– The allied consultations I am referring to will take, and indeed, have just now taken, the form of a formal request to activate Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty. Article 4 states: "The Parties will consult together whenever, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the Parties is threatened." This decision to activate Article 4 was preceded by my consultations with Mr. President, and it is our joint recommendation and joint decision – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk in the Sejm.
