Nawrocki:

I Am Certain I Will Be Sworn In as President on August 6th

- First and foremost, these attempts and this entire political, public discussion have been sad in terms of the state of Polish democracy. Poles elected their president, casting over 10 million votes for the person who will become the President of Poland, and of course, this political theatre has been detrimental to Polish democracy - said Karol Nawrocki on wPolsce24 television, when asked how he assesses the attempts to block his swearing-in. - I think we are reaching a level of absurdity in the public debate, because fortunately, the most important people in Poland and those who make decisions, I'm referring to Mr. Marshal [Hołownia], have not succumbed to this pressure, which no longer resembles a serious political discussion - he continued. - I am looking at all of this with detachment, I am certain that I will be sworn in as president on August 6th. I will perform my duties to the best of my ability for 5 years - he added. - Many things can happen, however, I am calmly awaiting my swearing-in and I am convinced that this entire public discussion has not primarily served Polish democracy. I am glad that this discussion has not fundamentally crossed the borders of Poland, as that would simply bring shame - he concluded.
