Prosecutor's Office Launches Investigation into Macierewicz's "Diplomatic Treason"

On November 28, 2024, the National Public Prosecutor's Office received a notification from the Chairman of the Commission for the Examination of Russian and Belarusian Influences, Brig. Gen. Jarosław Stróżyk, regarding suspicion of the commission of the crime of "diplomatic treason" by the former Minister of National Defence, Antoni Macierewicz – writes the spokesperson for the National Public Prosecutor's Office, Prosecutor Przemysław Nowak, in a statement.

On January 2, 2025, the National Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation into the actions, from November 2015 to October 2016, detrimental to the Republic of Poland, by the former Minister of National Defence, Antoni Macierewicz, authorized to act on behalf of the Republic of Poland in relations with the government of a foreign state and a foreign organization. This is in connection with the decision not to join Poland to the international program for the purchase of air-to-air refueling aircraft, known as "Karkonosze" – it reads.

The prosecutor's office website informed that the request concerns an act under Article 129 of the Penal Code.
