"Polish Mining Has My Support": The President’s Address on St. Barbara’s Day

Michał Lubowicki

- Dear miners, on this miners' holiday, I address the entire mining brotherhood with deep respect and gratitude. St. Barbara's Day is a moment when all of Poland looks towards people of hard work, responsible and essential. People who tread firmly on the earth and, through their daily toil, ensure energy security for millions of our compatriots – said President Karol Nawrocki in a recording.

- Today, I want to thank you for everything you do for us and for our homeland. [...] You secure warmth in Polish homes, energy for factories, and a stable foundation for the entire economy. This is the true value of the mining profession - he continued.

"The path to nuclear energy does not mean abandoning coal"

- I emphasize, Polish mining has my support. The path to nuclear energy, which we are consistently preparing for, does not mean abandoning coal. Before the reactors in Choczewo and other locations start operating, Poland needs its own energy resources - the President pointed out.

On Energy Transformation

As he noted: - Coal is still the stabilizer of our system, and any transformation should be carried out with common sense and respect for people, for entire mining communities.

"Long live the mining profession"

- Dear miners, I thank you for your work, for your fidelity to tradition, and for the strength that builds a prosperous existence for our homeland. I thank your families for bravely participating in this demanding service. I wish you safe and secure work, satisfaction from your profession, health, prosperity, and pride in the fact that your efforts serve Poland every day. Long live the Polish miner. Long live the mining profession - he concluded. (PKN)
