Tusk Attacks Duda Over Interview Remarks. What Did PAD Actually Say? [300POLITYKA FACT CHECK]:

One Step Too Far.

The suggestion publicly made by President Duda that we might give our Polish copper to the Americans in exchange for their support, that is truly one step too far – Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on social media.

In reality, it was a TVN journalist who asked President Duda about this matter, and Andrzej Duda responded, among other things, that he hoped such a situation would not arise. Below is the exact fragment of the conversation.

Marcin Wrona: In the era of Donald Trump, can we count on America? Will there not come a day when Donald Trump says: you want American troops in Poland, give me your copper?

Andrzej Duda: If President Trump finds himself in a situation where, I don't know, he spends hundreds of billions of dollars to support Poland, then it's hard for me to say what his expectations of us would be. However, as of now, we are not in such a situation.

Marcin Wrona: Aren't you afraid of such a situation?

Andrzej Duda: I mean, I hope such a situation will not occur, because as it stands, he calls us a very responsible ally. He says that it is rather he who has obligations towards Poland, because after all, he himself recently said that he feels obliged to Poland, and I am glad he says such things, because we are a very responsible ally who actually fulfills its commitments, and in fact – as he also emphasizes himself – significantly beyond its commitments within the alliance.
