Extension of Minimum Residency Period in Poland for Foreigner Citizenship Recognition. President Sends Bill Draft to Sejm.

"The President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, has sent a bill draft to the Sejm amending the Act on Polish Citizenship. The proposed act provides for extending the minimum period of uninterrupted stay in Poland [...] required for a foreigner to be recognized as a Polish citizen, from 3 to 10 years" - the Presidential Chancellery informed on X.

The President also sent to the Sejm draft amendments to the Act on the Institute of National Remembrance and the Penal Code. These concern "counteracting the dissemination on the territory of the Republic of Poland of false claims regarding crimes committed by members and collaborators of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, Bandera faction, and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, as well as other Ukrainian formations collaborating with the Third Reich" and "increasing the statutory scope of punishment for illegal crossing of the state border and organizing illegal crossing of the state border for other persons."
