIEYSKA ON THE GAME OF EXACERBATING LEGISLATION IN CASE OF DIVISION WITHIN THE RULING CAMP - writes in GW: “Won't Kamiński now want to prove his impartiality at all costs and show that the position at the World Bank for his son Kacper, gifted to him by Glapiński, doesn't matter? And doesn't this mean there will be no mercy for members of the ruling camp if they are found to be involved in an affair? Is this a direct path to division within the ruling camp? Ziobro and Bierecki, cornered, may threaten a split, using the abortion issue, for that matter. Jarosław Kaczyński must remember Leszek Miller's warnings after the Rywin and Orlen affairs. And Miller always maintained that the main reason for the SLD's degradation was hostile media and divisions within the Alliance.” http://wyborcza.pl/7,75968,24235382,w-pis-buzuje-wewnetrzny-konflikt-czy-frakcja-skok-ow-i-ziobry.html

-- PRIME MINISTER MORAWIECKI'S "BUCKETS OF LOVE" - Michał Szułdrzyński in RZ: “Saturday's declarations, however, resembled an alcoholic's solemn assurance that he would stop drinking from tomorrow. The question is whether this promise will be kept this time, or whether in a few days PiS will return to its previous style of governance? What will the PiS 'hussars' do now, from Zbigniew Ziobro, through Krystyna Pawłowicz, to Stanisław Piotrowicz? How does the announcement of a 'politics of love' align with the constant 'seance of hatred' on public television? How can one believe the Prime Minister's words about stable growth now, when just before this declaration the government went to war with the US ambassador, and immediately after inviting to bridge divides, the Prime Minister at the Radio Maryja's birthday celebration accused opponents of not loving Poland?” https://www.rp.pl/Komentarze/312029971-Szuldrzynski-Wiadra-milosci-premiera-Morawieckiego.html&template=restricted

-- EVENINGS AS CARING AS GIEREK, MORNINGS AS GHOSTLY AS RYDZYK - Piotr Pacewicz in Oko: “At the 27th anniversary of Rydzyk's radio station, the Prime Minister prayed for those 'who do not love Poland as much as we do here, as the Radio Maryja Family' – he excluded everyone outside the ultra-Catholic collective from Polishness and included the ruling camp in it. A few hours earlier, on the show 'Work for Poland,' he was gentle like some Gierek, making peace with the opposition and Europe. (...) Morawiecki exhibits characteristics of a fanatic, and his faith – under the guise of all-encompassing goodness and seeking 'deep happiness' for everyone – has the characteristics of cruelly excluding those who think differently. But he is merely realizing the PiS program in its extreme form – the Prime Minister, after all, loves exaggeration – which attributed a key role to the Church in Poland's history and showed the importance of religion for the values of 'freedom, which co-creates the meaning of being Polish.'” https://oko.press/morawiecki-wieczorem-troskliwy-jak-gierek-ale-rano-upiorny-jak-rydzyk/

-- MICHAŁ DWORCZYK ON THE QUESTION FROM JACEK NIZINKIEWICZ WHETHER PZU OR PKO CAN GET INVOLVED IN THE OPERATION TO TAKE OVER RADIO ZET - in RZ: “I have no idea. We have a free market, so I can imagine various M&A operations, meaning mergers and acquisitions, but I have no knowledge on this specific matter.”

-- DWORCZYK ON DECONCENTRATION: “No work is planned on media market deconcentration in this term. The government or the PiS Parliamentary Club is not working on media reform. We will see what Poles want after the next parliamentary elections.”

-- THE PROSECUTOR FAILED - DWORCZYK ON WHY THE PRIME MINISTER WAS LATE TO KNOW ABOUT THE KNF AFFAIR: “The prosecutor failed at the Ministry of Justice, who, to my knowledge – has faced consequences – has been transferred. We are talking about a two-day delay. In the case of the PO-PSL government, the delays were on the order of several years, as in the VAT or Amber Gold affairs.” https://www.rp.pl/Polityka/312029967-Dworczyk-Wolnosc-mediow-jest-niezagrozona.html&template=restricted

-- FROM MY EXPERIENCE, YOU HAVE A FREE PRESS - AMBASSADOR MOSBACHER in conversation with Bogusław Chrobota in RZ: “No, from my experience in Poland so far, you have a free press. But my job is to ensure that American companies have a level playing field, are treated fairly. Part of this task is also to appeal to fundamental values. And we actually share these values, as shown by the common Polish-American history. This is something unique in the world. Our history is a fight for freedom shoulder to shoulder. It is a deep, unique, important history. We share these fundamental values, but I see nothing wrong in constantly strengthening them.”

-- THE USA WILL BE PERMANENTLY PRESENT IN POLAND, ALSO ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CURRENT LEVEL - MOSBACHER CONTINUES IN RZ: “A few weeks ago, I attended a meeting of the defense ministers of Poland and the United States. We made great progress. There is no doubt, and I can say this with full responsibility, the United States of America will be permanently present in Poland, also above and beyond the current level.”

