-- JURGIEL VS. HUNTERS: "It's time to change this relic of the PRL. It's high time for healthy competition in this field, as is the case in the vast majority of European countries. In my opinion, the Polish Hunting Association (PZŁ) in its current form should be liquidated, and several entities should be created in its place that will compete on the market and be genuinely responsible for the implementation of hunting policy." http://www.minrol.gov.pl/Ministerstwo/Biuro-Prasowe/Informacje-Prasowe/Komentarz-ministra-Krzysztofa-Jurgiela-do-reakcji-PZL-na-krytyke-dzialalnosci-zwiazku

-- PAP REPORTS THAT INICIATYWA POLSKA, RAZEM, AND WOLNE MIASTO WARSZAWA HAVE REACHED AN AGREEMENT IN WARSAW: "According to PAP, the three organizations are to announce their programmatic agreement as early as next week. They will also issue an invitation for cooperation to other urban movements – including organizations from the coalition centered around the 'Miasto Jest Nasze' association. Discussions are also ongoing regarding the potential accession of the Together party (Partia Razem), Inicjatywa Polska, and WMW Zieloni Party to the coalition." https://wpolityce.pl/polityka/398904-partia-razem-inicjatywa-polska-i-wolne-miasto-warszawa-zawiazaly-koalicje-w-stolicy-wspolnym-kandydatem-jan-spiewak

-- BARBARA NOWACKA ON TWITTER: "Dear 'Civic Coalition' pistols. Instead of blindly attacking, getting excited about rumors and half-truths, and slandering me on Twitter for your delusions, focus on supporting your own candidates, on a positive message. You won't win by attacking people from the pro-democratic side from PiS. Seriously." https://twitter.com/barbaraanowacka/status/1006084051755728896

-- KACPER PŁAŻYŃSKI ON THE INCINERATOR IN GDAŃSK: "Handing over such a waste treatment plant to foreign hands, where the Gdańsk authorities will not be able to verify if the filters are regularly replaced, poses a serious threat to the lives and health of Gdańsk residents. It will be a company completely unrelated to this city, and it will be driven by only one goal: to profit from this incinerator for a maximum of 25 years." https://wpolityce.pl/m/polityka/398837-kolejny-skandal-w-gdansku-plazynski-w-miescie-powstanie-olbrzymia-spalarnia-przez-25-lat-zarzadzac-nia-beda-wlosi-i-francuzi-nasz-wywiad

-- ONE OF THE PILOTS ON THE SITUATION AT LOT - in a "Duży Format" report by GW: "Andrzej, captain, dreamliner pilot: - Previously, three pilots flew to Chicago so they could rotate and rest. Now two have to stay awake for 10 hours. After such a flight, pilots shouldn't even get behind the wheel."

-- ON EMPLOYMENT FOR BUSINESS ACTIVITY AT LOT - continuing from GW: "- Many openly say that they only fly at LOT to gain flight hours for promotion and then move to another company where they pay better. They won't leave immediately because without flight hours they would have to start from the lowest rank. The CEO turns a blind eye to this. He stubbornly pushes for young people to be employed as contractors,' says Andrzej."

-- MILCZARSKI IN A CONVERSATION WITH GW ABOUT HIS BONUSES: "Milczarski in an interview with 'Wyborcza': - This discussion is damaging the country. If something is granted to someone, it is sensible and nation-building. Poland lacks human capital, and to attract it, it must be rewarded. Many people in the country should earn more. Madam, please allow me to end this discussion in this way.

– Will you say how much bonus you received?

– No.

– Why?

– Because I need the owner's permission for that." http://wyborcza.pl/duzyformat/7,127290,23513015,strajk-w-lot-pasazerowie-juz-pilotom-nie-klaszcza-a.html

-- WOLFGANG SCHÄUBLE SAYS POLAND CANNOT BE THREATENED WITH A FINGER - reprint of an interview in Tageszeitung: "One can and should discuss this. However, one cannot threaten with a finger saying, I'll show you what it's about, sit down, like in school. Do we really need to teach Poles the fight for freedom and self-determination? Probably not. Due to the history of the last century, we should treat this country (Poland) with due respect. Without the courage of Poles who opposed the dictatorship, we might not be conducting this interview here."

