An indictment has been filed against former head of the Ministry of National Defense (MON) Mariusz Błaszczak, current head of the National Security Bureau (BBN) Sławomir Cenckiewicz, current head of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) Agnieszka Glapiak, and former Director of the Department of Strategy and Defense Planning at MON, Piotr Z., in the investigation concerning the revelation of fragments of the "WARTA" Polish Armed Forces Use Plan.
As reported by the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, the prosecutor indicted Mariusz Błaszczak for exceeding his powers as Minister of National Defense in late July 2023, with the aim of achieving personal gain for the PiS party. This involved declassifying "top secret" and "secret" clauses from fragments of strategic-level operational planning documents, including, among others, the "WARTA-00101 Polish Armed Forces Use Plan - Main Part of Independent Defensive Operation."
These fragments were subsequently presented during the ongoing election campaign in a video clip published on the official PiS profile on X. Investigators assessed that Błaszczak "acted to the detriment of the public interest and caused exceptionally serious harm to the Republic of Poland," and that "the action aimed at achieving personal gain was Mariusz Błaszczak’s use of fragments taken out of context […] to publicly discredit political opponents and thereby act in favor of his political formation."
– In Mariusz Błaszczak’s crime, a significant role was played by the accused Piotr Z., Agnieszka Glapiak, and Sławomir Cenckiewicz, who, through their actions, facilitated its commission; additionally, the accused Piotr Z. and Sławomir Cenckiewicz exceeded their powers to achieve personal gain for Mariusz Błaszczak and themselves, – the prosecutor's statement further reads.