-- POLAND IS A BASTION IN THE REGION AGAINST RUSSIAN AGGRESSION - MOSBACHER CONTINUES: “Poland is a kind of bastion in this region against Russian aggression. There is no doubt that Russia will not cease its provocations, so Poland must remain the foundation of the region's stability.” https://www.rp.pl/Polityka/181209954-Ambasador-USA-Georgette-Mosbacher-dla-Rz-Polska-bastionem-przed-agresja-Rosji.html

-- BOGDAN KLICH IN GW ON THE SURPRISING INDIFFERENCE OF POLISH AUTHORITIES REGARDING UKRAINE: “Therefore, the indifference of the Polish authorities, especially the government and the president, to the recent acts of aggression by Russia against Ukraine is astonishing and disturbing. The lack of a swift response from President Andrzej Duda, appropriate to the gravity of the situation, is astonishing. Let me remind you that President Petro Poroshenko called on Monday at eight in the morning. And what did President Duda do? Practically nothing, apart from a ritualistic assurance that Poland supports Ukraine. Why did he not convene the National Security Council on this matter? Why did he not initiate an expansion of EU sanctions against Russia? Why did he not propose expanding the support pact for Ukraine adopted by the North Atlantic Alliance summit in Warsaw two years ago? Why did he not call key European leaders, the USA, and Canada with an initiative to create a coalition of countries rearming the Ukrainian army?” http://wyborcza.pl/7,75968,24235400,grozna-dla-polski-bezczynnosc-rzadu-oraz-prezydenta-dudy-w-sprawie.html

-- CONCLUSIONS WITH CENSORSHIP IN THE BACKGROUND - RZ's front page.

-- EWA SIEDLECKA ON THE ACTIVATION OF SOCIAL CONTROL - ON THE OCCASION OF GLAPIŃSKI'S MOTION: "These are just possibilities. We see how they work in the case of the prosecution – for almost three years now. Now we will see how they work in the courts. However, there is a fundamental difference between the prosecution and the courts: judges have learned to publicize all political pressure and suspicious events. The activation of this social control affects not only public opinion but also the judges themselves. This has been happening since the elections to the National Council of the Judiciary – indecent behavior costs a judge their reputation. And this is probably the best control mechanism possible.” https://www.polityka.pl/tygodnikpolityka/kraj/1773696,1,pis-usiluje-wyciszyc-afere-knf-za-pomoca-sadu.read?src=mt

-- MICHAŁ SUTOWSKI QUOTES DR. MATYJA ON WHETHER GDULA'S REPORT FROM MIASTKO IS CURRENT - COURSE OF A CONFERENCE BY KRYTYKA I FUNDACJA EBERTA: “In connection with the recent elections, Matyja emphasized three aspects, rarely present in public debate, but significant for interpreting their results. Firstly, the high number of so-called split votes, i.e., voting for a PiS candidate for the regional assembly and their opponent for the office of mayor – this indicates the reluctance of residents towards candidates 'brought in a briefcase,' detached from the local community, and simultaneously undermines the thesis about the 'anti-PiS' character of many votes for Civic Coalition or PSL candidates. Secondly, it is worth repeating the study in Miastko on the same sample to check the dynamics of emotions – whether after 3 years of PiS rule, the party's voters feel similarly about the world around them (in terms of agency, but also the possibility of 'crossing boundaries'). Thirdly, it would be interesting to examine the voters' moods just before and just after the campaign – much indicates the enormous performative power of the campaign period and the immense influence of the pre-election months on the so-called television electorate.” http://krytykapolityczna.pl/kraj/nowy-autorytaryzm-rok-po-badaniach-gduli-w-miastku/

-- ELŻBIETA RAFALSKA REBUTS THE ACCUSATION THAT THE GOVERNMENT IS INSUFFICIENTLY HELPING SINGLE PARENTS - as she says in an interview with DGP: “Therefore, I have the impression that in the context of discussions about single parents, a narrative is being created as if our government is neglecting these people. Meanwhile, we conducted an analysis of all benefits addressed to them. Family benefits, the Alimony Fund, the Family 500 plus program. In 2015, we allocated PLN 2,452,432 thousand for them, and in 2017, PLN 7,085,199 thousand. Almost three times as much. Is that little? In addition, GUS data shows that the situation of single parents is improving. Poverty in this group is falling faster than in full families.”

-- RAFALSKA ON HOW UNDER THE PO GOVERNMENT, 2 MILLION FAMILIES LOST THEIR RIGHT TO BENEFITS: “Those who are now criticizing me from the parliamentary rostrum did nothing to change the threshold for the Alimony Fund. And by saying they care about children's welfare, they demonstrate pure hypocrisy and deceit. Since spending on single parents is now three times higher than when MP Magdalena Kochan had a say, what are we even talking about? Except that during the Civic Platform's time, over 2 million families lost their right to family benefits!” https://gospodarka.dziennik.pl/news/artykuly/586460,rafalska-500-plus-fundusz-alimentacyjny-alimenty-rodzina-pieniadze-rzad-pis.html
