– With great satisfaction, I can today tell you, and above all, Polish police officers, that we have reached a final solution for the coming months, together with Minister Siemoniak, a solution that thousands of male and female police officers, as well as Border Guard and Fire Brigade officers, have been waiting for for a long time – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference.
– We all know that the situation in these services requires support from the state. We are talking here not only about such obvious matters as maintaining the highest possible status of this service – he continued.
– What we have agreed upon with the minister, after consultations with police officers and trade unions, what is possible in this short time and I believe can fundamentally improve the material situation of male and female officers, is to equalize this status regarding housing allowances, for example, with the status of Polish Army soldiers – emphasized the head of government.
– We were very keen for service in the police to be attractive again, perhaps that’s the wrong word, but for there to be more people interested in joining the service than those who are leaving – said Tusk.
– For this positive trend to be sustainable, decisions like today's were necessary. The housing allowance for male and female officers of the police, Border Guard, and Fire Brigade will range from PLN 900 to PLN 1800, depending on the place of residence and place of service – emphasized the head of government.
The changes to the housing allowance are set to come into effect on July 1st.
