Warsaw Alcohol Sales Restrictions? Kierwiński: Today's Decisions Were Jointly Agreed by Councilors and Mayor Trzaskowski

"I am against any such bans, especially those impacting broadly understood economic activity. Councillors' mandate on this issue is a free one, and they are making the decision today," Marcin Kierwiński said at a press conference with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior of the Czech Republic, when asked if he supports introducing an alcohol sales ban and why Civic Coalition (KO) councilors are voting against Rafał Trzaskowski's proposal.

"You claimed they are voting against the Mayor; you put forward that thesis. I am in contact with both Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski and the councilors. I believe that the decisions made today at the City Council will be jointly agreed upon by the councilors and the Mayor. I'm not even sure if those decisions haven't already been made," he continued.

"I am not a proponent of top-down bans that are supposedly meant to solve problems. I am rather a supporter of effective preventative programs, and Civic Coalition councilors in Warsaw, together with the Mayor of Warsaw, will present such a program. It will also include certain pilot elements," he added.
