- We looked at the statistics for fatal accidents in 2024, and Poland has 52 fatal victims per million inhabitants. For example, Sweden has 20 people, and Denmark has 24. These are, of course, model countries that have very intensively focused on road safety in Europe, but in these statistics, we are in one of the worst places. Therefore, inspired also by your questions at previous press conferences, the National Prosecutor and I conducted an inspection in common prosecutor's offices - said Waldemar Żurek at a press conference.

- Ladies and gentlemen, I have before me a report that is 337 pages long, containing 1172 cases that show what can be changed. This year, we amended the act, with some provisions entering into force this year. It was processed last year, but we can also change practices, and today at this conference with Prosecutor Korneluk, we will tell you how we intend to change these practices, and we have already started with decisions - Waldemar Żurek continued.
