Tusk on the Demand for Recounting Votes:

The Procedure is Clear.

- Regarding the understandable demand, given numerous reports of irregularities, for a recount of votes where such irregularities or even attempts to falsify the election results would be identified, the procedure is clear. And I would also like to say on behalf of you all that the essence of democracy, and this is a truly deadly serious matter, the essence of democracy is that during elections, as well as in the vote-counting process, unauthorized institutions do not interfere - Prime Minister Donald Tusk said at the beginning of the government session. - This is how a democratic system is built [...] so that the legality of elections is decided not by, for example, the executive power [...] but by institutions specifically established for this purpose, independent of the executive power - he continued. - To establish any irregularity that could be grounds, for example, for intervention by the prosecutor general, who will participate in the Supreme Court session, the chamber responsible for confirming the validity of elections [...] documentation is needed. Not just emotions, which are understandable, not just fears, but above all, documentation of what was irregular - he went on to say. - In my opinion, one should not preempt facts with any far-reaching theses that we must first establish and help confirm - he added.
