Mateusz Nowak

- Our meetings, our friendship, our alliance must be very strong. And it is the strongest in history. Our relations are very good, between the armed forces of Poland and Lithuania, which gives hope for a good perspective for this year - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a press conference after meeting with the Lithuanian Minister of National Defence.

Construction of a Training Ground

- We discussed several important matters concerning Poland and Lithuania. One of the topics we announced earlier in our speeches was the discussion about a training ground located on the Lithuanian side, but close to the border with Poland. [...] This is an important initiative, and I would like to highly appreciate it and thank you - the head of the Ministry of National Defence continued.

- This is an area being prepared not only for the Lithuanian army but also for allied troops, American troops, German troops, which are being deployed in the territory of Lithuania. We discussed the possibility of Polish troops also training there, and I sincerely thank you for the invitation and for such an opportunity. [...] If the need arises, our engineering troops will join in the construction of this training ground - he further stated.

Cooperation in the EU, NATO Summit, and Military Exercises

- We discussed cooperation within the European Union; Poland and Lithuania are undertaking cooperation for joint procurement. We want to jointly utilize the SAFE instrument and make joint purchases. A topic that interests us as both manufacturers and users are the Piorun systems - Kosiniak-Kamysz added.

- We agreed on joint action in the European Union, so that from the Commission's side, there are not only loans for security but also subsidies, grants, and interest-free funds that do not need to be repaid. [...] We will jointly prepare for the next NATO summit - he emphasized.

- Another topic discussed today was the expansion of the East Shield and the Baltic Defense Line [...]. We are planning joint military exercises of Polish and Lithuanian troops this year - he mentioned.