-- SCHÄUBLE APPEALS NOT TO APPEAR ARROGANT: "Observing some discussions between Brussels and countries like Poland and Hungary, but also the Czech Republic or Slovakia, I appeal: let's not appear arrogant. (...) I can understand that Eastern Europeans sometimes feel that their arguments are not being heard. Many Germans from the eastern part of the country (former GDR), after reunification, also felt that in the German-dominated western debate, nobody listened to them." https://wpolityce.pl/m/polityka/398737-bardzo-wazne-slowa-szefa-bundestagu-nie-mozna-grozic-polsce-palcem-bez-odwagi-polakow-byc-moze-nie-prowadzilibysmy-tego-wywiadu

-- IT'S HARD TO BLAME THE SLD ELECTORATE FOR LIVING IN CONSTANT FEAR - Aleksander Kwaśniewski in conversation with Łukasz Rogojsz: "The reason is simple – the SLD decided, and is consistent in this, to appeal to the left-wing electorate, which can be described as nostalgic for the past. It's still a fairly large group of people who do not agree with the current government's proposal to completely dismiss the PRL era. The quintessence of the rulers' concept were Prime Minister Morawiecki's words that the Polish state did not exist during the PRL. If we add to this projects such as the de-ubekization and (fortunately vetoed by President Duda) degradation laws, as well as the mass renaming of PRL-era street names, it's hard to blame these people for living in constant fear."

-- CZARZASTY DID HIS HOMEWORK - SAYS KWAŚNIEWSKI: "No, that's only one side of the story. The other is – and this must be acknowledged by Włodzimierz Czarzasty and the rest of the current SLD leadership – that they did their homework. They traveled across the country, met thousands of people, revitalized many 'grassroots' structures and organizations of the Alliance. Thanks to this, there has finally been some internal movement in the party." http://wiadomosci.gazeta.pl/wiadomosci/7,114884,23510302,kwasniewski-o-przyczynach-popularnosci-sld-jako-jedyni-bronia.html#MT

-- JĘDRZEJ BIELECKI ON POLAND'S PREDICAMENT BETWEEN THE USA AND THE EU - writes in RZ: "Warsaw has found itself in a trap between Washington and Brussels. Because of Iran. The unity of the European Union is very important to us. It is crucial in any matter of such serious significance. Poland wants to actively co-create it – Minister for European Affairs Konrad Szymański tells 'Rz'. But he adds: – We would like the steps taken by the Union not to excessively deepen tensions in relations with the USA. A European diplomat: – American pressure on Poland is enormous. That is why Poles want to act as intermediaries between Brussels and Washington." http://www.rp.pl/Swiat/306109923-Pulapka-na-Polske.html

-- BRUSSELS INCREASES PRESSURE ON POLAND - Anna Słojewska in RZ: "The second possible option: the Dutchman raises the stakes, resists the chairman, and wins. This would be an absolute precedent; nothing like this has happened in this term yet. If so, then Timmermans must be persuaded, and this requires further changes in judicial laws and leaving the Supreme Court judges in their positions." http://www.rp.pl/Kraj/306109936-Bruksela-zwieksza-presje-na-Polske.html

-- BRUSSELS SWALLOWS AN AUTHORITARIAN PILL - Jacek Żakowski in GW: "There are countless pretexts for the European Commission's inaction. Countries like Poland have been providing them themselves for years. Our accession to Europe was always conditional; even before PiS, Polish governments guarded 'Polish exceptionalism,' using various loopholes. From the aggression on Iraq and CIA prisons, through the British protocol, the Charter of Fundamental Rights, and avoiding the euro, to the refugee crisis. In every difficult matter, we chose the anti-EU path, so we earned the reputation of the Community's 'deviants.'" http://wyborcza.pl/7,75968,23521735,bruksela-lyka-autorytarna-trucizne.html

-- JAKI HAS NO SUPPORT FROM PIŚ STRUCTURES - writes Iwona Szpala in GW: "In PiS, they complained that Jaki speaks before he thinks, advising him to gain several years of experience in serious politics. Now they are saying that he is incredibly captivating the structures. But so far, no PiS politicians are seen around Jaki; the party doesn't stand behind him."

