-- WE DON'T LIVE IN THE 90s, AND FULL SHELVES DON'T DISTRACT PEOPLE - Jacek Karnowski: “And Platforma – supposedly so modern – again fails to understand that the world is changing, and that we no longer live in the 90s when full shelves could indeed distract people and overshadow what's important. Today, Poles want more in other areas of life as well. Often, they probably can't name it, often they'll respond in a poll as their televisions prompt them, but in reality, they can make good choices and distinguish a genuine threat to freedom from mere theatrics.”
-- PLATFORMA HITS A VOID - Karnowski continues: “The topic is seemingly attractive and topical, but once again, PO has hit a void. Poles accepted the new regulations not only calmly, but even – I will venture to say – with some satisfaction. The good weather certainly contributed, but that probably doesn't end the discussion. One can assume that society has matured to at least a certain experiment in this sphere. Even ‘Gazeta Wyborcza’ seems to notice this, announcing today a generally positive assessment (let's disregard the debatable jab at the Church and the supposedly lower turnout).” https://wpolityce.pl/spoleczenstwo/385764-opozycja-znow-popelnia-blad-to-nie-gonitwa-po-galeriach-ale-leniwa-zachodnia-niedziela-jest-dzis-aspiracja-polakow
-- A CIRCUS WITH BONUSES IN THE GOVERNMENT, THE MINISTER DIDN'T GET ONE AND RETURNED IT?! - Radosław Gruca in Fakt: “Lies have short legs. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki (50) and his entourage are painfully learning the truth of this maxim. First, they assured that after the change of prime minister, there would be no more bonuses in the government, and the next day... that they received them, but immediately returned them.”
-- KOPCIŃSKA SAID SOMETHING COMPLETELY THE OPPOSITE OF DWORCZYK - Fakt continues: “It started with the Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Michał Dworczyk (43), who assured on TVN24 on Monday that Morawiecki, as prime minister, did not award any bonuses. Almost exactly 24 hours later, Kopcińska said something completely opposite! However, she immediately added that she clicked the 'return transfer' button and returned the bonus. Indeed, some banks have such an option. But does the law allow for it?” https://www.fakt.pl/wydarzenia/polityka/rzad-kreci-w-sprawie-nagrod-ministrow-kopcinska-obnazyla-dworczyka/nvv0y92
-- THE APPEARANCE OF CHANGE IN OFFICES - Mateusz Rzemek in RZ: “The administrative reform announced by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is purely action for show. And an inept one at that, which will further burden the image of the PiS government. It looks like a special show for the masses, who have been fed deputy ministers. Especially since the dismissals are happening right after ministers received one-time bonuses exceeding the annual earnings of most working Poles.” http://www.rp.pl/Opinie/303139913-Mateusz-Rzemek-Pozory-zmian-w-urzedach.html
-- THE OPINION IS GROWING THAT THE PRIME MINISTER HAS GOT LOST TRYING TO EXTINGUISH IMAGE FIRES - Michał Szułdrzyński in RZ: “Within the ruling camp, the opinion is increasingly common that instead of bringing new quality, the prime minister has gotten lost trying to extinguish successive image fires. And sometimes he even fanned the flames himself – as in the case of his statements in Munich, when he spoke of Jewish perpetrators of the Holocaust.
-- ONE CAN'T HELP BUT FEEL THE PRESIDENT HAS STUCK A FEW PINS INTO THE GOVERNMENT - Szułdrzyński continues: “And although the president hedged his remarks with assurances about the need to protect Poland's good name, although he spoke of sovereignty which means Poles will make the law in Poland, without succumbing to any external pressure, one can't help but feel that this is a kind of smoke screen, needed to stick a few pins into the government.”
