Kierwiński:
We Will Witness Increased Migratory Pressure in Coming Days, Weeks
– It appears that the situation at the borders, both eastern and western, is under control. It seems very, very calm, perhaps calmer than a few weeks ago. However, as Minister Mroczek and I discussed this morning, we are seeing that the more impenetrable we make the Polish-Lithuanian border and the more illegal migrants we apprehend there, the more Lukashenka's services seem to be deciding to intensify their pressure on the original route, namely the Belarusian one – stated Marcin Kierwiński during a briefing at the Ministry of Interior and Administration (MSWiA).
– These figures concerning the number of attempts to breach our border—over 300 people today, to my knowledge—indicate that this pressure is increasing. It somewhat appears that Lukashenka and Russian services, seeing that we are gradually shutting down the migrant smuggling systems into the EU, thanks to these controls at the Lithuanian and German borders, are reverting to this original route – continued the head of the MSWiA.
– Certainly, in the coming days and weeks, we will witness increased migratory pressure. The autumn period is approaching, which has always been conducive to a greater intensity of illegal migration attempts orchestrated by Russian and Belarusian services – Kierwiński emphasized.
