"The Polish Countryside in Crisis": Morawiecki Publishes Video Spot

- The Polish countryside is in crisis. Hundreds of tons of peppers, tomatoes, and other vegetables are rotting in the fields because processing plants are refusing to accept them, importing goods from abroad, making production completely unprofitable for our farmers - says the narrator in a video spot published by Mateusz Morawiecki.

As we hear in the former Prime Minister's recording: - Wheat prices have fallen to their lowest level in two decades. The costs of fertilizers, fuel, and energy are constantly rising, forcing producers to fight for survival without any profit. The pig herd has hit rock bottom, the smallest since the 1950s. This is the result of high feed costs, burdensome sanitary requirements, and a flood of imported meat.

- Where is the government's action? Where is the intervention purchase? Where are the subsidies for farmers in crisis? Where is the protection for local producers? Where is the program to rebuild the pig herd? Instead of protecting our farmers, Tusk's team is thoughtlessly opening the doors to cheap imports from Mercosur countries, condemning thousands of farms to bankruptcy. It's time to stop this - the narrator concludes.