-- THE PRESIDENT POINTS OUT FLAWS, ENCOURAGES NATIONAL UNITY AND BUILDS HIS POSITION - Szułdrzyński's conclusion: “In turn, the president continues his strategy, adopted some time ago: he points out the government's missteps, encourages national unity, and builds his position. This will certainly be the most comfortable position for him.” http://www.rp.pl/Rzecz-o-polityce/303139915-Prezydent-wbija-szpilki-w-PiS.html
-- HE'S LESS MATURE THAN SZYDŁO, HIS PRIDE HAS RUINED HIM - Wojciech Szacki in Polityka quotes PiS politicians: “– As a politician, he is less mature than Szydło. His self-confidence has ruined him – believes a PiS MP. And a politician from Jarosław Kaczyński's circle adds: – The politician in him has fallen asleep, and a publicist has woken up. Even Kornel Morawiecki, the prime minister's father and leader of a parliamentary club supporting the government, advised his son to apologize for putting Germans, Poles, and Jews in the same category (and to have a translator accompany Mateusz next time), but to no avail.”
-- JAKA POLLS BETTER THAN DWORCZYK - Andrzej Gajcy in Onet: “The problem, however, is the rather weak results of internal polls, which do not give him much chance of winning in Warsaw compared to his rival for the capital, Deputy Minister of Justice Patryk Jaki. – In the party, everyone was sure that Dworczyk would have a similar result to Jaki, or even better. It turned out, however, that this is not the case – an influential politician from the ruling camp tells us.”
-- GAJCY ON DWORCZYK'S LOWER-THAN-EXPECTED RESULTS: “The reason for Dworczyk's lower-than-expected ratings might stem from his rather weak recognition in Warsaw itself. Although as a local government official, he has served in the district council, city council, and provincial assembly, he twice failed to win a seat in the Sejm in an electoral battle, precisely from Warsaw. He only won it by running from Wałbrzych, which opened the door to national politics for him. Furthermore, many in PiS consider Dworczyk an efficient official, not a fighter who can rally voters and win a difficult and dirty campaign that is looming in the capital.”
-- GAJCY ON THE PIS CAMPAIGN AFTER APRIL 10: “For now, however, no one in PiS, unlike the PO and N. candidates, is seriously thinking about preparing a campaign in Warsaw. All attention is currently focused on reconciling party interests in the regions. By March 15, proposals for names that could be included on the electoral lists are to be submitted to the PiS headquarters on Nowogrodzka Street. They will then be verified. Real pre-election activities are not scheduled to begin until after April 10, when the leaders of the United Right are to embark on a tour of Poland.” https://wiadomosci.onet.pl/kraj/klopoty-pis-z-warszawa/9q7zk7t
-- PIS PREPARES FOR THE BATTLE FOR CITIES - Agata Kondzińska in GW: “In Poznań, there is no resolution as to whether it will be PiS MP Bartłomiej Wróblewski or publishing house head Tadeusz Zysk, who are publicly disputing precedence. In Wrocław, the chances of MP Mirosława Stachowiak-Różecka have increased; she reached the second round of the elections with the city mayor Rafał Dutkiewicz in the last election. But here too, there is no final decision. It is unknown who PiS will back in Warsaw. Will it be Deputy Minister of Justice Patryk Jaki, Senate Marshal Stanisław Karczewski, or, as reported by „Rzeczpospolita”, Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery Michał Dworczyk. – Dworczyk is currently only being assessed – assures an MP from the PiS club. But within the party, they say Jarosław Kaczyński likes the idea. – He sees a parallel to Andrzej Duda's candidacy, who was also not particularly popular, yet became president.”
-- DWORCZYK FOR SPECIAL TASKS - Magdalena Rubaj in Fakt: “– In my opinion, the chairman is leaning towards Dworczyk – a participant in the meeting tells us. Who is Dworczyk? In PiS, he is the chairman's man for special tasks. When he became deputy minister in the Ministry of National Defence, it was clear to Kaczyński's most loyal followers: he is to keep an eye on Antoni Macierewicz and investigate whether the situation in the Ministry of Defence is as bad as the media reports.” https://www.fakt.pl/wydarzenia/polityka/kogo-pis-wystawi-w-wyborach-na-prezydenta-warszawy/8lcedj6
-- WE HATE EVERYONE - a photo from a stadium illustrates GW's front-page report on Poles' aversion to other nations.
