-- DEBATE AT LEGIA TODAY STARTING AT 11 AM.
-- PLAN FOR THE DAY AND MOST IMPORTANT MORNING STATEMENTS: LUBNAUER ON RETIREMENT AGE - SCHETYNA SPOKE ON BEHALF OF PO: https://300polityka.pl/live/2018/10/03/
-- WARSAW TELEVISION DEBATE ON OCTOBER 12 AT 8:30 PM: “On October 12 at 8:30 PM, three television stations will broadcast live a debate of candidates for the President of Warsaw. All candidates – as many as 14 people – will take part.”
-- A PIS POLITICIAN IN JACEK GĄDEK'S ARTICLE IN GAZETA.PL ON PSL'S RESULT: “One of the PiS politicians: – We are fighting for the same electorate, but we already defeated PSL in the countryside in 2015. In the local elections, they certainly won't achieve the result they did four years ago, because the famous booklet is gone. They are still very well entrenched in the provinces. If they achieve a very weak result now and lose power in a large number of voivodeships, it could be the beginning of their end.”
-- ALEKSANDER KWAŚNIEWSKI WILL NOT VOTE FOR THE SLD CANDIDATE: “Andrzej Rozenek is a very good person, candidate, and politician, but we know very well that the battle will be decided between Trzaskowski and Jaki. I'm betting on Trzaskowski – said the former president in an interview with Polsat News.”
-- EWA SIEDLECKA ON THE SEJM AS THE MARSHAL'S PROPERTY: “Judge Kosowski has opened the way to the Human Rights Court for us. The drawback is that the Court is not swift, and the verdict – which I hope will be favorable to the citizens' right to control power – will likely come in a few years, when the Law and Justice government is no longer in power. However, it is quite probable that subsequent authorities will maintain and develop the practice of restricting journalists' and other citizens' access to parliament. The concept that the sovereign is not the nation but the victorious party may prove to be very attractive.”

-- JAN ŚPIEWAK SAYS JAKI WAS CREATED BY HGW - in an interview with Tomasz Żółciak in DGP: “I believe the verification commission did a lot of good – it changed public opinion on the issue of reprivatization, helped to rectify some injustices, and above all, restored dignity to people evicted from tenement houses. In this context, it was Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz who created Patryk Jaki. Had it not been for her disastrous governance in this area, Jaki would have had nothing to do in the capital. Civic Platform did nothing about this issue despite our appeals. As early as 2014, we were supposed to enter into a coalition with PO, and one of the points of the program agreement was to resolve this matter. Platform has learned nothing, it continues down the same path and wants things to remain as they were.”
-- ŚPIEWAK REPEATS HE WILL NOT SUPPORT ANYONE IN THE 2ND ROUND: “But I don't want to be a wallflower for either Trzaskowski or Jaki. Especially since the latter is a parachutist with nothing to do with Warsaw, and what's more, he carries the burden of Zbigniew Ziobro with him. Patryk Jaki might even be a decent guy, but he cannot be separated from what he is doing on a national level, i.e., dismantling state institutions, violating the constitution by PiS, or building a clientelistic state. I will not endorse anyone in the second round.”
-- HOW MUCH WOULD A SQUARE METER OF HOUSING COST IF DEVELOPERS HAD THE SAME CHANCES ON THE MARKET - ŚPIEWAK CONTINUES IN DGP: “We don't want to argue with businesses, for example, we just want equal rules of the game. And they don't exist in this city. There are companies that have it easier, and those that are not allowed to the table. Local spatial development plans should be adopted, representing a compromise between the interests of business and residents. Otherwise, we are condemned to zoning decisions dependent on the whims of officials. Sometimes I wonder how much less a square meter of housing could cost if development companies were allowed access to the market on the same terms.”
-- ŚPIEWAK ON ŻÓŁCIAK'S QUESTION ABOUT BIEDROŃ: “We are open to cooperation, but for now, we are focused on Warsaw.”
-- THE PROBLEM WITH TRZASKOWSKI'S PROGRAM IS THAT IT SOUNDS ALARMINGLY FAMILIAR - Michał Wojtczuk in GW: “Some of these promises have already appeared in the fourth election campaign of Civic Platform in Warsaw. (...) The problem with these specifics is that they sound alarmingly familiar. The revitalization of Three Crosses Square, promised by Trzaskowski, was also promised back in 2006 by Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz. She also announced, among other things, the roofing of the ice skating rink in Stegny (2006), a park at the Warsaw Uprising mound (2006), the construction of Nowotrocka Street in Targówek (2010), access to wireless internet in every school (2014), the construction of the Sinfonia Varsovia headquarters (2014)...”
-- A CENTURY LOW IN NEWS VIEWERSHIP - DGP on 24.4 million as the lowest viewership for a TVP service in 20 years.
-- RUSSIANS ALWAYS APPEAR IN THE MATTER OF TAPES - Grzegorz Rzeczkowski in Polityka: “However, this does not mean that we are left to wait with folded hands for further leaks of recorded conversations. We can show the background, the broad context of this affair, i.e., who with whom, where, how, when, for how much, how often. This should be enough for us to see and hear that whatever we touch in this matter, Russians associated with Kremlin-controlled business or Poles connected with them appear. PiS is only and entirely a tool in their game. And the goal of this play is to deepen divisions and sow distrust and unrest in Polish society.”
-- PIS RECEIVES TAPES AS A BOOMERANG - Dominika Wielowieyska in GW: “Whatever the truth about the owner of the tapes and the internal conflicts in PiS, one thing seems certain: it is a dirty game in which someone protects criminals, someone scares, or perhaps blackmails politicians and manipulates public opinion. For his own good, the Prime Minister should make public the recording that the waiters are talking about, and which the services should have found. Unless we have a theoretical state.”
-- WOJCIECH CZUCHNOWSKI ON MORAWIECKI'S RECORDING - writes in GW: “The spokesperson did not answer the question about the number of meetings but emphasized: 'In the wiretapping investigation, Mr. Morawiecki has the status of a victim. At the same time, I want to assure you that the Prime Minister has never been blackmailed with the disclosure of the content of any recordings.' And she added: 'The Prime Minister did not intend and does not intend to dismiss the Minister Coordinator of Special Services. Repeating such speculations has no factual basis. The Prime Minister's cooperation with Minister Mariusz Kamiński is very professional and goes very well.'”

-- KACZYŃSKI DEMANDED EXPLANATIONS AFTER TVN REPORT - Wojciech Czuchnowski in GW: “The fact that the PiS chairman summoned activists from Radom to his office was officially announced on Tuesday by PiS spokesperson Beata Mazurek. She did not specify who exactly was summoned, but according to "Wyborcza" sources, Suski, who is considered a PiS 'baron' in the Mazovian voivodeship, definitely spoke with the chairman.”
-- JAKI IN AN RP ARTICLE ABOUT COMPLETING A COURSE AT A PRESTIGIOUS UNIVERSITY IN BARCELONA: “Patryk Jaki himself considers the accusations by the PO MP to be unfounded. – I have a diploma from IESE Business School in Barcelona, which was recognized by the prestigious "Financial Times" newspaper as the best business school in the world in the Executive Education category in the years 2015–2018. I completed the program like everyone else who receives such a diploma. I did not design the program and had no influence on it – he comments. – The classes were taught by the best experts and managers in the world. So what if the lectures took place not only in Barcelona but also in Warsaw. It’s probably good that Polish ministers are constantly training and want to improve their skills – he adds.”
