Limiting 800+ for Ukrainians? Żukowska: An element of Trzaskowski's campaign, it will legitimize the narrative of PiS, Mentzen, and Braun

– I am against it because it is a short-sighted solution, populist, and unfortunately potentially harmful in its social consequences, as it caters to an anti-Ukrainian sentiment that emerges in some social mood surveys. However, I do not believe that responding to every need revealed in social surveys and following it is what politicians or the government should do – said Anna Maria Żukowska on Radio ZET, when asked about limiting the 800+ benefit for Ukrainians and Donald Tusk's post on X.

– Politicians are also responsible for shaping public sentiment. After all, it was PiS that fostered anti-immigrant sentiments during the previous term, inciting against refugees, and we opposed it then. But this shows that if one wants to, if one is in power, one can influence public moods, rather than simply passively follow them – she continued.

– I state that this is a campaign action. Moreover, the name of a Civic Platform candidate is mentioned in this tweet. I have a question for the Prime Minister: will he also eagerly and urgently address projects proposed by other candidates, including those from the ruling coalition, Mr. Szymon Hołownia or Magdalena Biejat? – she added.

– This is simply an element of Rafał Trzaskowski's election campaign, but it will only affect reality by boosting and legitimizing the anti-Ukrainian narrative of PiS and the Confederation candidate, Mentzen, or even [… ] Grzegorz Braun – she concluded.