-- SZPALA RELATES THE OPINION OF A PO POLITICIAN THAT TRZASKOWSKI IS WANDERING AROUND WARSAW AND IT'S HARD TO LISTEN TO A GUY WHO IS STILL PROMISING THINGS: "Trzaskowski is currently traveling around Warsaw. Then he repeats everywhere that he has already had a hundred meetings – that's proof of activity. PO politicians admit that nominating a candidate as early as autumn 2017 was a mistake. – It's hard to listen to a guy who is still promising good things. And in reality, he's been wandering around Warsaw for months – one hears within Platforma. – Trzaskowski fell victim to Grzegorz Schetyna, who was playing a political game with Ryszard Petru, so he needed a candidate for the mayor of Warsaw quickly, says a PO politician."

-- SZPALA ON TRZASKOWSKI'S STRATEGY CHANGE: "The interlocutor of 'Wyborcza' announces a change in the campaign strategy, meaning a unified message from PO and Trzaskowski: – This was agreed at Schetyna's level, he assures. Within the party, they claim that the PO leader was dissatisfied with Trzaskowski's current strategy. But the candidate, in an interview with 'Wyborcza,' says it was quite the opposite." http://wyborcza.pl/7,75398,23521595,jaki-korzysta-z-opolskiego-zaciagu-trzaskowski-chce-stawiac.html

-- MORAWIECKI WOULD LIKE TO GET RID OF TCHÓRZEWSKI - Paweł Wroński writes in GW: "The party also has other problems. During Wednesday's debate on the motion to dismiss Deputy Prime Minister Beata Szydło and Minister of Family and Labour Elżbieta Rafalska, it was evident that there was a strong division in the government between the faction of the former prime minister and Mateusz Morawiecki. The prime minister focused on attacking the opposition instead of defending Szydło. He would also like to get rid of several ministers from the government, e.g., Krzysztof Tchórzewski, the Minister of Energy. For now, he has taken over the management of the most important fuel companies – Orlen and Lotos – from him." http://wyborcza.pl/7,75398,23512058,pis-czeka-na-powrot-kaczynskiego-a-prezes-ma-problemy-z-dwoma.html

-- SWORD OVER THE HEAD OF THE MINISTER OF ENERGY - RZ: "However, the resignation of an old comrade is not ruled out – for example, at Orlen, President Wojciech Jasiński, a friend of Kaczyński, was replaced by Daniel Obajtek. Morawiecki also received a free hand from the party leader in economic matters. And his conflict with Tchórzewski is becoming visible. – Recently, during a government meeting, there was a sharp exchange of words between the prime minister and the minister of energy regarding nuclear power, one of our interlocutors reports." http://archiwum.rp.pl/artykul/1376012-Topor-nad-glowa-ministra-energii.html

-- WE WON, POLITICAL CAPITAL CAN NO LONGER BE MADE FROM HOMOPHOBIA IN POLAND - Wojciech Karpieszuk in GW: "It was unthinkable until now for PO politicians to march in the parade, and on Saturday they proudly marched with rainbow flags and posted photos on Facebook. Rafał Trzaskowski, the PO and Nowoczesna candidate for mayor of the capital, recently said on 'Kropka nad i' that as the mayor of Warsaw, he would like to officiate same-sex weddings. Four years ago, such words would have been unimaginable." http://wyborcza.pl/7,75968,23521719,parada-rownosci-201-przegraliscie-panowie-z-ruchu-narodowego.html

-- MONTHLY COMMEMORATION AT THE PALACE: "On behalf of President Andrzej Duda, the Head of the Presidential Cabinet, Krzysztof Szczerski, laid flowers on Sunday in the chapel of the Presidential Palace before the plaque commemorating the Presidential Couple Lech and Maria Kaczyński, the last President of the Republic of Poland in exile Ryszard Kaczorowski, and the employees of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland who died in the Smoleńsk catastrophe on April 10, 2010. Flowers are laid before the plaque in the palace chapel on the 10th day of each month personally by the President of the Republic of Poland or by one of the Ministers in the KPRP." http://www.prezydent.pl/kancelaria/aktywnosc-ministrow/art,1232,hold-dla-ofiar-katastrofy-smolenskiej.html

-- SŁAWOMIR SIERAKOWSKI SUPPORTS THE STUDENT STRIKE: "Where the addition of a council, the strengthening of the rector's power, the liquidation of academic disciplines are criticized, values are criticized, not just procedures. It is at this level that Gowin failed to reach an agreement with students and academic staff, despite 699 days of consultations and reading all 3300 amendments. This strike is the best advice." http://krytykapolityczna.pl/kraj/sierakowski-ten-strajk-to-najlepsza-rada/
