Hołownia Confirms Interest in UN Position:

I Have Submitted My Application.

- Two days ago, I informed our National Council that this Friday I submitted my application in the public recruitment announced by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for the position of UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) - Szymon Hołownia announced on Facebook.

- Never before has a Pole held such a position within the UN structures, and I know the subject of humanitarian support better than politics, as I have been involved in it twice as long, developing my foundations worldwide. These two years have taught me how to build connections between states. I don't think anyone needs to be told how important it would be to add a Polish, and more broadly, an Eastern and Northern European perspective to this enormous challenge - emphasized the Marshal of the Sejm.

- This is why I am so grateful to the President of the Republic of Poland, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, and the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, for their unequivocal support and for – knowing that this is a significant matter for Poland – their great engagement in this cause in recent days, activating personal contacts and our entire diplomatic machine - he wrote.
