Żurek:

I Was Given a Free Hand by the Prime Minister

- I received it [the offer to become a minister] while on holiday [...] right before the nomination. On the last day, Thursday precisely, I came to Warsaw, cutting my holiday short. I went for a meeting with the Prime Minister, and after a one-and-a-half-hour conversation – which was indeed difficult for me as I had never faced such a challenging professional decision – I concluded that this was a moment where I couldn't refuse this challenge – Waldemar Żurek said on Gość Radia ZET. - But I won't hide that the most important thing the Prime Minister told me was about the sphere of independence. The Prime Minister clearly stated that he wanted someone who is not a politician, who is perceived as independent, and who would have a significant degree of independence in decisions concerning this ministry – he continued. As he indicated: - I was given a free hand to act.
