Everyone in Europe Supports Our Solutions and Says: We Want to Emulate You. Tusk on Suspending the Right to Asylum
- We also discussed the migration issue; there is significant agreement among a large group of countries on this. I spoke about our asylum law, about the fact that we are quite determined and tough when it comes to defending the border, and I must say that even though I used quite strong words, everyone now supports these solutions of ours - said Prime Minister Donald Tusk in a conversation with journalists in Brussels.
- The suspension of the right to asylum and the defense of the border, including through these legal decisions, is absolutely not only accepted, but was expected in Europe. Everyone is asking me to send them the text of this law; they want to familiarize themselves with it and believe it is a model of procedure to be emulated - he continued.
- I consider this a very big personal success [...] I heard so many words of warning that Europe would never accept this, and I must say that both institutions and prime ministers, presidents, everyone is saying: yes, do it this way, we truly want to emulate you - he went on to say.