-- THERE IS NO CONFLICT BETWEEN RUNNING FOR WARSAW MAYOR AND BEING HEAD OF THE PRIME MINISTER'S CHANCELLERY - SAYS JACEK SASIN in an interview with Jacek Nizinkiewicz in RZ: “And why should I declare that? Michał Dworczyk is a good candidate for Warsaw mayor. If he becomes the candidate of the United Right camp for the capital's leader, I will be very pleased. Although Patryk Jaki is an equally strong candidate.
– Would Michał Dworczyk have to resign from his position as Head of the PM's Chancellery if he ran?
There is no conflict here. He could easily hold this position until autumn. The campaign will start after the summer holidays. However, the decision about Minister Dworczyk's candidacy has not yet been made.”
-- WE WERE UNDER GREAT PRESSURE FROM KUKIZ - SASIN ADMITS: “I respect Prime Minister Olszewski's opinion, but I disagree with it. Perhaps these issues could have been separated or written differently, but on this matter, we were under great pressure from Kukiz'15. In my opinion, the clauses about the Holocaust are not in doubt, and this is the essential part of this law. It refers to the existing law that prosecutes so-called Holocaust denial. We are awaiting the Constitutional Tribunal's ruling. I declare that we will respect every ruling of the Constitutional Tribunal, including one that may require us to amend the law.” http://www.rp.pl/Wiadomosci/303139901-Jacek-Sasin-Michal-Dworczyk-to-dobry-kandydat-na-prezydenta-Warszawy.html
-- POLISH COURT? I DON'T TRUST IT - GW front page: “A court in Dublin has suspended the extradition of a Pole because it is not certain that the man will receive a fair trial in his country. 'Atomic bomb,' 'nuclear option,' 'unprecedented case' – lawyers from Poland to the USA comment on the decision.” http://wyborcza.pl/7,75398,23138872,to-opcja-atomowa-wobec-polski-prawnicy-o-decyzji.html
-- THE COURT OF JUSTICE MAY RULE WITH THE FORCE OF AN ATOMIC BOMB - Tomasz Pietryga in RZ: “If the Court does not share the Irish concerns, it will certainly strengthen the government in Warsaw in its internal dispute with the opposition and the European Commission. It will thereby do PiS a significant favor. Conversely, a negative ruling could have the force of an atomic bomb. It will not only provide fuel for the opposition and Brussels in their dispute with PiS, but will also open the door to questioning the independence of Polish courts not only in extradition cases, but in all other matters: inheritance, divorce, or property disputes. Because one of the parties, citing the justification of the Court in Luxembourg, will always be able to point out that Polish courts are not sufficiently credible to decide their cases. This is not an encouraging vision.” http://www.rp.pl/Sedziowie-i-sady/303139938-Ekstradycja-Polaka-z-Irlandii---Unijny-Trybunal-Sprawiedliwosci-oceni-praworzadnosc-w-Polsce.html
-- POLAND IS BECOMING AN ISLAND OF LEPERS - EWA SIEDLECKA: “Poland is becoming an island. But not a 'green island' of prosperity. Rather, an island where lepers were isolated in earlier times. But we don't bow our heads or knees. However, this is not a matter of dignity, but of degenerative disease.” https://siedlecka.blog.polityka.pl/2018/03/13/polska-staje-sie-wyspa-tredowatych/?nocheck=1
-- ROBERT GÓRSKI ON THE NEXT SEASON OF UCHO PREZESA - tells RZ: “In 'Ucho Prezesa' (The President's Ear), the fire department was employed, and a sprinkler is used. After every outdoor shot, the rails on which the camera moves freeze. – The first season took place in the president's office, in the second we also showed the backstage of the Sejm and the presidential palace, now we have gone even further. So far that in one episode, I'm not even in it! – Robert Górski tells 'Rzeczpospolita'.” http://archiwum.rp.pl/artykul/1368572-Prezes-kontra-Donald.html
