– The matter with MP Romanowski is clear. MP Romanowski has fled the country, he remains an MP, no one has deprived him of his mandate, nor has he relinquished it himself, but he has decided, and announced it publicly, that he will not perform his MP mandate within the territory of the Republic of Poland in any way. In view of the above, because such is his declaration, we in the Sejm Presidium, I as the Marshal, simply must draw consequences from the decision he has made – stated Szymon Hołownia in a conversation with journalists in the Sejm.

– These consequences are very simple. MP Romanowski will not receive his MP's diet (allowance), for the reason that the Act on the Performance of the MP and Senator Mandate clearly states that the diet consists of funds related to the performance of the mandate within the country. In view of the above, the diet is not due. His salary is not due, because MP Romanowski has renounced it, and there remains the third component of money, namely the lump sum for maintaining the MP's office, and here the MP will receive it until the Sejm passes this very amendment to the Act – he continued.
