- The President's statement itself indicates such an attempt to usurp powers. Judges have the right to [...] to question the status of other judges in the form of a ruling. There are rulings from European courts on this, and there are rulings from Polish courts - said Adam Szłapka at a press conference, when asked about the President's statement regarding the refusal to nominate 46 judges.
- What the President said in his statement is, in fact, an attempt to question the constitutional principles of judicial independence and the independence of courts - he continued.
- The judiciary must be independent of other branches of government in Poland; judges are independent, and courts are independent. Any attempt to question this is simply usurpation and an attempt to undermine, one might say, the justice system in Poland and to deepen the chaos that we have been subjected to by Minister Zbigniew Ziobro, the previous parliamentary majority, and President Andrzej Duda - he went on to say.
