Free Christmas Eve Act Signed into Law: President Makes Decision

"The President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, has signed the Act of December 6, 2024, amending the Act on days free from work and certain other acts. The Act provides for establishing December 24 – Christmas Eve – as a day free from work" - the Chancellery of the President informed.

As informed by the Head of the Chancellery of the President (KPRP), Małgorzata Paprocka, the President will refer the Act to the Constitutional Tribunal under the subsequent control procedure.

The ban on trade will not apply on the three Sundays preceding Christmas Eve. At the same time, an employee or worker may perform work in trade for a maximum of two Sundays during this period.
