and the Words of a Former PO Minister:
There's No Money and There Won't Be Any." Duda's Address on the "Dominant Narrative
Many doubted when in 2015 I declared that Polish politics could be different. That the state could truly support families. That we would introduce 500 plus. That the retirement age would be lowered. That our Homeland would become safer, and the Polish army strengthened. Finally, that a promise given by a politician to citizens doesn't have to be just an empty campaign pledge, but the beginning of real action - stated President Andrzej Duda in his address.
At that time, the dominant narrative in Polish politics was "it's impossible," openly expressed by the then Minister of Finance in Donald Tusk's government with the famous words: "There's no money and there won't be any!" - he continued.
Therefore, when I took the presidential oath before the National Assembly on August 6, 2015, I said: "I will keep the electoral commitments I have made, though many doubt it today. But I am an unyielding person and a person of faith. I believe that it is possible and that I will manage to do it" - he said.
And so it happened! I kept my word. I am proud that what I leave to Polish politics is the conviction that a public promise is binding. Poles expect consistency; they no longer accept empty promises from politicians. Those who don't keep them are held accountable at the ballot box - he stated.
