[…] In the beginning, for these first few years, a certain special regime was in place, because we wanted to help Ukrainians – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Puńsk.

“We cannot make the same mistake as other Western countries”
– Today we still need to help Ukraine, but today I believe we cannot make the same mistake that other Western countries, such as Germany or Sweden, made in the past: that it was beneficial to come there just for social benefits – he indicated.

“I propose a fundamental change”
– The most important thing for us is that everyone who comes to us and wants to count on support should strengthen our economy. That is why I propose a fundamental change: namely, that benefits such as 800+ for Ukrainians should be granted only if Ukrainians are working, living in Poland, and paying taxes in Poland – he emphasized.

Trzaskowski Appeals to the Government for Legal Changes
– This is a common-sense change. Therefore, I appeal to the government to undertake work on changing the law so that such a postulate can be taken into account – he added.
