He decided it’s better to work in Brussels and no longer deal with Polish affairs. We still don’t have a media law, we haven’t even reformed Polski Press," Bodnar attacks Sienkiewicz

  • I understand that Mr. Arłukowicz and Mr. Sienkiewicz find themselves more at ease in Brussels in this political war than here on the ground. Unlike these gentlemen, I haven’t wasted a single day since December 13, 2023, fighting for values that are dear to me. I did everything possible to work towards restoring the rule of law on the one hand, and accountability for various abuses on the other. And yet, we have 7 indictments in court, 11 revoked immunities, and several dozen people charged – stated Adam Bodnar in an interview with Marcin Fijołek in “Graffiti” on Polsat News.
  • I hear from Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz's circle, who, after making changes in TVP, decided that it’s better to work in Brussels and no longer deal with Polish affairs. To this day, for example, we don’t have a media law, a public media law, and as far as I remember, he also announced that such a law would be prepared and everything would be shaped – he continued.
  • We haven’t even reformed Polski Press. Let me remind you, this is the media company that was taken over by PKN Orlen. When I was still the Ombudsman, I strongly protested against it, and here there isn’t even a plan for its sale or restructuring – he pointed out.
  • I realize that a certain strategy regarding public media was good in terms of restoring normal operating frameworks. If we even look at Polski Press, what I highly appreciate there is that there were transparent competitions for the editors-in-chief of individual titles, appropriate internal policies were conducted, Polski Press was removed from the observation list of the Norwegian bank, the so-called list of shame – all of this happened, but then one needs to go a step further and regulate and stabilize everything as it should be in a state that properly approaches values related to freedom of speech – added the former minister.
