– A coincidence occurred, whereby as I am leaving to finalize these matters in Brussels, simultaneously in the Sejm there will be a debate on a resolution concerning this peculiar vote by PiS and Konfederacja in the European Parliament regarding the Eastern Shield and, more broadly, this idea and program of rearming Europe and uniting Europe against the Russian threat – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk in a statement before his departure for Brussels.

– The two main opposition forces in Poland, PiS and Konfederacja, voted against a project that will be Putin's nightmare in the future. For Putin, a nightmare is a united Europe on the issue of security, a Europe that decides to spend much more money, including EU funds, on rearmament, a Europe in which not only Poland, but other member states, because we have something more here even than a clear conscience [...] will also pay much more from their budgets for armaments – he continued.

– Such a Europe represents perhaps today the biggest problem for Putin, and therefore every vote, every political behavior that hinders the unification of Europe around security, around armament, around the Polish border, is [...] a form of Russian sabotage – he went on to say.
