Sikorski:
During Presidency, Poland Will Prevent Return to "Business as Usual" with Russia and Belarus
- We have a rich presidency program, which is taking place in an extremely complicated international situation. Ukraine, suddenly growing geopolitical tensions, the crisis in the Middle East – so it's obvious that the motto of our presidency is "security, Europe" – said Radosław Sikorski at a press conference.
- For this reason, the presidency's work [...] will focus on maximizing support for Ukraine, maintaining the current policy towards Russia and Belarus, and strengthening the EU's security and resilience. In pursuing the presidency's priorities, we will cooperate closely with the new EU authorities, including especially the High Representative [for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas], but also with the Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius – he said.
- The goal of the presidency will be to strengthen EU sanctions against the aggressors: Russia and Belarus, and to combat their circumvention. [...] We will strive to gain the support of member states for the full utilization of the frozen assets of the Central Bank of Russia for the support of Ukraine. We will prevent a return to "business as usual" with Russia and Belarus until the aggression ceases – he conveyed.
